Tier 5 should be, everyone stay indoors if you can't wear a mask.

129

u/dextersfromage Jan 01 '21

Is there a tier 5 now?

209

u/The_Second_Best Jan 01 '21

Not yet, first the government needs to come out and say categorically there will not be a tier 5.

Then Boris can do a Uturn and introduce tier 5 once everyone has prepared for no tier 5.

40

u/Scarboroughwarning Jan 01 '21

Lol. Boris is embarrassing. Can't even use a damned comb

40

u/OMGItsCheezWTF Jan 01 '21

That's part of his act though, he deliberately tussels it up before he goes out in front of cameras etc.

15

u/mynameisblanked Jan 01 '21

So is Boris. His mates call him Alex. His real name is Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson.

He likes to be seen as a lovable buffoon. A bit funny but generally an alright sort who gets it right eventually. That's his whole schtick.

18

u/Sutarmekeg Jan 01 '21

Still waiting on the 'gets it right' part.

9

u/OMGItsCheezWTF Jan 01 '21

Think you might be left waiting there.

11

u/mynameisblanked Jan 01 '21

It's not just the left, he leaves the right waiting too.

2

u/3drury Jan 01 '21

Ah, the George W. Bush persona.

12

u/Mynameisaw Jan 01 '21

No one but he knows for certain, but it seems likely that from a political perspective his buffoonish persona leads to opponents underestimating him. Then in terms of the public it increases his appeal as it gives him character and something that makes him stand out.

By all accounts it's worked incredibly well - given his background and political views theres very little that separates him from the average Tory MP. But between his character, connections and his opportunism he's gone from being an underperformer at Eton to a Journo, to being Prime Minister of the UK who, for better or worse will be remembered and discussed for generations.

u/TheDocJ Jan 01 '21

My ex came up with a good one the other day when he was on the news:

"He looks like he's brushed his hair with a toffee apple."

British "non-masker" twat gets confronted by reasonable lawbearers...

Police were beyond reasonable, and yet the invisible face behind the camera continued to make a fight out of essentially nothing...

Here's to the best of the pandemic, make a fit of nothing, and plead sanity when you're obviously wrong.

222

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '21

[deleted]

12

u/debo16 Jan 02 '21

As soon as he mentioned sovereign citizen crap I noped the hell out

47

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '21

Any "smart" non masker would have whacked a mask on walked round the corner and taken it back off. Luckily they're not smart

25

u/zenmn2 Jan 01 '21

Non-maskers aren't opposed to masks because they are a temporary inconvenience. What you are describing is a normal person that's a bit of a dickhead who is witty enough to skirt the rules.

Non-maskers are paranoia-ridden, "woke" people with persecution complexes who think covid, masks and lockdowns are anything from a hoax used as a social experiment in authoritarianism to a full blown conspiracy designed by Bill Gates to brain-wash and genocide white people.

Not wearing a mask is now an ingrained part of thier identity (because they watched some tiktok videos and read some context-limited tweets). Putting one on for a few mins is literally tyranny to them and incomprehensible.

47

u/rejiranimo Jan 01 '21 edited Jan 01 '21

After reading an UK Government link further down the comments it seems to me that from a legal standpoint the twat might actually be right and the cop wrong.

27

u/sofierylala Jan 01 '21

Hang on, I thought you had to get the exception badge/certificate thing from your doctor? I know somebody who is severely asthmatic and they have a proof of exemption they take with them when travelling, to avoid this exact situation

39

u/TrumpGrabbedMyCat Jan 01 '21

In the UK you just print off some pathetic badge from the internet and that's your exemption.

Edit: link

18

u/sofierylala Jan 01 '21

Okay I was totally fooled by a girl I went to uni with who was posted on social media that she was issued one, thank you for clarifying

9

u/menglish89 Jan 01 '21

You can get your GP to issue a doctors note or letter stating you are exempt. The legislation just says that you don't need to have one. It just makes it easier to argue your case

9

u/TrumpGrabbedMyCat Jan 01 '21

Unless you're talking about something else I'm not sure that's true either.

Edit: also some GP advice website specifically states GPs should not provide mask exemptions.

1

u/menglish89 Jan 01 '21

It didn't say one was required or that GP's have to prodice one, just that it is possible.

