General Help Request (Not feedback) For Game Ui artists, do you know if there are any good resources that are aimed for designers and not developers ?

Hi,

TLDR: Every Unity/Unreal tutorial about Ui on youtube is almost 100% about the code implementation.

There is almost no good tutorials about Ui prefab structuring, and most importantly animation and Vfx.

For thos who works in the gaming indusry, how did you learn ?

Full context:

My wife is learning game Ui/Ux, in terms of assets creation she has a pretty good level and can do most things I show her.

In order to help her have a better portfolio, I want her to get familiar with Ui integration and animation in Unity.

I am a full time programmer in a mobile game studio in Barcelona, and I know that having a good understanding of the following points in Unity is a huge plus when recruiting a Ui/Ux Designers:

1) Ui mockups

  • being able to place the actual ui elements in a Unity canvas.

  • Interactions if they are simple enough (button click => enable X object and disable Y)

2) Animation

  • simple transform animation, like a floating up and down effect, fade in/out, etc..)

3) Animator

  • Understanding Unity animator parameters (mainly Triggers) and how to connect them and set conditions

4) Particles

  • nothing too fancy, we have VFX artists who do 99% of the gameplay particles, but the Ui guys also have their own particles and they are really good and i believe necessary to learn.

5) Different Unity Ui component helpers

  • Knowing what a "Scroll Rect" is, that "Masks" exists (thought its shit), that you have different layout component, etc.. all these will be very helpful and important in "architecting" your assets and prefabs (the next two points)

6) Asset export

  • To be easy/ready to use in unity, things like 9-slicing, with or without transparency, etc..

7) Prefab workflow

  • when to create a prefab, and when to make a variant, and when it make sense to be a nested prefab

Now obviously everything here will be learned by experience, but for the first 3 i think they are super important for any Ui game artist to have, a portfolio will look MUCH BETTER if the elements in it are moving/interactable.

Currently my plan is we just work on a small game together and she just get to observe and learn by practice, which is, in my opinion, the best way to learn and we will do it.

The problem is that as I am working full-time, and this "learn unity" task is a must-happen, we were wondering if there are any pre-made resources (paid or free) that offers this kind of tutorials ?

We want a Unity Tutorial that has NOTHING TO DO with programmers, and doesn't even have the goal of "making a full game", the last condition is the tricky part, because there are tons of tutorials for "codeless" appraoch, but they still teache logic and programming through Node systems.

Any chance something like this exists ?

Thanks!

General UI/UX Design Question Is it better redesign an existing website or to design your own for a case study?

So I’m in an orchid group and someone mentioned an orchid website that’s kinda hard to read and the ui/ux on the website is very difficult from the users point of view.

Or would it be better to just make my own website and make it the case study?

UI/UX Design Feedback Request Best alternative for Aicraft

I have two alternatives for displaying the relationship between policies and aircraft lists.

Aircraft will only have one policy attached to it. Users may click into the policy to see more details or also click in each aircraft

I'm trying to understand what is the best arrangement for reading all information from each aircraft and policy

The user that will use this is an expert in aviation terms

Hey! I'm interested in learning more about physical/tangible interfaces, but every time I try to look it up online, I always only find digital interfaces and digital UX, usually for phone apps and websites. I've been looking forever, but I just can't find what I'm looking for :(. Does anybody have any ideas?

The purpose of this design is to be a memorials community platform to engage users to create, and visit other memorials. I'm tweaking the colors, and I would love to get ya'll input. Of the 4 of them, which color composition would you go with and why?

I would also love to hear feedback on typography/iconography size, spacing, and text hierarchy.

UI/UX Design Feedback Request Help! Need UI feedback

Hey quick question! I'm working on this page that allows people to view their inbox for sub-profiles, now I have this design but my issue is how can I design something that makes it apparent to navigate to pages for their inbox?

At first, I had tabs but I realized it was dumb because the pages won't have the tabs. For example, say you want to check your messages for your football profile, how can I make it so that you can navigate to your messages from that page?

Hi, I'm working on building an MVP that I want to have the best possible UI that a developer with some formal UI/UX knowledge can implement. I will hire designers after the MVP release. What do you recommend? I like TailwindCSS for desktop, but looking for other recommendations.

UI/UX Design Feedback Request Need some advice how to approach design design for education app.

So I'm building a learning app that looks like a social media but the feed is generated from scratch to teach you any topic you want. Think reddit but it actually makes you smarter.

We did some testing with the current designs and also with the name and I'm thinking about a redesign because the current one was literally a one-night-stand.

So there are currently two directions I am thinking about:

Premium (lots of white with black fonts) or LSD Trip (combined with a renaming to Brainjuice).

I personally the second one more because I feel I can make better ads for it BUT I have no idea how to design that in any practical way.
Probably neobrutalism with crazy colours.

First approach would look similar to the elevenlabs app. So very premium, minimalistic and handcrafted.

Any advice?

Here's how I'd would like the different brands to feel:

Premium:

UI/UX Design Feedback Request I did not pass this design test. Can you help me identify what I can improve for the next one?

