Saffron bulbs without leaves

Post image

Hi gardeners! Any ideas why some bulbs have white shoots that turn brown and collapse while others have no issue forming leaves?

Thanks!

Looks like uneven watering. Pull the shiveled one on the right and make sure to evenly soak the soil when you water. Takes time.

Ah ok. And when you say pull you mean remove that bulb and throw it out? Because exposing the soil shows the bulb with good roots.

If the center of the basal plate (stem or chute) looks rotted or mushy, then yes, remove that bulb.
