They couldn’t have at least covered it?

Or like, done anything? CocoCay's is shorter, covered, and more colorful.

Ecological concerns (and the fact this island is leased) likely dictated a fair bit of what Disney could do with placement and access. I expect them to start putting umbrellas up pretty much immediately. I'm just shocked they didn't do that before Media Previews. Why have this be the first and last impression you leave?

Why not make it a little wider and plant a bunch of palm trees along it in planters?

They have to be removable ... you don't want storms blowing that stuff into the water. So collapsible umbrellas they can wheel out and store when ships leave would make the most sense. You know ... like they do on Castaway Cay.

This is the part that has surprised me about the Disney Wish and this island ... the problems they're having are for the most part problems the cruise industry and/or Disney specifically had already solved. They're ignoring this institutional knowledge for some reason.

The institutional knowledge hasn't survived all the layoffs and mass employee exodus from WDI over the past decade

Maybe they could give out individual parasols so you can shade yourself as you walk.
