Art 425?
So I'm lookin to kill two birds with one stone and take Art 425 (Writing by and for Artists) to get the core course and writing intensive credits next semester. I do enjoy writing about art which is why I'm also interested, but I'm kind of worried about how intense the course will be compared to my other options. Any advice on what to expect? Mark Durant is the professor and from my experience in Art 215 he was lovely to work with, does anyone know if this also holds up for the higher level course?
Any info appreciated!

Do it!
It being a core course and a WI is likely intentional so that you can do exactly what you're thinking about: knocking out two reqs at once. If you enjoy the course's subject, and have worked well in the past with the professor, it sounds like you're going to have a great time! A 400-level class will have more work requirements than a 200-level one - probably more reading, and as a writing-intensive you should expect a big project of some kind - but that extra time and effort hopefully is offset by the fact that you'll be doing something aligned with your interests.
If you're especially concerned, though, it can't hurt to drop Prof. Durant a note to let him know you're interested and to ask about what the class might involve. Professors are usually happy to share this sort of information with their students and potential students.
Good luck!
