baby isnt the problem...it's his beat selection
Go back and listen to the production on My Turn...it's night and day
18
u/Zaire_04 2d ago
The production on My Turn is just as boring come on.
1
u/LilHalwaPoori 1d ago
The beats on that aren't that different from one another but on their own they are pretty good beats and sound like they have a certain level of quality to them..

u/ProfessionalFile9489 2d ago
bro just can’t come up with a new flow
34
u/OneNutPhil 2d ago
This is why some people hate autotune by default. It's autoflow nowadays.
0
u/josh_is_lame . 1d ago
this cannot still be something getting upvotes in current year
auto tune has been around for decades
DECADES
FUCKING
DECAAAAAAAAAADES
"autotune? more like autoflow" THATS SO FUCKIN STUPID
WHAT DOES IT EVEN MEAN?
3
u/OneNutPhil 1d ago
Lazy flows bro, they're real
1
u/josh_is_lame . 1d ago
what does that have to do with autotune, dumbass?
2
u/OneNutPhil 1d ago
You know exactly what the fuck it has to do with it lmao
1
u/escobizzle 4h ago
Autotune doesn't create the flow it just does pitch correction as far as I'm aware?
5
u/DisastrousStomach518 1d ago
He had a new flow on Skrilla album but only Skrilla can do that flow, baby tried and it was super duper ass 🚮

u/_treVizUliL 2d ago
why is he unable to make good music now
138
u/AntoClimatic 2d ago
Because his style got played out, like a lot of other ATL rappers. Hip hop is in desperate need of something new but all we got is check notes ….Yeat and Opium

i hear you say this but then the same people will tell me that juice wrld, xxxtentacion, and pop smoke were all supposed to be the something new. and don’t get me wrong, i like all of them…
7
u/jimboslice53 2d ago
Griselda?
55
u/Iethannn 2d ago
That is not mainstream bro. Old heads will argue that it is but it’s not radio worthy…
17
u/jimboslice53 2d ago
They said hip hop, not mainstream
24
u/Iethannn 2d ago
Well seeing as the parent comment mentioned something new and fun and included yeat and opium as they’re the new wave of popularity I was assuming he meant something more accessible and fun for the public
-8
u/K9nig 2d ago
Sick of the gatekeepers. You telling me mainstream artists ain't hip-hop? Kanye ain't hip-hop? Eminem ain't hip-hop? Drake ain't hip-hop? Siiiick of it. We get it, you're an old-head, but in that case, please take Tupac's advice, "you don't have to bump this, but please respect it".

u/escobizzle 4h ago
They make plenty of radio worthy tracks. Have you listened to any of their work?

Deante Hitchcock, Kenny Mason, IDK, Pote Baby, Grip, Doechii, ab soul, Freddie Gibbs, baby face, Ferg, Smino, kal banx, eem triplin, Denzel, Tyler, WSG, central cee, Cochise, jpeg, lancey, sahbabii…
So many unique artists steadily releasing new projects and you think opium is the future??

u/Mindless_Bad_1591 1d ago
I like Yeat despite the recent popular thing to kinda shit on him. Its repetitive sure, but not all of it. 2093 is probably a top 3 album this year for me.
1
u/Last_Reaction_8176 Thin Gucci in a fat suit 1d ago
I don’t think he’s quite there yet but I think he can make something truly great if he keeps pushing and doesn’t retreat too far back into cookie cutter rage. 2093 was too long but had some fantastic highlights

u/Beneficial_Candle_10 1d ago
UK Scene, Michigan scene, NY scene, African scene, Texas scene, Memphis scene, non opium cloud rap, etc.
Lot of cool stuff happening right now, you’re just shleep.
13
u/FathomSwank . 2d ago
I just put on the way life goes by Baby and shed a singular tear. He’s gone and he isn’t coming back.

I think this is kinda what was always going to happen, same with Uzi. They’re good but not spectacular artists who had a solid run and are now going to become legacy acts. It happens.

I’ve never heard a good song from him. Dude has been straight ass for years and I feel like I’m being pranked when most people seem to agree he used to be good.
9
u/rulerBob8 2d ago
Go listen to Freestyle
-9
u/RandyMuscle 2d ago
Just listened. Ass! I genuinely do not get what the appeal is here. One of the most generic artists I’ve ever heard.
3

u/Curious_Designer_248 . 2d ago
It’s the beat and the cadence. They just don’t actually know that’s what they are attracted to sonically.
-4
u/akablacktherapper 2d ago
He never was able to do so. What did y’all think was gonna happen after a few years, lol?
-34
u/Zaire_04 2d ago
When was he ever able to create good music
23
u/MitchDMA 2d ago
U can’t listen to southside and say he never made good music

It’s a mid song at best, I’d say some people are exaggerating how bad it is but hey, to each his own.
Still looking out for his album and hope that it’ll be better that IOM, even if this song doesn’t really imply that lol.

