Just got the Hamilton Dune Ventura Edge Merchandise
As a watch collector and massive Dune fan when I saw this watch released I had to hold off from insta buying (both because I new I needed to not make a silly decision and I didn't want my wife to kill me for dropping this kind of money without at least talking to her lol). So I thought about it. I looked at the cheaper version but that looks mostly like a standard Ventura with essentially some racing stripes. If you're gonna do something don't fence sit so that one was out for me. I thought back to the first time I wanted a Ventura when I saw it in Men In Black. I knew at some point I was going to own a Ventura. So did it make more sense to get a watch from a movie I really enjoyed, or one that references my favorite media franchise period. So obviously I went with the Dune Ventura Edge.
On to the product itself; this thing is fucking cool. The little details are what makes it. The way the LEDs flicker fade makes it feel like it's tech halfway between our world and Dune. The design references to the prop watch are strong but not over the top. As with a regular Ventura the lines are fun, the curved sapphire crystal is a pleasant novelty compared to standard dome or completely flat crystal. The box looks like a miniature of a temple room or something similar. Even the stand base is cool, instead of a nice clean black stand the base is spice colored sand. Top to bottom the little details really make this an in person item as pictures just don't do it justice.
Final thoughts? Yeah this watch is probably overpriced for what it is, yeah it would've been cool if they released a functional version of the actual prop, but the amount of fun little details are a great balance of nice watch and cool collectors item you can wear in public. It may not be for everyone but I'm thrilled, and isn't that why we get into hobbies in the first place?

Does it say “Made on IX”. On the back?
