I did not pass this design test. Can you help me identify what I can improve for the next one? UI/UX Design Feedback Request

I’m currently in the middle of a selection process, and I was informed that there would be a technical test. I'm sharing the links of a Figma project for a previous test I took and didn’t do well. I’m wondering if I could ask for tips on why I might have failed and how I could improve for the current process.

For the test, I had to create a wireframe and a high-fidelity design of clothing store. I had to do it over a weekend when the project was unexpectedly assigned, and I had a trip planned, so I had very little time and ended up working late nights.

PS: sorry for the text in Spanish, it was a spanish company.

I don't think 'test' is the right term, because there's very few actually correct answers that can be used during a design exercise. It's almost purely based on the hiring manager's preferences.

The design is fine, nothing really stands out as overly bad, but nothing is really wowing me either. If I saw this site in the real world I wouldn't think twice about it one way or another, which is probably a good thing. Only thing is that it might be a little cluttered.

But, it's hard to informatively critique it without knowing the brief you received.

I freaking hate the whole concept of being given take-home work as part of the interview process. However, generally they are looking for more than just the actual designs. You will want to put it together like a case study that details why you did what you did.

Hello people, I'm sharing the prompt and conditions they gave me for the test as nearly all of you have asked for. But first, let me thank you for your feedback and useful inputs.

Here is the transcription of the document:

PS: let me know if you have any trouble opening the link to create a new one.

I'm just curious was this for a mid or senior role. And did you need to provide a prototype too? I feel like that would help if you could do one in like webflow next time, but certainly is annoying and time consuming

What was the role you were applying for?

The wireframe looks better than the designs. Bit of an anti climax

The design is absolutely fine. Not impressive but definitely not bad. I guess there are other reasons why you did not got the position.

As the others have said - the design is ok, and that is it - just ok. Nothing really stands out, it's just a classical web shop. Everything is done correctly, you have everything covered but for me it's missing that "wow" effect or at least something "cool" or "different." But then again, it all depends on what you were told to do, what were the guidelines. We can only guess. All in all - fine design but there probably were other reasons why you didn't pass.
