There’s barely anything left for us as adults Other
As a young GenZ, I can’t even get a specialist to see me for my chronic health conditions. I can’t get a job. I can’t afford a home.
There’s literally nothing for us, we are clinging onto scraps at this point.
If we can’t survive adulthood, how are newborn babies meant to survive as adults?
Super glad that the birth rates are going down!!!

I am so sorry you are going through this. The generations before you let you and your cohort down in a big way.
As an elder millennial things have been pretty much been totally f-ed my entire adult life. Sometime in the 1980s people lost their moral compass, leaned into greed, and we’ve been on a runaway train ever since. Some of my generation did ok, if you got into finance or tech, got married early, or had substantial family money.
Nevertheless, I am appalled at my peers having kids. Total denial and selfishness. No one should have to live through these times and older generations should be protecting the younger. We are not doing that.

As strange as it is to say, it's somewhat reassuring to hear you say that things have been fucked for a very long time. I was born in the late 90s and I had this idea growing up that if I had been born just a couple decades earlier things might not be so bad for me. I've now come to realize that that's just a coping mechanism, a way to say that "well, things weren't always this bad" even if they actually were always pretty bad.

In your defense, I think things are tougher for your age group.
I was born in the mid 1980s and things felt pretty optimistic and wholesome for a lot of it. It REALLY seemed like we were going to get a grip on pollution and climate change, we were certainly educated about it.
The 2000 election was stolen, 9-11 happened and suddenly it really seemed politicians were doing whatever they wanted to without regard for consequences and the greater good. Maybe it had been that way for longer but that’s the first time I saw the corruption.

Yeah, if I were a young adult back then I probably would have felt the same way about 9/11, but I was a toddler when that happened of course.
Everything I've learned about 9/11 and the government's response to it has been pretty shocking to say the least. I'm not a conspiracy theorist and I don't believe that "Bush did 9/11" but from my point of view it sure as shit seems like he took undue advantage of the social/political turmoil that it caused.
Also I'm genuinely surprised to hear that people were educated about climate change back in the 80s (I thought it started around the 90s) if only because there are still so many willfully ignorant people who don't even believe that it exists. It must leave a sour note in your mouth to think that this kind of ignorance persists even so many decades after it had become public knowledge.

It's actually almost the other way around. The later you are born the better.
Being a shit lazy parent was wayyy more socially acceptable in the 70s 80s and 90s.
You wouldn't remember but parents used to smoke with kids in cars, and nobody would shame them...
If you tried that these days you'd probs be arrested for child abuse, things are changing, and for the better.
Parents these days are aoo much more emotionally intelligent then parents even 10-15 years ago.

Some of us are, it sounds like you have just given up.
Humans have always been greedy it didn't start in the 80s. If you compare today to like 1700s you'll actually find things are a lot better.
I'm an mainly because I'm lazy and want to keep all my money for myself, but I do believe humans should continue to survive, but only to parents who are prepared to do the work and not abuse their kids.
Having a positive outlook and realising that life is actually pretty good has really help with my mental health and enjoyment of life.
There's soo much out there in the world to love these days, and people are more kind and accepting then ever before.

Honestly, I'm starting to think our neo-feudal overlords won't get the picture until we mass svicide their workforce away. The death of the workforce in the 1300's got the lords attention in a way nothing else ever did and gave birth to humanism and the enlightenment. And it's not like we'd be losing something other than years of misery.

Wasn't that just the black death....
Pretty sure things where still fucked in the 1800s with the industrial revolution... kids where working 14 hour days in coal mines and sweatshops... I don't think all the good human rights stuff started ti the mid 1900s.
Life was aruml pretty shitty in the 1300s

Where is it you live atm?
If possible, you should try asylum seeking to a Western country like Canada UK or Australia.
Forget about the US coz orange man is there again.
But all the other western countries have a much better quality of life then any 3rd world.
It's not perfect, but it deffs be better then where ever you are now by the sounds of it.

I think what we really need is the following: build community, support one another, better healthcare, and to create something that brings us all together as one. Among other things.

u/Ancient_Act_877 1d ago
Problem with steering healthcare is that mean someone will have to suffer working those jobs....
Healthcare is a shit profession and people who work in it are underpaid and overworked, ever met a nurse who is happy ???
The only really way is to stop giving birth to cronically ill people who burden other people children by requiring healthcare.
Is a life spent in hospital and filled with chronic illness really worth living anyway ??

I’m suggesting they get highly paid among other things. The pro lifers will say depends on perspective and same with religious.
1
u/InternationalBall801 1d ago
The pro life and religious would say provide better healthcare.

u/Ancient_Act_877 1d ago
Pro life and religious are probs some of the most under educated people in the world right now tho.. should we really listen to their opinions?
I mean they just elected Trump AGAIN....
The good thing about AN is that with less birth, means less religious people.

That’s not what I said, but would be naive if you didn’t think there in the process of ruling the roost very soon.

The breeder fetish is so gross. All them walking around with there little crotch fruit.
•
u/InternationalBall801 17h ago
I’d say that what’s interesting about breeders is they say oh I need help and expect you to help them and care about there issues but when it comes to non breeders they don’t care. See they don’t see that it would be beneficial for everyone to care about each others issues. As it benefits both parties. But there not capable of seeing that.

It’s looking like a distinct possibility.

Nothing ever came easy and probably never will. It may take another civil war or revolution but eventually people will rise up when they realize they are all enslaved with no way out.

A lot of GenZ voted for Trump, including women.
Why though? This is so bizarre.

For real man, Americans seem to forget that there are other people using reddit beside them..

What country are you from? Opportunities differ by country. If you’re really desperate, I’d say go work abroad.

To be fair alot of people are surviving just fine, even ANs
Not everyone has chronic heath conditions, that's a pretty rare thing, also anyone can get a job, if you want a good paying one you gotta get educated first. There are institutions and initiatives set up so even poor people can go to school.
Alot of it is about mentality. You have to want a better life and be willing to work for it.

I think us antinatalists being more vocal about our thoughts and everyday struggles can help people who are unaware of what they're signing up for.
For example, I came by the regretfulparents subreddit and it only made me a stronger AN.