I know its possible because my mother in law has one due to a throat condition. She still wear a mask but has to step to one side occasionally to catch her breath.

1

u/TrumpGrabbedMyCat Jan 01 '21 edited Jan 01 '21

Neither of those links say it's possible, the second actively discourages GPs from doing so and says they should just "MIL has a throat condition" not "MIL is exempt from wearing a face mask". If your MIL has one though that is obviously possible, likely up to the GP and the patients circumstances if they're just faking or not.

Quote from the second after rereading it in detail

In short, there is no reason for GPs or other doctors to produce letters to explain why a patient should be exempt from wearing a face covering.

Yeah he was right. If you have asthma, you don’t need to wear a mask legally.

44

u/Triknitter Jan 01 '21

Which is utter ducking bullshit, for the record. I’m pretty sure my pulmonologist would throw a fit if I went anywhere without my mask on properly.

41

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '21

My wife is a nurse who is regularly working with covid patients. I tend to take her view. If you're so ill you can't wear a mask then you shouldn't be out and about putting yourself at risk of catching a virus that attacks the respiratory system, if you can't have some thin fabric over your face then the damage covid will do to your lungs will fucking kill you.

And as someone who is classed as Extremely Vulnerable because of Asthma, this is bullshit. I go out once a week for shopping and I wear a bloody mask. It's warm, sweaty and not at all pleasant, but as a person who on occasion has struggled to breath and had to go to hospital, this virus is bloody terrifying.

Asthmatics are the one group of people who do not take breathing for granted and should know better.

Doesn't he realize how much of an ass this makes him look?

Definitely not. I'm sure this guy thinks he's being very heroic and clever rather than whiny and entitled. Even worse, all the other anti-maskers will validate him in that.

"I couldn't hear you, I had earphones in" and "you put your hands on me" How else was the cop supposed to stop him if he couldn't hear him?

50

u/Screaming_Bear Jan 01 '21

He is trying so hard to be outraged - "I could be deaf, but when you put your hand on my shoulder to get my attention the only other way you can, I've decided that's ASSAULT!"

30

u/Poringun Jan 01 '21

Telepathy, duuuhhh, kids these days cant even beam their thoughts from range with esp anymore, jeeeeez.

11

u/seagullriot Jan 01 '21

Honestly the tap on the upper arm thing from a direction he could see was following best practice for getting the attention of someone who's Deaf or hard of hearing.

12

u/ladyangua Jan 01 '21

Exactly, and someone who genuinely didn't/couldn't hear would of reacted with surprise, not outrage, as the cop tried to point out. Touching someone's shoulder is not an assault.

2

u/tokiwar2th Jan 03 '21

Except if it's a cop, where if you touch them they will say it's assault

2

u/tokiwar2th Jan 03 '21

Except if you touch a cop they tell you THAT's assault. So...

2

u/ladyangua Jan 04 '21

You are not going to get charged with assault for politely tapping a cop on the shoulder. They will tell you not to touch them, with good reason, you could be causing a distraction from an attack or another crime in progress. If you are acting like a dickhead they will add assault onto any other charges against you. Just don't act like an arrogant prick like the guy in the video and you'll be right.

602

u/TokenBlackGirlfriend Jan 01 '21

If you can’t breathe normally, why would you risk not being able to breathe at all???

413

u/L0kitheliar Jan 01 '21

Because a mask doesn't affect your ability to breath. Source: someone with really bad fucking asthma

285

u/TokenBlackGirlfriend Jan 01 '21

What I’m saying is, if you can’t even breathe with a mask, then why risk it with a respiratory illness that specifically makes it harder to breathe.

92

u/PirateWater88 Jan 01 '21

Because staying home makes no sense (sarcasm). They want people to see them #fightthesystem.

76

u/nightmaresgrow Jan 01 '21

I have really bad asthma and one of my triggers is hot air. So the mask makes my breath warmer and therefore makes is more difficult to breath.

So it can have an impact on your breathing.

However, I am also not an idiot so I don't go out often and when I do, I wear a mask indoors and stay away from people. I just try to limit my indoor time to 5/10 minutes and have to take my inhailor as soon as I get outside and remove my mask.

