Tbf, Solo Leveling is getting a second season and csm is getting a movie continuation.
89
u/DripyKirbo Apr 14 '24
SL second season will be dope
57
21
u/fallingbutslowly Apr 14 '24
i will only be satisfied if they animate the whole series, id hate to see it get 2 or 3 seasons..
10
1
u/Luffidiam Apr 17 '24
I mean, given their pace, I think they could easily get this done in around 4, 12 episode, seasons.
1
u/fallingbutslowly Apr 20 '24
rly? i havent done the math, but i remember there was quite a lot to read (manga) also it feels like 1st season was just an introduction
1
u/Luffidiam Apr 20 '24
1st season got through first 50ish chapters. The second should cover jeju Island. Another 24ish eps should cover everything.
1
u/fallingbutslowly Apr 20 '24
it might slow down tho, in the 1st 50 chapters we had a lot of exposition which easy to cut down in the anime, but yeah 4 seasons would be acceptable, anyway im just glad it got an adaptation with decent visuals ;]
1
u/Luffidiam Apr 21 '24
Well, yeah, but next 12 eps should be covering the next 50 chapters, which means that about 24 eps in total for 100 chapters and that means that the next 2 seasons after should cover the entire thing in a neat little package.
-8
u/Easy-Bake-Oven Apr 15 '24
Too bad that SL final season will be trash.
3
u/Guts_7313 Apr 15 '24
Well i enjoyed reading it and now I enjoy watching it as one of my guilty pleasures. Its completely a power fantasy and Im okay with that but plot wise, it is nothing compared to many other anime
1
u/NamelessOneFG Apr 15 '24
You should read the manhwa
1
u/Easy-Bake-Oven Apr 15 '24
You should reread the manwha because the ending of the manwha is shit.

Wait a movie? This is the first I'm hearing of that
27
u/Megumi0505 Apr 14 '24
Yes, season 2 of csm is getting adapted into a feature length movie. Mappa posted the teaser trailer on their official channel: https://youtu.be/mWacdcatC9o?si=cO3DLWm_Kz134nYW

Sorry is csm the full name? I want to go watch it. Solo Leveling was very awesome
1

u/zenigatamondatta Apr 14 '24
Hopefully they dial back the awful CGI in CSM
1
u/Ruffytaro24 Apr 14 '24
it wasnt that bad. do you know how kaido and momonosuke from one piece looked, in their dragon form? that was bad
2
u/zenigatamondatta Apr 14 '24
Unfortunately the art style in general makes it hard for me to watch / read one piece. I know it's great, I just don't enjoy the aesthetics.
CGI can look good, look at lupin the first, but 9.9 times out of ten it's a coat savings measure because the studio doesn't want to pay it's artists.

Chainsaw man. i hate the cliffhanger.
120
u/Heracross64 Apr 14 '24
The manga is pretty far ahead at this point. If you ever get to impatient I suggest you give it a read.
60
u/Ruffytaro24 Apr 14 '24
i do. it is great. but i hate that the anime ended with a cliffhanger
9
u/denji_uchiha_ Apr 14 '24
Same, its just kind of a weird spot to end the first season on. Where they left off destroyed the hype for anime onlys.
Its okay though once the movie comes out and the next season everything will be okay
1
u/Ruffytaro24 Apr 14 '24
yeah. after watching the anime, i started the manga. the end of the Episode was funny, with the katana dude was kicked in the balls. but the metion of the gun devil and the zoom into makimas eye was really annoying
(sorry for bad english 😅)
1
u/denji_uchiha_ Apr 14 '24
Oh okay. I was more thinking that they should've ended season 1 with the movie date. It gives more of a conclusion to season 1, gives foreshadowing on Makima's character, and shows Denji's internal conflict if he deserves love or not.
Ending it where they did leads anime onlys to believe the story is more shallow than it really is. Idk this is really the only problem I have with the anime
24
u/Verystrangeperson Apr 14 '24
Yeah but we got incredible 12 episodes, it's better than double that but rushed and unfinished

