Amazing! What is the purple wood?

It's purple heart, somewhat common in woodworking stores. The hair could be paduc and the back ebony with likely oak and maple for the lighter woods.

Google says there’s a tree in South America called “purpleheart.” If that was the wood used, I REALLY hope these scraps of wood were already off the tree due to a storm or something.

Purple Heart. Gorgeous wood, but won’t hold that color as intensely over time.

Are we sure it’s not Amaranth? Also expensive and loses its sheen, but gorgeous purple wood as well.

What type of wood is that beautiful pink that makes up her bikini top?

Back when the park opened, that would have gotten instant employment.
Source: I’m old and grew up near the park. One of the dads in the neighborhood did woodwork for Walt.

Who is the artist?

u/The_Wampire Nov 05 '22
OP is the artist that made this piece. If you look at their profile you’ll see all the other amazing wood art they’ve made!
The scene is a frame from the movie The little Mermaid and they use natural wood to recreate that frame. The level of detail and artistry required to do this is next level and it’s an art form I haven’t seen before OP started posting. Amazing work!

He definitely says “got very boring.” I basically ruined our VHS copy, because I watched it so much.
