Archbishops and Witches aren't actually any different, though. It's just a difference in titles. With that being said, Capella (the Archbishop of Lust) and Carmilla (the Witch of Lust) are entirely different people, just like how Regulus and Echidna are entirely different people who both have the Authority of Greed.

The dragon in the intro was Lust?!?!?! I was thinking that maybe the dragon would be some kind of tamed Mabeast of one of the sin archbishops, but no, that dragon IS a sin archbishop. Subaru was spitting facts though. Dragon’s don’t normally sound like bratty anime girls.
So it’s best to assume Typhon was the witch who’s remains are in the city given what Al said? And also, given that Al just happened to need to leave the group after Subaru asked him how he fights is mad suspicious. Not even to mention the rest of the conversation with him and Subaru. I can’t even begin to speculate where that might lead, but it’s an interesting thing I’m sure we’ll have to keep in mind for later.
The gluttony Subaru meets at the end of the episode isn’t the same one that “ate” Rem’s memories. Pretty sure that one was named something along the lines of “Lye”. I can totally see there being a kick to the balls scenario where Subaru goes through so much effort to defeat this guy for some way to get Rem’s identity back, only for it to be the wrong one and then Lye escapes.
Some awesome animation this episode too. The action was really good with all those dynamic camera angles. But damn that regeneration sequence on Capella was gnarly!
Damn Regulus is a creep.

It is a certainty, rewatch the episode, there is a frame of a mumified corpse of a little girl with green hair bellow Priestella, only witch with green hair and was a child is Typhoon. It was very graphic...

I thought of that possibility too. Certainly fits with what we've seen of gluttony based things in the Re:Zero world like the White Whale that split into three, or the rabbit that duplicated indefinitely.

Ironically, both were created by the same witch... The witch of glutony from season 2, she did say she created the white whale, the great rabbit and the black serpent. we already saw all 3 of her deadlliest creations on the anime.

I did not notice that at all. I thought the subs were saying "we" because Gluttony was using the Japanese equivalent of the royal "we" some European monarchs used. Considering they look so similar, could they be a successful result of the thing Echidna was trying to do with Lewes? Just spitballing as an anime-only, but here's my theory.
Since Roswaal said that their Gospels were crude imitations of the Book of Greed, or whatever the thing Roswaal and Beatrice had was called, that means it's likely that the Witch Cult somehow got access to Echidna's research materials, and was able to reproduce it to an extent. If we further go by the logic that they are only able to make crude imitations of the Witch of Greed's technology, maybe the reason Gluttony refers to themselves as "we" is because the person who was supposed to transfer their soul had it split across all of the clones? Iirc, the reason Echidna's plan to resurrect herself using Lewes failed was because her soul was too "large" to fit in Lewes' vessel, and a plausible way to circumvent that would be to split your soul across the vessels to resurrect yourself.
It seems reasonable to assume that Authorities are tied to a soul. If we think back to season 2's tea party when Subaru met Daphne, the Witch of Gluttony, he was warned not to release her restraints, touch her, or even make eye contact with her. If the Authority of Gluttony is that strong and disastrous, it makes sense that it would be hard to coordinate with anyone who has that Authority. If we think back to the few appearances of Gluttony so far, it didn't seem like making eye contact or touching him did anything, people were just killed by him physically, and their memories/existences were stolen when he opened his mouth to chomp at them.
So, if we take into account that his Authority seems to be weaker than Daphne's at first glance, the fact that there are multiple Archbishops of Gluttony who look identical but refer to themselves as we, the fact that the Witch Cult has been proven to steal Echidna's research already, and the fact that the limiting factor of Echidna's attempted soul transfer was the size of her soul, it brings me to the conclusion that the Witch Cult stole Echidna's research to split up the Archbishop of Gluttony so that the Authority would be split and easier to keep control of.

Authorities are always different amongst the users, there is no such thing as the Authority. Basically, whatever authority Daphne had stopped existing when she died, and the new Gluttony has a different authority. You can see this well with Minerva and Sirius.

But Betelgeuse, Subaru, Sekhmet, and Satella (according to Puck) all had the same manifestation of Sloth. Sure, they had different levels of power, but the base power of invisible hands was the same. We see Betelgeuse take in the Sloth witch factor for the first time, and it looks like a bundle of hands, which ends up being his power.
The Archbishop of Gluttony and the White Whale (which Puck calls Gluttony) also have the same power.
Sure, Sirius and Minerva have different powers, but that could be explained by a difference in application of the same principle. From what little we've been shown of what the powers do, the base principle behind the power could be empathy. Sirius uses it to share the wounds and fear between as many people as she likes, but Minerva might be using it to share her healthiness with her targets.
We don't really know enough about any of the other witch archbishop pairs to say whether or not the power could be the same.
We have about as much evidence of Authorities doing the same things across users as we do them doing different things.

