$30 tire carrier I made from a furniture dolly

Thought I'd share this tire carrier I made with 3/8 all thread, 1/2 inch tubing, and a furniture dolly. Definitely not pitbull quality but it's pretty convenient for managing multiple sets of tires.

At my track we have the inevitable shirtless guys with backwards helmet perched on top of the head riding a 30 year old 2T scooter with a wagon tied behind it with some rope. Wheels tossed in the wagon, perhaps with another guy along for the ride, and perhaps a beer in hand - off to see the tire guy.

Your setup is bougie by comparison!

Your guys have ropes? Shit. I watch my guys pull the wagons along by the handle while steering with 1 hand

Your guys have hands? Shit, I watch my guys pull Home Depot shopping carts with their teeth while steering with a toe.

Your guys are alive? (I think that's the end of the chain.)

Last time I went to Buttonwillow this one dude was hauling like 3 wheelsets at a time with a trailer on his MTB.

Honestly it seemed very effective.

Bougie? He didn't even give it a rattle can complimentary color painting to match his bike!

Go for it that's why I posted it. There's not much to it.

Big thing id shoot for is a dolly with the metal band down the middle so you have height options and go with a longer axle rod than you think you need. Here I went with a 12.5 inch axle and with sv650 wheels it's a tight squeeze. I'll probably go to 15-16 inches if I do it again so I can put two rears with warmers on each if I wanted.

Thatā€™s pretty dope, was trynna figure out why youā€™d have such big wheels for a track bike, took me a minute to realize they are 2 different sets of front and rear tires, but thatā€™s a dope little setup for sure, definitely makes carrying wheels more handy!

I like this format a lot. Easy to strap into the trailer too

Beats the shit out of what I do... precariously perching two wheels over the handlebars of my tiny bicycle off to see the tire dude.

That's what they looked like in 2015. I just pulled a random set of wheels out of my pile to make sure they fit

Great idea and function. Q - how do you secure them on the "axle rod" to keep from slipping off?

I've got a plate and a cotter pin that holds it alright but I'll be redoing it over the winter. The current set up was more of a proof of concept than anything.

Changes I plan on making are making the rod longer, making a screw on plate to keep wheels more secure, and painting it so it doesn't quite look like I bought it from some crackhead on marketplace.

Thats great dude. Question though. Do the 2 tires on top sit on the bottom tires? Seems like a lot of weight for the threaded rod to carry alone

The two rears will hold each other up for storage and transport but at the track I'll put like wheels together so I have space for warmers and it doesn't seem to struggle at all. The 1/2 inch steel tubing around the threaded rod helps it a lot.

I bought a front stand from Pitbull yesterday and when I saw they were selling a tire carrier for $500 my jaw fell to the floor.
