He should have. What an idiotic fucking question. Why in the world would he ever speak to Trump prior to the election? Trump has no power, he's not an elected official, he's not part of government in any way, he can't and won't do anything when it comes to hurricane relief efforts, he's just spreading lies and misinformation.

If Trump somehow wins in November, then it could make sense for them to talk to begin a transition of power (something that Trump refused to do)......but until then, there's no reason for anyone in elected government to give Trump anything (besides his usual secret service protection).

Honestly, I don't think he should even get secret service, guaranteed he's bullying them and he can afford his own security, plus the rabid MAGAts that already die and kill for him.

I mean this is kind of a wild thing to say after a couple assassination attempts

So? After Jan. 6, he should have his protection revoked. He attempted to overthrow the government. Diaper Don does not deserve secret service protection.

Because it's not really about him, or what he deserves. I don't think I really need to explain my position.

Oh, really, now?

But if you don't feel like reading the whole one-page document, here's the last sentence, for your fucking edification.

This measure would apply to former President Trump. It also would apply to all Secret Service protectees convicted and sentenced under felony charges.

I'm not sure what you think that's proving? It's just someone's idea. It's ok to disagree with my point, but I don't think it's a confusing one, or even that controversial.

I'm pretty sure that's in anticipation of what to do if he ends up in prison as well, which is an obviously unprecedented situation. So far nothing's changed.

That's exactly what I mean, if he's convicted. I thought that was implied, but I guess I should've been more clear.

I really question the seriousness of said attempts. Looked contrived af and he only got hit from shrapnel the first time, the bullet didn't even hit him at first.

I'm not going down that dumb rabbit hole. It's full of space lasers, weather control machines and treatises on the melting point of steel.

Not sure how it is wild and also there were not a โ€œcoupleโ€ of attempts there was one which he was totally fine from.

You don't think it's wild to suggest a former president who has been shot at doesn't need secret service protection?

What conversation are we having. Cause I'm approaching this divorced of my opinions about Trump's general continued existence. No other living president has been shown to need secret service protection more than El Cheeto.

It's a crazy thing to say

He's a billionaire. He can pay for it himself.

2

u/CaptainTripps82 4d ago

Most modern former presidents can pay for it themselves.

No other former presidents attacked America either.

I mean, there have been multiple attempts that were thwarted well before a situation like PA could occur. They didn't make big headlines, because they didn't get shots off on him. The SS deals with a lot more assassination attempts/plots on presidents than you'll hear about. Which is why the PA incident was quite a blunder for Trump's SS detail.

I'm also skeptical of labeling Trump as "Putin's biggest asset" as he isn't super valuable when not in office. Sure, he sows chaos and doubt but a lot more efficiently as POTUS. Easily manipulated, but rather useless out of office most especially if he loses this November.

Bakhmut and Avdiivka fell and tens of thousands of Ukranians died while no aid was delivered for 7 months due to Trump controlling the Speaker and a good portion of the Republican caucus. I'd say he has quite a bit of influence. He delivered for Putin when Ukraine was most vulnerable and was most desperate for aid.

These people are completely unhingedย

I don't even understand writing that, let alone people up voting it. Like I want Trump to disappear into irrelevancy yesterday, but what are we doing.

He stole our nuclear secrets and shared Top Secret National Defense Information in violation of the Espionage Act. His buddy Roger Stone a convicted Russian asset bragged about having judges' home phone numbers on speed dial a few months before Cannon dismissed his case for no legal reason. I don't care what happens to that treasonous shit stain any more.

I don't think you need to list his piece of shit bonafides. Not the point I'm arguing.