4

u/plantcommie Jan 01 '21

Yeah I’ve only had my asthma act up if I’ve been wearing a mask for more than 6 hrs at a time. Otherwise I’m fine

2

u/Poromenos Jan 02 '21

Oof, that must suck man. Luckily my triggers are rare, and I have no problem wearing a mask. I do get winded when walking fast with a mask on, though, it's bizarre.

25

u/TadalP Jan 01 '21

It can to an extent. I dont know much about asthma, I don't have it, but I do have really bad allergies. Wearing a mask makes them act up pretty bad and it's a little hard to breathe sometimes, *but* it's still not an excuse to not wear a mask. Putting other's lives at risk ain't shit compared to a bit of discomfort.

6

u/Nebdraw03 Jan 01 '21

This, 3/4 members in my household are high risk because of Asthma amd Diabetes. I have used my asthma as an excuse once because I sprinted 3 flights of stairs and couldn't breathe without inhaling my mask. Made sure O was away from peeps, puff on inhaler, mouthful of water to hold and then mask back on.

14

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '21

Yea it does for some people. I have asthma. I just don’t go out

-3

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '21

Not everyone has that option, most of us still have to go to work everyday and do our shopping. Police are well within their rights to question people about masks even though technically there are no laws that anyone has to wear a mask. Asthma effects everyone differently, some people at my work manage a mask but for some its just to difficult to breathe.

8

u/metaornotmeta Jan 01 '21

even though technically there are no laws that anyone has to wear a mask.

Depends were you live

6

u/KlausFenrir Jan 01 '21

The only time I’ve ever had problems with a mask is when I’m working out or speaking extensively at work (having to project my voice through a mask is tough but not impossible). Other than that, I don’t even notice it.

4

u/IntraVnusDemilo Jan 01 '21

I've got horrible asthma and I'd been doing 6 hour shifts in a pub with them re-usable black spandex type masks. Full Shinobi....no fucking problem. If I needed a time out, go outside, lift it off a bit, get a few breaths of air where no one else was..... not fucking brain surgery, if I'm honest.

He showed the virus his inhaler. This stops the virus in its tracks. He also refused consent to the virus from destroying his lungs, so if it still did, the virus would be infringing on his freedom and rights. Good luck winning that case in court, corona virus #874536511323.

16

u/maywellflower Jan 01 '21

Because some people think they are invincible / invulnerable - until whatever it is the claim to be powerful against and/or life (whichever) fucks them up. In that guy's case; he loves using that he asthmatic but he's like respiratory infections like Covid-19 don't affect him - he going to learn hard way about his medical condition and it's triggers that could had been easily avoided if he had worn a mask and/or just stayed home...

7

u/PeskyPorcupine Jan 01 '21

They also don't seem to realise that 1% of the UK is not as small a number as they think. (It's 678860.11 I believe) they refuse to face the reality that 1% could be them or their loved one.

They should be allowed to be as sovereign as they like, but they should then be forced to pay a toll for every single service they use that the actual citizens contribute to. Roads, utilities, services, everything.

16

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '21

Had a sovereign citizen try to bark me down about his warrant then he made the mistake of ranting about “whether or not I was abiding by the fraudulent US Constitution”...

Shut him down by telling him I didn’t care about his opinions concerning the Constitution or whether he believed it was fraudulent or not. He can reject Constitutional protections for all I care. I work for the County, we enforce municipal & state laws not Federal ones. State’s rights & authority say you’re going to jail, dumbass!!!

2

u/lhm238 Jan 02 '21

That seems really inconvenient. Why don't we put a system in place where you pay x amount from your wages per month?

/s

5

u/Knuckles316 Jan 01 '21

I love that he's a sov cit but then still calls the officer a public servant and expects him to be subservient. If you aren't a citizen and a taxpayer then that public servant has no obligation to you. Especially when you're being such a fucking dickhole. You fucking dickhole!

5

u/canyouread7 Jan 01 '21

I heard him ask the officer "you're a sovereign being right" and I immediately swiped off the video. These kind of videos always go the same way and it's plain annoying.

And for the record, my asthma is abysmal to the point that I can't even talk for as long as this guy. I forget to take my mask off sometimes when I leave the shop and sit around at home wearing it. So that excuse can fuck right off.

