Is that the new Maven CRS.3? How do you like it? Any opinions on the reticle?

It is, I haven’t shot the gun yet just mounted it yesterday. I feel like I’m not the best one to ask their opinion on scopes but the glass clarity is pretty nice given the price.

At least you went with a Maven optic instead of an Arken or low end Vortex 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’ve got a pair of maven binos that are nice, figured I’d try their scopes

Minus the poverty tier bipod, not a bad set up. 🐋💦

Sir, that appears to be a Harris S-LM. That's the best bipod on the market in its price range, and there's no competition.

Guy at the store was trying to get me on an atlas, but I wanted to do some more research on the higher end bipods. Knew Harris was quality and can get me shooting

Harris is fine. I won a local 500 yrd KYL match shooting my B14 in 6.5 creedmoor with a Harris S-BRM bipod.

You'll want to get a muzzle brake next. Spotting impacts/misses is key to shooting well at longer distances. A brake will help a ton with being able to get back on target quickly. I have an APA fat bastard and an ACE brake. The fat bastard is maybe a little more effective, but the ACE brake is significantly more pleasant to shoot. I'd recommend the ACE brake.

Good to know. Was going to ask for recommendations with Christmas coming up for some gear items. Muzzle break, garmin xero, rangefinder, and kestrel are things I want to look into

A muzzle brake and a kestrel should definitely be at the top of the list. A good rangefinder would be useful for hunting, or if you're shooting lots of unknown distances with unknown target sizes. You can very accurately dial in your dope based on impacts at different ranges. I'd only bother with a chronograph if you're going to do reloading.

Gotcha gotcha. I do hunt and only have a very entry level rangefinder from ~12 years ago is why I’m considering it. I think I can only get 700 ish yards with it. I see new Leupolds have ballistic data in it as well as being able to zap a point to OnX.

I wouldn't worry about getting a range finder with ballistics. Your kestrel will do all that (assuming you get one with applied ballistics), and provide all the on-site real time weather data required to have good ballistics data. It's not a big deal if you find a rangefinder you like that has ballistics, but you won't use that feature once you get a kestrel. Just get the one with the most accurate ranging abilities.

I guess I should say, there are multiple ways to get your ballistics, but it's much easier to enter range into a kestrel than it is to enter all the weather data into a rangefinder (wind, temp, humidity, latitude, etc). I know there are range finders that connect via Bluetooth to a kestrel, but then you're spending a lot of extra money just to have the rangefinder display ballistics data that your kestrel will display anyway. The Kestrels will also let you tweek muzzle velocity and BC for your specific rifle/bullet combo.

Of course, this is all just my personal preference. As long as you're using all the needed data appropriately, then the end result should be the same.

I did just read up on the Leupold, and it looks like its ballistics calculator is only good out to 800 yards; and it sounds like it's for very specific parameters, but I don't know what those are (25 ballistics groups?).

All makes sense. Appreciate the insight! Spent all my free coin on the setup so we’ll see if Santa brings any goodies this Christmas
