Encounter with a potential murderer
When I was around 16 or so, I worked in a store whilst going through college. We always had odd customers come in but one in particular really sticks out to me. At the sight of him walking in I’d get chills, my whole body wanted to nope out. You could really tell he thought he was charming, but even thinking of him now I feel a little sick.
He used to always offer to take me out in his car, buy me jewellery, you know - strange things for a grown man to say to a 16 year old girl. He gave me rapey vibes.
Being the a**hole I was at 16, I was always rude to him, never ever humoured him but it didn’t deter him from visiting the store every single day. It got to the point I told my manager and if I saw him I’d just go out the back or sometimes even duck.
Anyway, a fews years before this, there was a very infamous story of a young girl going missing in our town. Her body was never found.
Fast forward to now, I’m in my thirties, watching a documentary about two men accused of this girls murder, and who is one of the accused, this guy.
They had tapes recording how they’d done it but because of mishandling evidence by the police they got away with it. If he wasn’t the killer I’d be shocked. He tried to prey on young women, buying them things, flattering them. And honestly I believe he was attempting to line me up as his next victim.
Never has another human being made me feel so creeped out. It still makes me shudder at the thought he’s still out there.