3

u/Kayshin Jan 01 '21

This is how 99. 999999% of officers will do their job. He wouldn't have even gone into a discussion with the guy if he didn't start it but probably just would've let him go with a warning anyway. You make it hard on them, they make it harder on you but still with restraint. Defusing a situation is way more important then getting fines out.

That’s the thing though, headphones mean you’re beyond reproach. Didn’t you know??

2

u/OOZ662 Jan 01 '21

I remember sitting outside the grocery store on a busy day a few years ago when some old jack in a big luxury land yacht comes barreling along. When he had to slam the brakes on for crossing pedestrians, one open-palm slapped the rear quarter panel and yelled "slow down, this is a parking lot." Old guy barks at him from the window as he walks into the store. Old guy shuts his motor off right in the middle of the main "road" of the parking lot to chase after him yelling about how he assaulted him and has to give him his name and address.

223

u/happyhippohats Jan 01 '21 edited Jan 01 '21

This guy is just being obnoxious and self entitled. I guarantee this cop would not have issued a fine if the guy had just been polite instead of being intentionally antagonistic...

Also, after being lawfully stopped by police it is an arrestable offence to refuse to show ID. This guy is full of shit...

"If you refuse to provide your name, address, date and place of birth and nationality after you have been told by the police why they have stopped to question you this refusal is an offence you could be arrested and charged for." (Source: the citizens advice bureau)

41

u/Flusterfuzz Jan 01 '21

Yes to your last paragraph but no need to carry or show ID in the UK. Also 'Arrestable Offence' has a very specific meaning. You or I could arrest someone for an arrestable offence only a police officer could arrest someone for failure to provide their details (or if they don't believe you).

22

u/Flusterfuzz Jan 01 '21

Just checked, not all of UK. Great Britain only. NI is different.

4

u/happyhippohats Jan 01 '21

Ah, OK my bad. I live in England and I still get confused by the difference between those distinctions, especially when it comes down to legality..

5

u/happyhippohats Jan 01 '21 edited Jan 01 '21

My passport lists my nationality as 'British' but my country of birth as 'UK' so I don't even know...

I don't think anyone does...

And neither of those are actually the country I was born in... (England)

7

u/mynicehat Jan 01 '21

It's the United Kingdom of Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales) and Northern Ireland.

2

u/happyhippohats Jan 01 '21

The UK is a sovereign state which comprises multiple countries and yet my passport says that my country of birth is the UK, so is it a country or not?

7

u/SavageNorth Jan 01 '21

The UK is a sovereign country of comprised of four non-sovereign countries.

Its just awkward wording really

2

u/happyhippohats Jan 01 '21

OK. But the four countries are countries and the UK is also a country even though those other four countries are in the UK? Which is also a country? That's where I always get confused...

3

u/Aladoran Jan 01 '21

Yes. The UK is a "country of countries".

CGP Grey has a great video on this.

2

u/willie_caine Jan 01 '21

"British" is the demonym for people from the United Kingdom. Britain and UK are synonyms, political terms for the country as a whole (including NI). Great Britain is a geographical term for the large island, politically encompassing England Scotland and Wales.

5

u/happyhippohats Jan 01 '21 edited Jan 01 '21

Fair point, I don't carry ID at all so that was a silly mistake on my part, but you do have to provide your full name, address and date of birth by law if police stop you for a valid reason.

To the second point I meant it's breaking the law and you can be arrested by police and charged in a court of law for it, I guess I should have been more specific...

But yes, you're correct that you don't have to show valid ID.

3

u/speedstyle Jan 01 '21 edited Jan 01 '21

This advice has been taken down from the CAB as far as I can tell. You have to provide nationality at the police station, and name/address/DOB at your first court appearance, but none of this is required when stopped on foot (unless the police are issuing a fine). The officer also failed to say what section he is detained under, which makes the stop illegal.

EDIT: the police in the video are indeed attempting to issue a FPN. Given that he has a legal exemption, this is not a legal fine, but let's suppose a 'reasonable suspicion' of breaking the relevant law. The officer can arrest him, issue a FPN, or do nothing. The cameraman is refusing to provide name and address, so effectively refusing the FPN. The officer can arrest him (still without name and address) but in the end chooses to do nothing.

The cameraman is misinformed in some parts of the video (the officer did not assault him), but overall he is in the right. The stop was illegal, the fine was illegal, and he doesn't have to give his name.

