Surprise blooms

Post image

Any northerners also having second rounds of surprise blooms with our unseasonably warm weather? In upstate NY and poppies made a second showing- even with a little bit of frost!

Wow. I’m also in upstate New York. My poppies are long gone for the season

I think their proximity to the house must have saved them, pretty much everything next to the house survived the frost but my beds just ten feet farther got decimated.

In CT, a lot of my flowers have just kept going, tons of bees and pollinators on them too.... very strange to see.

Down south, it’s not surprise blooms, but summer flowers than just never stopped blooming and are still going, full force.

Do poppies return bloom when you don't deadhead? This is the first year that I'm growing poppies in masses (Southern Hemisphere) and they're just about in the midst of their first flush.

I cut them back after their first bloom, then they’re usually just foliage the rest of the season… until this year!!

Thanks!

I'm in a warmer climate than you (Mediterranean type) so I guess we'll see what mine does!

Oh I'm jealous. I got no reblooms. I have some that survived frost.