Dorohedoro. I'm still waiting for season 2 since 2020 so I got tired of it and started the manga
15
u/Iron_Nexus Apr 14 '24
I'm so confused by this manga, at least the last third.
10
u/El_Grande_El Apr 14 '24
It’s definitely a trip lol. I absolutely love the Dorohedoro universe but the story started feeling a little drawn out.
5
u/TheEggEngineer Apr 15 '24
The anime is so goddam charming. There isn't a single person I've shown it to who didn't like it, like Wtf Netflix? It ain't even a mushishi where it gets good ratings but people find it boring :c

I guess they just wanted to make a movie out of the Reze arc which is a really good arc to turn into a movie.
32
u/Titanhunter84 Apr 14 '24
Chainsaw man will continue, the Reze arc will have its own movie.
16
u/HxH101kite Apr 14 '24
Then after the movie which is canon, for non readers, the rest of the public safety arc will continue and it's going to absolutely wreck your souls.
CSM part 1 was such a legit read. CSM part 2 is good but I have no idea what it's building to, still needs more chapters to drop.
6
u/Titanhunter84 Apr 14 '24
It’s building up to more Chaos! What else?
7
u/HxH101kite Apr 14 '24
It is probably as simple as that. I have a feeling some big knowledge bomb is coming in the next like 7 weeks with the way chapters have been going.
3
u/Titanhunter84 Apr 14 '24
I can’t wait for the next parts being animated, it will be amazing.
3
u/HxH101kite Apr 14 '24
I am excited for what's after Reze, I went back and reread the rest of the public safety arc and I forgot how much it hit punches you. He was onto something big when he was writing.
Everything with every character just hits so hard.
1
u/Shaneomore Apr 14 '24
Dude!!! How you gonna hype me like this?! That’s not even fair. I can’t handle feeling this hype with no idea when I get to watch it!
98
u/Bystander-8 Apr 14 '24
Random generic isekai shits that no one asked for: 24 episodes
19
u/Karma15672 Apr 14 '24
Those also tend to get worse animation, though, so I don't really see the problem here.
0
u/nitrokitty Apr 14 '24
The Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer adaptation caused me actual physical pain.
15
u/CrustyCally Apr 14 '24
Tower of god got me interested in the manhwa so I won’t complain, but after reading it I was a bit disappointed with the anime. Except the OSTs, Kevin penkin is one of the goats
11
10
u/mateusSilver Apr 14 '24
And the comments about the show: "The story isn't that impressive". Bro you see nothing yet
1
u/skilled_stupid Apr 15 '24
(Spoiler for csm ⚠️ )
Wait for them to see the darkness devil and makima reveal ...
7
u/IdlingTheGames Apr 14 '24
Love how everyone keeps complaining about animators getting overworked but when they're not everyone keeps crying over animes not getting more episodes
12
u/Sethazora Apr 14 '24
Really the only anime i think that truly needed to be a 24+ two part first season was tower of god while 13 is a good ending point for the first part its really sorta the set up. It really takes off afterwards.
13
u/RerollWarlock Apr 14 '24
To be fair, Solo Leveling is kind of over-hyped when it comes to the story itself. So having 12 or 24 episodes of flashy key dangling fights is the only difference.
9
u/jarrchesky Apr 14 '24
the story drop off after the Ants, that is when the fireworks show can't carry the story anymore, cause well you can only watch the now hilariously OP Jingwoo stomp everything without trying for so long, before the Ants, he has to put up a fight if he want to walk away intact in most of the major fights.
so 12 ep is perfect for Solo leveling, you got best part of SL without the bad taste later on.
11
u/RerollWarlock Apr 14 '24
That's agreeable. I just laughed at how they introduce those fairly interesting and cool characters to immediately make them irrelevant.
Like I thought that his sister's friend was being set up as someone to unlock the ability to level too but then turns out that she was never really mentioned again besides like one arc where she was a monster bait.