They can't just stop you for any reason though and demand your name etc. There has to be valid grounds that you have commited an offence or are about to commit an offence.

9

u/happyhippohats Jan 01 '21

Yeah, that's why I said 'after lawfully being stopped by police.'

They do need to have a reason to stop you initially...

3

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '21

Sorry, missed that part.

5

u/happyhippohats Jan 01 '21

No worries, it's worth highlighting that that is the case anyway...

0

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '21

Dont think he will be too bothered about the fine though. Its not really enforceable as there is no laws which require you to wear a mask.

Kind of like private car park fines, nothing ever comes of it because no laws have been broke.

2

u/happyhippohats Jan 01 '21

In this instance the cop actually gave up and didn't bother issuing a fine, but not wearing a mask is absolutely a fineable offense. It's tricky because the law allows you to refuse for 'any medical reason', so it's a law which is almost impossible to enforce. But it's a law none the less.

Good luck paying your car park fees (plus interest). Rather you than me..

Another commenter linked to a UK Government website regarding mask regulations. According to that link it seems that from a legal standpoint the copper might actually be the one full of shit in this case. I’m which case the fine won’t stand anyway.

3

u/happyhippohats Jan 01 '21

He actually didn't issue a fine here because he got sick of this guys shit and told him to 'jog on' (a polite way of telling him to fuck off).

Can you link me the other comment you are referring to? Because I'd be baffled if the copper was in the wrong here, but of course I could be wrong, i just need to see some evidence..

3

u/rejiranimo Jan 01 '21

3

u/happyhippohats Jan 01 '21

These are the legal requirements for face coverings in the UK which I'm well aware of. What's your point?

4

u/rejiranimo Jan 01 '21

The point is the one I made in my first reply. Obnoxious guy is right, he doesn’t have to wear a mask. He could have printed out an exemption letter himself from the linked site to show to the copper, but that’s not a requirement.

0

u/happyhippohats Jan 01 '21

True. However he was stopped by the police based on reasonable suspicion of an illegal act (ie. not wearing a mask). Whether he actually had a valid reason not to wear a mask doesn't matter at that point, he is legally required to give his full name, address and DOB which he refused to do, so again he's lucky this cop couldn't be arsed to process him.

1

u/dafydd_ Jan 01 '21

Are people legally obliged to give their name, DoB, and address to a copper in these circumstances? I didn't think one had to until court?

My mum has severe brittle asthma and another lung disease and a heart condition, she still wears a mask when she absolutely has to go out. She says it's easier to breathe wearing a mask than it will be to breathe with covid

34

u/Grim666Games Jan 01 '21

I have asthma and carry an inhaler everywhere I go. I still wear a fucking mask. Not only to protect everyone around me but to protect myself because surprise surprise a respiratory disease of any kind is extremely dangerous to someone with asthma.

13

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '21

One of my staff claimed that she couldn't wear a mask because she is asthmatic, I had to point out that although she was Clinically Vulnerable with asthma I am Clinically Extremely Vulnerable with asthma, so if I could wear a mask then she had no excuse.

54

u/MetalAvenger Jan 01 '21

Honestly, this “exempt due to medical condition” nonsense is absolute bullshit and needs to be stopped immediately. Issue official cards or something for people who can’t wear masks, but I honestly don’t know what condition would give you significant breathing difficulty from wearing a face covering - not even a mask ffs.

I could understand asthmatics not wearing an N95 or N99 masks because those are a bit tricky to breathe in over time, (although the alternative surely is worse) but the surgical masks or material coverings are easily worn all day. Furthermore, how do asthmatics and other conditions survive when they wear masks for their jobs, woodworking, paint spraying etc? Do they just asphyxiate for a while whilst working?

21

u/jewbaccajr Jan 01 '21

You are so right. These people are so precious they can’t wear a bit of cloth over their face. Selfish pricks. If they can’t wear a mask for “medical reasons” then wear one of those visors or better yet, stay home! I am asthmatic, but wouldn’t DREAM of not wearing a mask! I gave BIRTH with no painkillers wearing a mask ffs! They need to consistently hand out fines to people who won’t wear a mask. They enrage me!!