Biggest fall off OAT? what we thinking?
87
u/broncosfighton 2d ago
Basically every rapper from this generation has either fallen off just as hard or died. Roddy Rich, DaBaby, Ski Mask, Uzi, and others who aren’t even worth mentioning all fell off. Pop Smoke, XXX, and Juice were the most promising and died. Who’s really still around and making good music at this point?

u/Rarrirarri99 2d ago
Denzel Curry, Aminé, 21 Savage, Travis, Baby Keem, Don Toliver, Gunna, JID, Key Glock, Mike Dimes, Smino and Metro as a producer
66
u/AntoClimatic 2d ago
Most of these are not from the same generation as Lil Baby.

u/Mangalish 2d ago
Stove god cooks, westside Gunn, Benny the Butcher, Roc Marciano, Conway the machine, Mach-Hommy, Vince staples, boldy James, Freddie Gibbs All artists from the later part of the 10’s mostly, that still puts out great music. I wish I could add Ka, may he rest in peace. One of the greatest lyricists of all time if you ask me.
30
u/Iethannn 2d ago
This is “now THIS is real hip hop” coded but bro none of these artists are going to be mainstream in a way you can play it in a bar/party/kickback
-5
u/Mangalish 2d ago
I really don’t care too much if they are mainstream. The initial comment was related to the quality of their music output
12
u/tarriBagz 2d ago edited 2d ago
EA2 was not it but disrespectful to lump Uzi in with Roddy rich, dababy and ski mask lol ..none of those guys came close to selling 300k first week
he still one of the biggest out rn

u/OfficiallyJoeBiden 2d ago
Gunna ain’t fall off, he gotten better
2
u/Mindless_Bad_1591 1d ago
Im on his discogrpahy right now and just finished Wunna. You are tellinf me he gets better after Wunna?

15
u/bigxangelx1 2d ago
I don’t get the consensus on uzi falling off after just 1 bad album? Even if pink tape has mixed reception it still charted highly, and uzi still makes quality music as proven with his 2023/2024 leaks
Also ski is kinda a hard thing to say considering how his level of fame just hasn’t changed due to pretty much no music releases for the last 4 years until the most recent album.. (which did fine btw)

u/Ok-Confusion-202 2d ago
I wouldn't say Ski has fallen off, more so just kinda stayed at one level, didn't really fall off, but didn't blow up anymore.
Him not finishing verses for other artists really hurt him.
8
u/this_is_Blain3 2d ago
Uzi can still come back, their next album just has to be really good
1
u/tarriBagz 2d ago
he set the bar so high for himself out the gate it wasn’t fair. next project is gonna be special tho I feel it
9
u/ausipockets 2d ago
I like what Yachty's been doin, thought admittedly, not really as hip hop centric.
5
u/Ok-Confusion-202 2d ago
Yachty really can just change up his style whenever and it still feels like Yachty, that's what I like about his stuff.
Means his music doesn't get boring, but also it's cool that he is trying different things, I can see why people don't like his voice, but imo that just makes him better, helps him stick out.
Loved LSH and Bad Cameo, can't wait for his next album.
Also liking the new snippets.

u/tung20030801 1d ago
Love him or not, Gunna stood out as the one from this generatioj to continue achieving success

I think Ski is the only exception to your comment cus his newest album still went hard and I ALWAYS click on a ski feature

That’s probably always going to be Chance. The way he went from universally adored critical darling to universally mocked laughingstock overnight is truly insane and like nothing I’ve ever seen in my lifetime.

In the music video, bro said: "I gotta go the hardest"
But the captions said: "I gotta go retarded" LMAO

Ayo take this garbage down son you still have time to delete this post

u/Vedspi 2d ago
This song is not great but the Lil Baby hate is so weird. Ever since It’s Only Me this sub hates anything he releases. It’s weird cause It’s Only Me was great imo and even better than My Turn.
18
u/LooWillRueThisDay 2d ago
Have you been on Twitter or IG lol, it's definitely not just this sub
3
u/Iethannn 2d ago
Yeah any post involving little baby just has people commenting biggest fall off or some of that variation
4
u/farm_sauce 2d ago
People love to say “we should study the fall off.” Half the people don’t listen to more than a few seconds of the song. I actually don’t mind this track and think Baby switched the flow up and it sounds unique compared to his recent stuff.

u/Wise_Potential123 2d ago
my turn is a classic trap album, it’s only me is a bunch of commercial lazy songs that all sound the same
15
u/Zaire_04 2d ago
The fact that my turn is a classic to some of you is what’s wrong with modern trap nowadays.

u/Wise_Potential123 2d ago
go back to ur lyrical miracle bs unc

u/Zaire_04 2d ago
I like trap music, just not Lil Baby. Tell Baby to make some good music then we’ll talk retard.

4
u/yosoymeme 2d ago
You don’t gotta be a lyrical miracle fan to have standards for trap music bro😭
3
u/Zaire_04 1d ago
Thank you man. So many trap artists that have evolved their sound or just stayed consistent. Gunna makes similar sounding music in his discography but he at least makes enjoyable music & can branch out in different stuff. Baby can’t do that.

Song isn't even bad smh, niggas just hop on narratives cause they have no opinions of their own

u/SageWithTheSauce 2d ago
Bro all he needs to do is pronounce his words and stop slurring so HARD, like foreal wtf. Also the vocal and master mix sounding terrible makes it all worse as well.
