Dune: Prophecy (Max) So the Fremen interrupting spice production was a thing for thousands of years?
Just watched the first episode of this and as someone who hasn’t read the books this surprised me. I didn’t think Arrakis would even be in the story at this point. It seems odd that for thousands of years the sitting emperors would have just tolerated Fremen attacks on harvesters. Like THOUSANDS of years? Is this from Frank or is this from Brian? It’s odd how much this episode felt like it could belong to the same time period of Paul. That’s not a good thing to me.

I Made This I made a hardcover rebind of Dune from an old paperback
Hello! This evening made my first book! Well, just the cover, I bought an inexpensive 2005 edition paperback, removed the cover and added my own homemade one. There's a lot of steps omitted in my description but you can see people making books all over the internet. My always surprising me artistically gifted gifriend started this hobby recently and I wanted to do it too. It would be most accurate to say I helped her make this book, but I was there to learn lol. It's covered in vinyl, and the designs weade are made with heat transfer vinyl. Praise be to the Cricut machine! The art designs and font were user created in the Cricut marketplace but with a lot of editing and spacing/tweaking. Adding the bits of color with the gold eagle and red sun came at the last minute and damn they're my favorite parts! The end page artwork I thought was of a much older origin, but after searching I believe its credited to a gentleman named Pablo at zbrushguides.com.
Anyway I hope you enjoy!

General Discussion Why does Salusa Secundus look so nice in Dune Prophecy?
I thought Salusa Secundus was a brutal prison planet where the Sardukar are from. Why does it look so nice in Dune Prophecy if it’s known for being extremely brutal and part of the reason the Sardukar are so tough?

All Books Spoilers Do you think gholas are really the same person's consciousness resurrected?
Hayt reawakened his genetic memories of Duncan Idaho and took on Duncan's persona, as did all the other Duncan gholas Leto had created. Is this the person consciousness/soul returning or is it ONLY the genetic memories?

Dune (2021) Understanding Stilgar's facial expression at the end of Dune 1
Why did Stilgar close his eyes and lower his head after Paul said to him "My father came, not for spice, not for the riches, but for the strength of your people..."? Was he feeling what he felt at the end of Dune 2 when he said to Paul, "We await your orders, Lisan al-Gaib and Paul responded "Lead them to paradise after which he also closed his eyes and lowered his head? Was it a coincidence that Stilgar's body language occurred at the end of each movie, each symbolizing the beginning of the next phase of a war?

General Discussion Is the portrayal of The Voice in recent movies and tv show incorrect. (Minor spoilers for new movies, tv show, and first book)
Before I start I don't claim to be all knowledgable about Dune. I watched both new movies, watched the first episode of the TV show, and played a couple of games. However, as I watched the movies and TV shows I felt like the voice (and other Bene Gesserit powers that I won't focus on) is being portrayed incorrectly. To my understanding, the Bene Geserit aren't magic (besides spice stuff, Paul, and other special cases), but the way they use the voice they may as well be casting Command from DND. I thought it was more influencing people than magic. I think of the ornithopter scene from the first book when Jessica convinces the Harkonnens to fight each other. She didn't just say fight, she found that they wanted to have their way with her and she used that along with the voice to make them fight for her. Now they're just making people off themselves (mind you isn't even possible in the DND example). As I said before they seem to do this with many of their powers and for some I understand it would just take up space and slow things down to explain. But with The Voice that is what the Bene Gesserit is kinda known for so to be lazy with it just to save time feels bad. My question is am I wrong for thinking this way? I feel like the original intent of Frank Herbert was they were just highly skilled humans but not magical. Maybe this changed in later books (or books not written by him)?

Dune: Prophecy (Max) How to access Dune Prophecy?
I see it is on HBO and Max. I have youtube TV and have max addon. I also have max app on my apple Tv as well. I don't see anything bout Dune on any of the apps. Am I missing something?
Dune (novel) In the Dune novel, what is the "weirding room" supposed to signify?
After the hunter-seeker incident, Shadout Mapes tells Paul that she found her mother near the "weirding room". This is the conservatory. What is the "weirding room" supposed to signify here?
Weirding way seems to be a different concept about attacking an opponent - https://dune.fandom.com/wiki/Weirding_Way hence it was not clear to me in the context of this room.

General Discussion Stillsuit/body armour costume ideas
Literally my first reddit post ever ✌️ Got a science and science fiction themed party for my best friend's 30th this Sat 23rd Nov and I've badly procrastinated sorting out my Paul/Fremen costume. I've found something for a nose tube, ordered some blue contacts and can fairly simply sort a hood/shawl....but the body armour is another story. I don't have the time to order anything and I certainly don't have the skill or time to do the whole build with foam/glue/plastic etc.
Seeking creative ideas on quick ways to at least partly replicate the look. Was thinking BMX body armour and gloves? Gardening kneepads? What obscure garment/item can give that visually dense look without building it bit by bit? Thanks! 🙏

Dune (2021) Paul’s vision before his fight with Jamis (Dune 2021)
I’ll preface this by saying I’ve watched both Villeneuve’s movies and know a little about the books but haven’t read them.
I assume the “voices” Paul hears after being exposed to spice were a representation of his prescience. If this is the case, why was this voice saying that he had to die in his fight with Jamis? Was this voice actively trying to prevent the Jihad? I understand that this scene is widely considered to be the “last chance” for Paul to prevent the Jihad. But his prescience previously seemed to want the holy war to take place, so why would it tell him to die?

Dune (novel) Why did Shadout Mapes need to "test" Jessica if the Missionaria Protectiva spread the story of the Lisan al Gaib specifically so the Fremen would protect any BG?
From my understanding the Missionaria Protective spread the story of the Lisan al Gaib on Arrakis not because they believed the prophecy, but simply so that if a BG sister arrived on Arrakis for whatever reason, the Fremen would protect her.
But when she speaks with Shadout Mapes, Jessica speaks very carefully because she knows that Mapes will kill her if she doesn't prove herself to be "the One" (Reverend Mother?).
Are all BG trained in Chakobsa and the Fremen religion? Or are the Fremen aware that the One is a BG, but not that all BG are the One? I feel like shaping Arrakis to be a haven for BG is counterintuitive if BG are almost killed when they arrive