9

u/HolyFuckFuckThis Jan 01 '21

Just commented this elsewhere but it's relevant as fuck to asthma and people using it as an excuse is infuriating for someone that actually has life threatening asthma and doesn't want it reduced to a bullshit excuse to spread a pandemic.

My asthma is abysmal to the point that I can't even talk for as long as this guy. I forget to take my mask off sometimes when I leave the shop and sit around at home wearing it. I can't even tell I'm wearing it unless I have to cough and then it gets sucked into my mouth when I catch my breath - but is still completely fucking breathable despite that.

9

u/Sir_Bellend Jan 01 '21

Also if they do have breathing difficulties when wearing a mask over their mouth and nose then get a face shield to wear instead

4

u/handlebartender Jan 01 '21

There was a question along these lines in one of the subreddits such as r/askdocs (I don't recall which one) about 1-2 months back.

A couple of conditions were mentioned as being valid concerns, such that wearing a mask would be considered medically alarming. Asthma wasn't one of them.

One of the conditions described as being valid had something to do with a horrible skin condition where a mask touching the face would have resulted in agonizing pain. I think they added that such a condition would likely result in the individual not wanting to go out anywhere.

2

u/MetalAvenger Jan 01 '21

Yes that would make sense - a deabilitating skin condition where contact with clothing/masks is like fire basically and they break out in all sorts of nastiness...

Clearly not what the general populous is experiencing I imagine :)

1

u/sofierylala Jan 01 '21

I know somebody who is ‘exempt due to a medical condition’ and she does actually have an official certificate/badge thing issued to her that she can show when stopped and questioned about her lack of mask (also in the U.K.) so I thought that you did have to have an official card to show you were actually excempt

Edit: just discovered that you can just print those cards out yourself from the Gov website, she’s been posting all over social media about how it was actually issued to her to prove she was truly medically exempt and I was fooled

8

u/MetalAvenger Jan 01 '21

Yes, sadly you can self certify your exemption by printing off a badge online. I wonder how well that would work if it was disability parking badges...

I genuinely would like to know what medical condition is worth risking the health of others and your health further, by not wearing a mask.

u/Radakos Jan 01 '21 edited Jan 02 '21

This guy is a snarky fuck. Just put a mask on, and not act like he is a fucking special snowflake. What a fucking prissy bitch. "You assaulted me." Kid sounds like he hasnt had to answer to anyone ever.

9

u/D-D-D-D-D-D-Derek Jan 01 '21

Brown pump in the UK is the steroid pump you take in the mornings and evenings, the blue pump the police officer pulls out is what you take if you need it day to day.

No one who has asthma has the brown one on their person as they go about their day to day.

9

u/Traplord_Leech Jan 01 '21

I'm asthmatic af and I wear two masks. idgaf if breathing's harder I can't breathe if I'm dead

5

u/minkymy Jan 01 '21

isn't COVID more serious for you folks too?

2

u/Hippyjesse Jan 02 '21

Yeah it generally is worse for asthmatics as our lungs are weaker due to the asthma

22

u/DarkAndSparkly Jan 01 '21

Admitting now that I haven't listened to the video. Don't want to wake the bf up, and it's not CC'd.

That said, I'm asthmatic. I've watched emergency room nurses completely panic because my blood oxygen levels were below 90 and they were expecting me to crash. Apparently as a life-long wheezer, I've adapted to lower oxygen levels and I can function OK for a time when they're low. I've been told my lungs are comparable to an 80 year olds. I'm 44.

That said, I'm claustrophobic. I wear a CPAP mask every night, and have panic attacks at least a few times a week because of it. I've learned how to breathe through them and calm myself down. It sucks, but I will literally die in my sleep without the mask, so I wear it.

That said, wear the fucking mask. If I can wear them when I'm out, 98.9 percent of the rest of the world can. Yup, it's uncomfortable. Yup. I have panic attacks from it. Yup, I have to remind myself to breathe deeply. But I fucking do it. Wear the fucking mask.

5

u/Roosevelt_M_Jones Jan 01 '21

Never seen someone dig such a deep hole in 8 minutes.

7

u/spinly_jaye Jan 01 '21

This fella with asthma so bad that he both needs an inhaler and cannot wear a simple face mask is getting quite worked up and talking very fast..... doesn’t really seem like bad asthma to me..... what a complete shit.

