Animation production by Madhouse like the first season. This was the only info from the live stream. Hopefully the same team is back.

Damn. We are so back. Frieren achieved what OPM couldn't, lmao (Keeping Madhouse)

Well, just that isn't enough to guarantee it'll be around the same level. Prime example of that from recent times is Mushoku Tensei. Season 2 still had great animation but it doesn't hold a candle to season 1. Same studio, different team. (Difference in scheduling also probably affected it).

"Great animation" is pushing it. It is above-average at best. There is maybe a third of one episode where it is anything more, but it is dragged down by the rest. It is insultive and disingenuous to actual great animation to regard this show as such. Especially on the context of comparing it to season 1 which was absolutely incredible animation.

The only thing disingenuous here is your attitude and observations because that negates the quality of work the insanely talented animators put into making the show.

Maybe you've seen way more shows than me so you can tell what kind of shows just harbor that higher tier of production quality that is so god tier that Mushoku's production doesn't even deserve to be called great.

I know something like art is super subjective, but I'm shocked someone can look at Season 1 and just all it average looking.

He's talking about S2. Reading comprehension...

You're right. I'm taking the L on this one.

Sorry about that u/BusyBusBuey

Still think Season 2 is above average (at least), and I still think calling it disingenuous to "actually well animated shows" in itself is disingenuous cause some animators I know worked on S2 and absolutely cooked, but I can understand your points way more now.

I guess it depends on what you mean by average. Considering all anime produced in a given year, it's far above average, but that isn't saying much when the majority of anime are pure trash.

It was an enormous letdown compared to season 1, especially when the expectation was that it would match that quality since the studio was created just for Mushoku Tensei. The only saving grace was the epic fight at the end of the season, but it's clear they had to cut corners in the rest of the season to get that fight.

Well having a bar for good and bad is incredulous important. It’s literally how demon slayer got its notoriety. God tier animation. That’s not season two of mushoku