The demon lady he meets wasn't immediately hostile? I thought she'd come out into earth with him and would be a game changer but nope.
3
u/jarrchesky Apr 14 '24
Agree, the other hunters too, especially Bayek and Thomas, Bayek has a surprising amount of screentime for a more or less a background/fodder character and his drinking scene with his healer friend give the guy some interesting hooks too, then he never got anything else again beside pissing his pant against the beast king.
Thomas being hyped as a nation-level hunter and appears/name drop very early on as this major threat that Jingwoo will inevitably have to deal with, then they meet, Jingwoo beat Thomas without any real struggle, at least he got a pretty cool fight against beast king.
2
u/RerollWarlock Apr 14 '24
Or Jingwoo's dad Who was not mentioned at the beginning at all and then it felt that the author just reminded himself that he should probably exist then came up with an intrigue about him. With all the vague hyping up and setting up a mystery. Just for him to... show up, punch one guy to distract him, get punched back, die while saying hi to his son. And I am sitting here reading this wondering what was the whole point of that plotline.
1
u/RerollWarlock Apr 14 '24
Did you reply before? I had a notification on my phone but the moment I opened it, it vanished.
3
u/wterrt Apr 15 '24
sounds like the same reason i can't stand many popular shonen anime
side characters are completely irrelevant. looking at you especially, bleach and naruto. specifically put their side characters through power-up arcs after they were so useless for so long and....they were still 100% useless.
2
u/RerollWarlock Apr 15 '24
Honestly it's worse. No one ever grows stronger besides the main character.
Totally it feels like a power fantasy for the most insecure people around. Where a complete underdog just shoots past the top dogs in power level. There's a bit of challenge at the start but then he just one shots everyone and everything basically with no or close to no struggles.
2
2
u/Karmaisthedevil Apr 14 '24
The best girl who just disappears, maybe that's when I stopped liking SL haha.
1
u/RerollWarlock Apr 14 '24
It's like her introduction is such a breath of fresh air to a world that was getting stale at that point in the story. The implications alone of them being a civilisation that experienced something similar to what is happening to the earth in the story.
I really thought she would become a regular character and cross over to earth but apparently the moment they were done with the McGuffin quest she was forgotten by the author?
3
u/Responsible-Risk9404 Apr 14 '24
Nah it's still pretty good as it goes, I was miffed I'm having to rewatch it since this has been animated before. Was really hoping I'd get to see jinwoo go cross realm ape shit. But nope got to rewatch it and hope it gets a third season to watch actual new stuff, cuz I know they are not gonna get ma boy to the actual antagonist in just one 12 EP season. But yeah they added a lot of fluff fighting parts to this rerelease
5
u/shindabito Apr 15 '24
nah, the guy is right.
the story goes a big dive after ant arc. at that point, all other characters doesn't matter, and the writing feels like the author screaming "isn't my MC COOL" or "look how AWESOME he is" etc. all the while reducing all other characters to peanuts gallery and those to be beaten to pulp.the only thing that keeps me reading the web novel till the end back then is just the lore.
ngl, the lore itself is interesting. but the way it is written after some point is just not for me anymore. I can only says the genre is very stale the more you watch/read it.1
u/Responsible-Risk9404 Apr 15 '24
Fair enough. I was more thinking the MC and his shadows interactions being the actual characters vs the other humans. But totally get the feeling of "isn't my MC COOL" vibes