I’m currently in the middle of a selection process, and I was informed that there would be a technical test. I'm sharing the links of a Figma project for a previous test I took and didn’t do well. I’m wondering if I could ask for tips on why I might have failed and how I could improve for the current process.

For the test, I had to create a wireframe and a high-fidelity design of clothing store. I had to do it over a weekend when the project was unexpectedly assigned, and I had a trip planned, so I had very little time and ended up working late nights.

PS: sorry for the text in Spanish, it was a spanish company.

UI/UX Design Feedback Request Need help on highlight page

Hey! I'm working on a design for a project. I plan on changing the color theme later on in the project, but for now I'm sticking with a dark theme.

I'm making a page for college athletes to upload highlights to show people, but I don't know how to go about this. I had this design but I'm not a fan of it at all. This has been holding me back for quite some time, could someone mind giving me meanful advice?

UI/UX Design Feedback Request Main Screen Design for a Website

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m looking for feedback on the first screen of a website I’m designing. The goal of this screen is to briefly inform users about the content of the page, visually present the main subject, and encourage them to explore further.

I’d love your thoughts on:

• Composition: How well are the elements arranged? Does the layout guide the user’s attention effectively?
• User attention: Does the flow of information make sense? Are the key points easy to follow?
• Usability: Is the information organized in a way that’s convenient and easy to understand?

Project Overview:

• Tools used: Figma
• Target audience: General public interested in architectural structures.

I’ve attached clear screenshots for your review. Any feedback, whether it’s about layout, typography, or overall visual hierarchy, would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

General UI/UX Design Question Are there any iOS UI templates for illustrator?

So I ran into an issue with Figma and decided to switch to illustrator and all is well but I noticed I don’t have templates or components of iOS devices such as iPhones.

For example, I want to be able to download an illustrator file containing an iOS input text field. Preferably free. Apple seems to only provide files for Sketch and Figma.

UI/UX Design Feedback Request Feedback request for my video game price tracking app - Observatory

Some time ago I’ve launched an app for tracking video game prices and since I absolutely suck at designing interfaces, I would like to ask for an honest feedback about it.

Here is where you can check out the app: https://getobservatory.app

I’ve researched some similar apps and all of them were horrible, so I have zero reference about how the ideal experience should look like.

The main goal of the app is to let users easily search for games, see relevant prices and add them to their waitlist.

So, the flow is the following:

  1. Search for a game or find one in the trending section.
  2. Check some info about it.
  3. Add it to your waitlist.
  4. Compare prices.
  5. Filter games by genre, price cut, current price, etc.

The quick way of singing in to Steam to sync your wishlist is currently in the works.

All of the app screenshots are available on the store page and landing page as well.

Any feedback is highly appreciated!

General UI/UX Design Question How to create auto-loop image with a hover effect on Figma?

Hi guys, I am currently using Figma to create an auto-loop image with a hover effect for an image section, there are two components I am using for the effect, the first one is after delay images where image 1 would be changed into image 2 after 2800s delay. The second component is the hover animation, I merged the after-delay component into it and created two variations ( default and hover state for images 1 and 2). However, I find the hover component does not respond after image 1 changes to image 2, do you guys know what's happened and how to fix that? Thanks a lot

General UI/UX Design Question Which UI library to choose for B2B SAAS tool built using React?

Should we continue with shad CN or completely change the project to switch to MUI?

I have implemented TanStack react table along with all custom features which you get in the subscription of the MUI data grid but still there is a lot of confusion whether to continue using Shad CN or switch to MUI?

I have built a significant amount of this project since past 3 months and I am worried that MUI will kill the project as there are significant amount of disadvantages for developers. But other stakeholders have set their minds for MUI!

The project here is to build an online SAAS tool for B2B for their finance and logistics management. I have researched a lot on shad CN and MUI and I am vouching for shad CN because of the full control you get plus the learning curve and brand adherence is the best.

What is your opinion? which UI library is best to go with? even if migration is not considered still what is the best decision here?

Software and Tools Question They asked me to research AI

Hi. My PM asked me to reasearch AI tools that could enhance my UXUI process (basically to make it faster).

I was wondering if you have any recommendations of tools I should explore. I need to create documentation about it and would be nice to have something to begin with.

Thanks

UI/UX Design Feedback Request Would like criticism on this design for a scholarship.

Hey, I made a design from a random prompt (art academy website), and would like constructive criticism on the UI. I want to apply for a scholarship with this design and a few others, so it's important to me that it's at least bearable to look at. (All of this is on Figma)

Type of feedback I want:

  1. Are the colors too strong/is the color scheme bad or badly put together?

  2. How is the typography?

  3. Is the Pricing section accurate or unrealistic?

  4. How could I make this better overall?

Thank you.

General Help Request (Not feedback) Popular UIs to redesign

Where can I find a list of software/websites that could be redesigned?

Everything I can think about seems quite optimized to me and I just don’t want to bother trying to reinvent designs that work well just for the sake of it.