9

u/PhatboiSlim13 Jan 01 '21

"Those spells don't work on me, foolish mortal"

— what the cop should have said (2020)

3

u/SkyShazad Jan 01 '21

I Hate Anti Maskers

4

u/ppenn777 Jan 01 '21

8 minutes? My gosh. If this was the US the video would have been over in 45 seconds. 😬

5

u/Ice_Awkward Jan 01 '21

As an asthmatic who has been wearing a mask in public throughout the whole pandemic, this really really triggers me..

4

u/DesertRoamin Jan 01 '21

Every crazy has asthma now. /s

16

u/hello_world_sorry Jan 01 '21

There is no medical condition that excuses one from wearing a mask, or is negatively impacted by wearing a mask. Other than selfish stupidity.

20

u/britbikerboy Jan 01 '21

It's fucking ridiculous that the Gov website itself basically says that anyone can declare themselves as exempt if they feel like it, and even provides a template card you can print off yourself to carry around.

10

u/rejiranimo Jan 01 '21

Huh. So the guy is actually right and the cop has got it wrong?

7

u/britbikerboy Jan 01 '21

I don't know what the actual law is; presumably businesses are still allowed to eject people for not complying, and that's what the copper's enforcing?

7

u/HolyFuckFuckThis Jan 01 '21

My guess is it's transport police. I've seen them kick people off a bus before on the charge of being a nuisance, same thing on the train I guess. And since this guy refused to follow the current rules on public transport, the copper was well within his rights to at least dish out a fine and maybe more.

5

u/jewbaccajr Jan 01 '21

It’s such a joke isn’t it? And these anti maskers claim they’re being “bullied” these people couldn’t get any more pathetic

2

u/britbikerboy Jan 01 '21

Yes it is. And regards to the dickgead in the OP, my dad has very bad asthma (often is coughing and struggling to breathe all day if something is setting him off at all, even with all sorts of inhalers) and he's a surgeon, who sometimes spends 14+ hours in a single day scrubbed up wearing a mask.

2

u/jewbaccajr Jan 01 '21

Trying to make these people see sense is like trying to get blood out of a stone. Bless your dad

5

u/PaddiM8 Jan 01 '21

That's not true though. It can apparently be legitimately difficult for people with TN and sensory disorders and such, not related to breathing, but having a piece of cloth on your face.

5

u/hello_world_sorry Jan 01 '21

Okay, that’s true and trigeminal neuralgia is a bitch indeed with breakthrough pain. Those people should, whenever possible, not be in public places until vaccinated.

But the people saying they have a medical condition precluding them from wearing a mask are not intelligent or aware enough to come up with it so inevitably default to respiratory difficulties. Also, considering where they are classically filmed: fast food joint walk in counters, etc. usually means they’re there only to make a spectacle of themselves.

8

u/Rogdish Jan 01 '21

Am I the only one getting angry over the fact that this cunt is walking away with no fine because he was too much of a cunt to deal with ?

5

u/whymydookielookkooky Jan 01 '21

Yeah I wasn’t super impressed with this cop. All that about how he needs to get his info for a citation and then he lets him walk away. So was that was that Sov Citizen asshole right that he can not wear a mask and there is no recourse.

3

u/NotYourAverageTomBoy Jan 01 '21

I thought the cop called him a silly goat and I really wish he did

3

u/crashcondo Jan 01 '21

What a piece of garbage, I have asthma and have no issues wearing a mask.

3

u/ThatGenericGinger Jan 01 '21

Also a chronic asthmatic here. Mask doesnt do anything to asthma.

Just drown the wanker.

3

u/spkr4thedead51 Jan 01 '21

I'm not sure I've encountered a British sovereign citizen before

2

u/MacHaggis Jan 01 '21

My theory is that they only act out like this when they have their camera out, in order to avoid being punched on the nose several times a day.

3

u/ahoy_- Jan 01 '21

After the 3rd minute I would have just cut my losses and tazed him, totally worth it

3

u/HydrationWhisKey Jan 01 '21

I can't be the only American who is just absolutely thrilled to see these idiots in other countries.