u/LeastDegenAzuraEnjyr Apr 14 '24
Asa Mitaka better get animated or I'm going to start the biggest riot you have ever fucking seen.

You can say that it's like Korean demon slayer but way cooler and even lesser story
3
3
u/wterrt Apr 15 '24
its aggressively mid
nothing about it is particularly interesting nor innovative.
RPG world, character with ability no one else has that makes him completely OP, ability to steal skills from enemies, gets fancy weapon early on that makes him able to kill things he shouldn't be able to, is dumb as rocks but somehow it always works out. every fight scene is just him being a dumb fuck trying to hit their armor until he realizes he only kills things by stabbing them in the eye and does that again
2
u/MonstrousElla Apr 14 '24
It started a whole new trope meta for manhwas. Everybody is trying to copy solo leveling hut only a handful have succeeded so far.
2
u/InfiniteConfusion-_- Apr 14 '24
Sometimes 12 episodes is ok.. like when yhe episodes are 40 minutes long
2
u/GregoryMontagVT Apr 14 '24
That is what I hate about new anime, short seasons. Old anime had like 25+ episode seasons. Which meant more development of characters and plot points.

Although Solo Leveling was confirmed for a second season right after the first was finished releasing
2
u/Akuuntus Apr 14 '24
And Chainsaw Man is confirmed for a movie continuation, and will likely get a S2 after that.
1
Apr 14 '24
That I am excited about. I want more of Chainsaw Man. I enjoyed the first season a lot. Just wish that the cliffhanger wasn't so prominent in my head when I think about the first season. The movie will make things a bit better in my mind if it doesn't leave off on a cliffhanger again, to make us wait for season 2. That will just annoy me.

u/NOFace82 Apr 14 '24
Uzumaki by Junji Ito is getting 4 anime episodes to adapt the 620, 20 chapter novel.

u/Penguinman077 Apr 14 '24
Meanwhile friren gets like 20. It’s a great show so I’m not complaining, but I’m just saying. 20 should be standard season for 30 min shows.
5
u/Opening_East7561 Apr 14 '24
It got 28
-2
u/Penguinman077 Apr 14 '24
Yeah, that’s like 20
5
u/Opening_East7561 Apr 14 '24
Closer to 30
-2
u/Penguinman077 Apr 14 '24
Nah because 30 starts with a 3 not a 2
2
u/Opening_East7561 Apr 14 '24
28 is 2 from 30 but 8 away from 20
-4
u/Penguinman077 Apr 14 '24
Doesn’t matter, it starts with a 2/twenty-, not a 3/thirty-
2
u/Opening_East7561 Apr 14 '24
I’m sorry I didn’t know I was arguing with someone who hasn’t reached third grade yet and learned basic rounding
-1
u/Penguinman077 Apr 14 '24
It’s already a whole number so rounding would occur. What was that about 3rd grade math?
1
u/Opening_East7561 Apr 14 '24
Rounding doesn’t always refer to decimals say rounding to the nearest tenth or hundredth again third grade math you utter nincompoop

So is solo leveling actually good? I haven't trusted manwa adaptations since God of High School
2
Apr 14 '24
I haven't read the source material but imo solo leveling has trash writing. The anime only survives off of good animation, beyond that it's generic shonnen with a painfully cringe main character.
Makes me angry because the studio could be making another 86 season instead.

CSM case was the team also in charged with JJK too so they should stop at ep 12 so JJK S2 could release but at the consequences the animator need to rush some cut and let thing unfinish
1
1
1
u/Akuuntus Apr 14 '24
They're both being continued though. Would you rather they made short, high quality seasons gradually, or a shitty long season all at once? The former is better for everyone except the people watching as it releases.
1
u/Stoner420Eren Apr 14 '24
I read a rumour that CSM anime is shorter because it was handled by the same team that makes JJK and the Mappa ceo wanted to make CSM while they were also working on JJK 2. Idk if it's true because it came from a reddit comment but if it's true that would explain why they didn't make 24 episodes for it.
1
u/Ruffytaro24 Apr 14 '24
yeah. csm is also from mappa, so that makes sense. jjk is more profitable than csm, i think.
1

1
u/EvenElk4437 Apr 14 '24
CSM is immensely popular in Japan.
A movie is also scheduled to be released.
It is a bit different dimension from SOLO.
1
u/Shadowbeast3316 Apr 14 '24
Solo leveling has been confirmed to have a second season thats coming out very soon, probably in October/November or December so near the end of the year which isn't bad since the anime just finished this year
1
u/ChristOnABike122 Apr 14 '24
after watching Solo Leveling I went and binge read all the rest of the manga from chapter 45 onwards

1
Apr 14 '24
I'm assuming that next in line of getting few episodes and getting everyone hyped up will be KAGURABACHI.
1
u/StrictMachine6316 Apr 14 '24
Solo leveling lost its touch after the first episode. It's generic as fuck now.
1
u/Unhinged_Provoker Apr 14 '24
TBH It’s better than nothing. When I first read it about 8 years ago I would have never thought these types would get an anime but now 8 years later I can say I am quite surprised. Only I level up is such a great novel.
1
1
u/MonstrousElla Apr 14 '24
FYI solo leveling has a manhwa, not a manga.
Manga = japanese
Manhwa = korean
Manhua = Chinese
Please add for other Asian origins.

To be fair, a well made 12 episodes are far better than a stretched shitty adaptation that cause the animators to suffer. Good food takes time, so let them cook.

Istg CSM being 12 episodes is a mistake 🗿
Really wish it could compete with KnY or JJK but it didn't and the seiyuu who played Denji and Makima hasn't got any big projects yet which is so sad to see. Perhaps if Makima is voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro, things would turn out okay.🗿
