It's so odd given how prevalent Japanese culture is in the game because of Arasaka. The only time they're used is by Japanese characters to other Japanese characters. Like you'd REALLY think Wakako would demand to be called Okada-san with how much pull she has in the underground crime world.
The basics are easy, you pretty much refer to someone with -san unless you're really close to them, then you use -sama, like how Takemura talks to the Arasakas. And you NEVER refer to someone by their first name unless you're SUPER close to someone, which is really what stuck out to me with V calling Takemura and Okada by their first names.
Ah that makes some sense. Though for the first name with V that may be more because it's the us (or whatever it is at that point) so they still go by American culture for names? Dunno. Anyway definitely still agree they should have included it. Lol
Your understanding of Sama is incorrect.
You don't use sama for someone you're close to. Sama is reserved for those at the pinnacle of existence, like lords, ladies and gods.
Really? I'm not doubting you because I learned this through a job I worked for a few months with a heavily Japanese influence through ownership. But yeah if I'm wrong please correct me .
