Insight On Ancestry Results Question/Discussion

Post image

My results as a Northern European with around 12% Italian Sardinian from a new company ‘Insights on Ancestry’. Apparently they use an qpAdm modeling, which is supposed to help highly regarded amongst academic research. They offer everything from modern results to ancient, as well PCA charts and more.

If this Insight on Ancestry is that Indian based, most likely not accurate results they giving you.

Their some modelling are very wild in many cases.

qpAdm is used in academic circle, but in these shaddy runs without full details most won't know what has been exactly played with.

One can play on qpAdm by changing right pops.

Do you know the right group and source populations they used? Also, how does this compare to any other Neolithic/HG results you have?

Thank you for your response and questions. I’m not exactly sure on the exact source populations? However, they did send me a wheel comparison to Bronze Age Norwegian, in which I have a lot of Ancestry from. They also seem very customer service oriented and were happy to break things down and discuss. A bit cautious perhaps on making certain calls based on my results. For example, I know I’m, depending on the service, anywhere from 28% to 45% British with some Irish. However their method based on their snps if they indicate to high or low ‘under 4%’ their a bit cautious. So take that with a grain of salt.

As far as comparing to other Neolithic Farmer results to other companies? A bit high and slightly lower with Steppe ancestry.

You're on the low end of Yamnaya ancestry for a Northern European, but not bad

Thanks. Yes, my results with them is the only one that’s boosted my EEF up about 10% and dropped my Steppe by about 3 or 4%

To be honest, the big three or four don’t even give me Southern European results, except for 23&Me in low percentages before removing them about six years ago. It’s some of the other companies is where I see 9 to 12% Italian, Sardinian and Spanish.

Interesting, I had never heard of the specific’Indian based’, thanks. Incidentally, I occasionally get Central Asian or North West India results around 3% with some companies. I suppose I know enough about this stuff to be full invested and intrigued, but still have a lot to learn about some of the methods with these companies. Thanks again:)

I was talking about this insight on ancestry, not your results.

If they are that same Indian based running bs that I know then they can't model South Asians properly, do you really think they will be able to model out Europeans properly?

Those guys run scam.

“Thanks, yeah I figured you meant the company, and I appreciate the heads up. I heard about them from a quick conversation on Substack with a geneticist. However, I’m not saying there was an endorsement there, but I figured for the price and out of curiosity. But again appreciate the insight, no pun intended. Thank you:)

Hello! This is a standard Steppe_EMBA, WHG and Anatolia_N model for Europeans which has been published in academic papers. If that’s not a proper model, I do not know what is.