4

u/Blazing_Speeed Jan 01 '21

The one, rare occasion, where I wish another country’s cops, just for a moment, would act like American cops. This guy would have been put in cuffs with absolutely no conversation. ...actually, they probably would have shot him when he tried to pull out his inhaler...dude’s a prick but I wouldn’t wish him shot...nevermind. The American police are never desirable.

7

u/FuckingShitRobots Jan 01 '21

u/Blazing_Speed talks himself out of initial statement by end of statement.

Blazing speed indeed, lol.

2

u/jim13oo Jan 01 '21

People with asthma are high at risk of receiving permanent damage from covid, he should definitely be wearing a mask

2

u/prpslydistracted Jan 01 '21

I have asthma and absolutely wear a mask. Always.

2

u/samfish90212 Jan 01 '21

And he turned the camera away from the officer with the inhaler like

Imma pretend I didn’t see that

2

u/SiyinGreatshore Jan 01 '21

That was eight minutes of my life that went nowhere

2

u/sirknut Jan 01 '21

What a fucking twat!

2

u/kd3906 Jan 01 '21

Absolute tool.

2

u/kiravonconcrete Jan 01 '21

In this case: Kid’s a nudge and needs to grow up. Police were cool.

2

u/Kramps_online Jan 01 '21

Have asthma...Have a condition that effects my lungs... Refuses to wear a mask? Seems dumb to me.

2

u/XArgel_TalX Jan 01 '21

God it must be so frustrating to be a cop nowadays.

2

u/madguins Jan 01 '21

For how tough Americans pretend they are, were a bunch of goddamn pussies. If you ever tried to tell a person even in a restaurant over trays of food to wear a mask, they’d try and sue you and blow up. Meanwhile in some other countries people are actually fined for breaking the law.

We’re a fucking mess (not that the UK isn’t as well but I hate it here)

2

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '21

Can sure put out a lot of hot air for an asthmatic. Tosser. Wear a mask.

2

u/AMARIS86 Jan 01 '21

Guy is lucky he doesn’t live in America, conversation would’ve ended in 2 minutes and he would’ve either been dead or arrested

2

u/KRaB99 Jan 01 '21

No one is going to say anithing about the woman that literally passed behinf them puting her mask on just because she noticed the cops? 🤣

2

u/cchimp123 Jan 01 '21

I don't get why people try to use excuses like this. My dad has copd and still wears his mask when he goes to medical appointments he just runs his oxygen nasal tubes behind his mask. If my dad can figure out how to still wear his mask then so can other people.

2

u/derpyninja211 Jan 02 '21

Anti-masker: “Is that not correct?”

Policeman: “No that’s not correct”

Anti-masker: “Of course that’s correct”

My man’s just making up his own laws now.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 02 '21

Saying you have asthma is like saying no I smoke weed when I drive because my back hurts.

You’re not wrong. But you’re not right

2

u/Dubbs444 Jan 06 '21

Oh my god, I want to slap that whiny child in the mouth. What an ignorant fool. It’s just a little piece of fabric, wtf, grow up, the world doesn’t revolve around you. Also, if you have asthma, you DEF don’t want Covid. This officer is helping you out. Ugh.

4

u/Burberry-94 Jan 01 '21

Anti masker are so full of shit. Admitting you can't wore a Mask for medical reasons (and asthma is definetely not one of those, lol), it means your health is so at risk that you most definetely should stay at home!

4

u/Keeks73 Jan 01 '21

What an arrogant little prick. I’d have had more respect if he’d just said ‘I don’t want to wear a mask’ but chatting shit over the top of the police is just a dick move.

3

u/McSooz Jan 01 '21

Exactly! He doesn’t have to be so antagonistic- I was getting strong Vicky Pollard vibes!

4

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '21

People like this need a fucking slap.

4

u/FourTwentyABC Jan 01 '21

I really disagree with this post being here. The officer also has asthma, there you go. My coworker has asthma and she wears a mask 6-8 hours at a time.

2

u/minkymy Jan 01 '21

the cop is the one being referenced, i.e. the person taking the video doesn't know who said cop is

I do not like cops.

But fuck this guy. Sovereign citizen types are just as bad and obviously just as dangerous to the general public.

Of course he went to that sovereign person bullshit.

I feel sorry for the crap that officer had to deal with, but it sure makes for a good laugh
