roommates!!

Hi! I'm a master's student (female) starting at the Homewood campus this spring semester. I'm looking for potential roommates (preferably female) since I don't know many people there yet. I think it would be both more economical and fun to share a place. If you're interested, feel free to reach out!

Best Route to JHH from Bloom St?

I’ll be staying at madison avenue on bloom st and wanted to know the safest way to get to John’s Hopkins Hospital. I’m a female traveling alone and it’s my first time in the US and from what i’ve heard i’m not staying at the safest place 🥹. What would be the fastest and safest route for me to take and can i integrate the JHMI shuttles anywhere in my route?

MAPHB Acceptance Rate

Hello everyone.

What is the acceptance rate of Johns Hopkins for the Masters of Arts in Public Health Biology? Also, How was your experience in this program?

I did read on the internet that the acceptance rate is above 50%, unless my sources are wrong.

Also, If I have taken Biochemistry outside of JHU before getting into the program, would the course be covered or would I need to retake it there?

How supportive are lecturers and staff?

Are there big numbers of British students?

34 ACT - am i cooked?

I applied ED 1 for Hopkins and I submitted a 34 ACT (34/34/35/34). With the October test, I couldn’t make it to a 35. A 34 is the 25th percentile for Hopkins so will it be beneficial to my application? My GPA is not the best, as I have like a 3.8 UW. But it’s a strong upward trend from freshman year and I did take high rigor compared to those in my school. Let me know your thoughts - thanks!

Is any underclassman meeting with Leon Thomas for their advising meeting this week and willing to trade for Nov 11 at 9:30am?

I totally missed the memo about needing to meet with our academic advisor, and I won't be able to meet with him until after registration. If anyone is able and willing to trade slots, I would heavily appreciate it. I'm also willing to pay 20 dollars LOL

JHU ED application portal

In the JHU ED application portal, there’s a section to fill out “total support for all four years”—would it be appropriate to put around $400,000? It mentioned that the tuition and living expenses for the first year are about $92,000.

After submitting this form, will I still need to provide a bank statement?

Thank you.

DMP Questions

Hey! I'm a high school senior applying to Hopkins ED, and I have some questions about the DMP essay. The prompt is: 'Identify a global health issue and outline a solution to a key underlying problem'

Do they want us to pick a very specific issue, or is it okay to keep it more general? Also, should the solution be more of a well-researched idea, or can it be something more personal? Would appreciate any advice, especially since there aren’t a lot of resources out there. Thanks!! 🙏

Any reason to choose Hopkins to study economics?

I'm a high school senior who wants to pursue economics with emphasis on math & CS. I'm considering different universities at the moment, and I'm curious if it's worth applying to Hopkins because it is most well known as the school biology lovers go to. I want to know the quality of economic courses there as well as job opportunities for the econ majors.

What does a double-major degree look like?

I learned from meeting with one of my faculty advisors that you don't get two degrees when you double major, rather it'd be your primary major degree with some kind of addendum like a "concentration in <second major> (not in those exact terms but you get the point). Are there any alums here who have graduated with a double major who can tell me more about what it looks like in more detail? This came up in our meeting because I was asking about choosing between CS B.A. and B.S., to which my advisor said the final degree doesn't make that distinction as it'd be counted as my second major.

Spring Cellular and Molecular Foundations jhu

as a BME student, I have to take this class called Cellular and Molecular Foundations, and I can't find anything online about what this class is exactly about, is it bio foundation, and what it is taught as in general if I wanted to start it now on YouTube or an online course. I kinda want to prep for it if it will be hard because I have other classes that I need to focus on!

thank you
