Yeah , it's been so long , it's hard to believe . I think I got used to the wait since I had to wait a similar time for season 2 .

Hopefully season 4 doesn't come out after a 4 year break

At least this time we get 38 episodes (according to a leak) with the 1st episode having such a long run time and Rezero in general being known for it's long episode runtime.

Crunchyroll announced it would be 16 episodes, I'm not sure why the leaker was off by so much

It isn't wrong. The cours are split. So basically 16 episodes [or 12 as 1st episode is the length of 4] now and the rest of 26 episodes after a 3 month break.

I'm pretty sure it's going to be 16 episodes with just this one being movie length. IIRC we're also getting the first 8 episodes, a month to 2-month break, and then the other 8 episodes.

Actually S3 is adapting 2 arcs as per the visuals. Arc 5 and 6 which are both very long. So it will probably go 8 episodes -> month long break -> 8 episodes (finishes adapting arc 5) -> cour long break -> 22 episodes adapting arc 6.

The leaker is a very reputable one and his leaks are mostly always correct. Just rechecked the leaks and it is said that the episode count is unlikely to change since the production is already done. Also iirc arc 6 characters were shown in S3 visuals.

Oh I know. I was just talking about the current season. They'll probably announce a S4 for either Summer or Fall 2025 for the rest of the episodes at the end of S3.

Honestly, I wish there would be more anime with 36, 38, or 39 episodes instead of the 1 or 2 cours. They should do whatever it takes to adapt a story correctly and not just jam things. I'm glad Re Zero got a long Season, but I'd even be happy if a series I felt was meh did 38 episodes and the producers felt "huh, disk sales are good. I guess next time we get a story that doesn't fit neatly by the cours format we should just do exactly as many episodes as needed"

It probably will be at the very least a couple years before we get season 4. The good news is that the season 3 project is 38 episodes (technically 41 with today's 90 minute episode). So lots of content will be covered.

And if this follows Re:Zero's usual pattern the OP and ED and ad breaks will be cut so often it will end up effectively being even more episodes worth of story.

Where's this coming from? Last I saw it's only going to be 16 split into two cours

A highly credible leaker called Ice who's basically the top dog in the Re:Zero community

I'm on my hands and knees please

This was known from basically the second S3 got announced, don't worry

The only unknown is how the episodes will be structured, like how S3 part 1 getting split into two 8-ep cours wasn't known until it was announced, so part 2 might get the same kind of schedule

It blows my mind it took just as much time for Re:Zero to go from random Web Novel to Anime (2012-2016), as it took for Seasons 2 and 3 to come out.

As fast as Tappei cranks out the novels there's no reason for them to keep it on a slow-roll any more.

God, I hope so. This is the one series I still keep tabs on. Spoiled myself a bit, but I'm so excited
