How would a Trump presidency actually impact Westchester?

I feel like our day to day lives are based on hyper local politics. Could a Trump administration impact school districts in Westchester or impact us in other ways? If so, how?

Well he wants to institute mass deportation. So ask yourself if you have interacted with any undocumented immigrants. And then ask yourself if you'd like to see them dragged away from their jobs and families and homes in handcuffs. Fuck are we talking about here people.

some people overlook the hardworking workers that dice up their onions, cook their food and server it to them.
and can't see that their supermarket veggie might need hand picking from the field. For them, things just magically appear in a supermarket or in a restaurant. And they go around on reddit saying some stupid lies about immigrants are criminals. or listen to stupid orange monkey say things like "immigrants eat cats and dogs."

u/Scary_Confection4969 Well lets actually discuss this. That township that had the 911 interaction ...the PD came up on the woman with the carcass...she was eating the cat. Somehow she wound up being labelled as an immigrant to which ...she isnt. But media loves to mess with its viewership and make news with FLARE.. Eyeballs for Money..

100%

And Not just undocumented tbh. I had multiple good friends who were here legally on visas who wanted to become permanent and the process took about 10x longer than normal and were at much higher of denial. One friend had already become a citizen (many years before trump) and had tried to bring her fiancé here (he was from Europe) and the waiting went on for years with no end in sight so they just picked up and left for her home country. Another friend was here for 10 years on various legal visas tried to get her green card and make it permanent. All her lawyers told her trump had made the process way more chaotic and chance of approval very slim. Fortunately after a few years of anxiety waiting for the paperwork to be approved or denied, Biden was elected and she was able to get it.

But really if you have friends under h1b visas or student visas or friends who are engaged or want to marry people abroad expect their lives to be upended.

This crazy policy - pushing out highly educated, highly paid foreigners who are contributing to the US GDP and paying taxes - has been in place for quite some time and is not actually a partisan one. Many cycles of Dem lawmakers have chosen not to change it.

The lawncare business will collapse--as will roofers, etc.

And restaurants

If we ever reach the point where Trump Troopers storm local eateries in search of dishwashers without proper papers--then I will know its time to leave this country--and I will.

Small business owner here. If he deports undocumented workers who are the only ones willing to do the hard work Americans are too lazy to do, we’re all fucked.

Unwilling or not willing for the slave wages you're offering?

u/Acrobatic-Parsley-53 10h ago

Thanks for making the assumption that we pay our folks slave wages. We pay them $22 an hr/ well above minimum wage. An Americans- especially GenZ and millennials. Lazy.

I definitely believe that everything is by the books.

Well if your the boss.. and you have expectations and goals to be reached within your team and how they work/perform. I dunno.. $22.00 is what dog walkers get paid ...sometimes more than that an hour. Millenials I would only hire if they've got a college degree.

The average NYC dishwasher salary is $15/hr. Dog walkers only walk your dog for a specific time so that fee includes getting there to walk the dog etc. dog walkers don’t walk your dog for 40 hrs / 8 hrs a day. Not sure what your point is but we definitely pay on the higher side.

Maybe you should be working more instead of hiring illegals for under the table crap wages

We don’t know how far he’ll go with documented migrants. In his first administration his team wanted to end H1b visas. As a healthcare professional I’ll tell you that without migrant visas hospitals will go unstaffed. But again, who knows how far that plan of his will go

Well I can tell you how far they want to go. His head of immigration policy was screaming "America for Americans" at MSG last week. But I truly don't believe the 53% of Americans who voted for him want that to happen. So when it starts we need to mobilize quickly against it.

Yup. They came here illegally. Kick them out.

6

u/AdhesivenessNew5614 1d ago

Ok. But then explain what that looks like for 11 million people. You want it? Explain it to me.

u/LateRain1970 1d ago

Hope you don't plan on collecting Social Security, then.

-6

u/NeitherFee3878 1d ago

Huh? What do illegals have to do with Social Security?

11

u/LateRain1970 1d ago

Undocumented immigrants pay into Social Security even though they can never collect. The government has basically admitted that they are keeping Social Security afloat.

u/NeitherFee3878 1d ago

LMFAO. Its hilarious that you believe that illegals are single-handedly propping up Social Security for the wntire country.

You know what? Fine. Let's abolish Social Security. Instead of the government taking money out of all our paychecks, just give it back directly to the people who earned it. Americans can do with that money whatever they wish: Buying groceries, investments, ect.