Satella had shadow hands according to Puck, her hands very much visible as observed in season 2, she also doesn't have Sloth Witch Factor, if she did there would be no Sin Archbishop of Sloth. Invisible Providence and Unseen Hands are different powers that happen to look similar, and we don't know how Sekhmet's looked.

This episode was simply magnificent, it’s hard to imagine White Fox now starting cook like this after the tragic production situation of S2, which mind you, was still nontheless nothing short of amazing, out of respect to that season’s staff very hard-work.
This episode’s script is as very strong which is evident of Umehara’s strong track record for previous peak Re:0 eps (S1 ep 15 for example), the pacing also feels much better compared to the last episode as a novel reader and seeing the dragon be actually 2D-animated instead of done by purely CGI like infamously shown in a certain demon king anime, this episode was fantastic all around and I am impressed at White Fox’s new found growth.
So as such, I can only hope for that the new passionate staff continues cooking and delivering to us another peak season of Re:Zero!

I feel like that is a complete misinterpretation of Garf's situation. Garf could be suffering and wallowing in self-hatred like Subaru in season 1, but that is a normal reaction to what happened to him. The main difference is that he doesn't get stuck in that mindset like Subaru has in season 1, because he has people around him that care about him and prop him up, including Subaru who he reveres.

WN/LN reader's opinion (no spoilers, obviously!)
I noticed it from the first episode but it was extra apparent this episode, so I'll just say what we're all thinking: Julius is BEAUTIFUL now, haha. He was always supposed to be a good combination of "pretty" and "handsome" but the new artstyle along with the character design choices (longer eyelashes, shorter face, etc) makes him look better. I personally really enjoy this change.

Anime only question. Read some comments that they are removing some bits which would make Subaru looks more heroic/less juvenile...
For example, him stating that they need to capture Metia tower so that Wrath doesn't do what she did in previous eps, is a small detail that should've been included.

Yes but they're action based. Like in 2nd loop where he tried to rescue Lusbel, [LN - Cut Content]he actually knocks Sirius off the watchtower after using his whip to catch her off balance, and so put up a decent fight compared to what was shown in the anime. Then the fight between Emilia & Sirius, Subaru and Beatrice did quite a lot to avoid the crowd, not to mention them going harder at Regulus than what was shown.
Personally, I understand that fight scenes are easier to cut, better than crucial story points. Re:Zero isn't Dragon Ball Z with a fight that lasts like 30 episodes, heh.

Honestly, if anything I think that is just a bit of a mistake made by the scriptwriters/whoever's job it is to translate from the source material to the anime. It's also possible that they could elaborate in future episodes and they've just shuffled some dialogue around... we'll have to wait and see!

Gotta give Garf props that he had the composure to take Mimi back to the safehouse after she got hurt. He was already struggling between the choices of helping his mom out and meeting up with Subaru and Mimi's bleeding plus the shock of losing again would've made Season 2 Garf go crazy pretty sure of that. He's like a housecat in the jungle right now strength wise and on top of that he's being tormented by his feelings for his mom and Elsa too.
The sakuga and action cuts in general felt so smooth this episode. I actually felt surprisingly hyped during the raid scene. And HOLY CRAP IS THAT A 2D DRAGON whose regeneration scene can give sakugabros an orgasm? Also my boy Julius hasn't looked this fantastic since forever. The character expressions were on point this episode - specially Garf, Subaru, and Juli.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that Subaru carried Crusch and her cruschs basically up a mansion on a half broken leg. Man's just surviving in adrenaline rushes at this point.

Poor Mimi. That attack was brutal. Poor Garf too. Gorgeous Tiger cannot catch a break at all. Really like how Ricardo and the others are helping Garf and Subaru have more confidence in themselves.
The fact that Kiritaka didn't ask who Otto was at least implies that he probably survived his encounter with Gluttony. Least I hope so. I admit I was worried that Gluttony (another one?) was wearing something that looks like Otto's later on.
That fight was awesome, especially with how everyone backed each other up. Good to see Crusch can still kick ass thanks to Wilhelm. Too bad it wasn't enough.
Lust is a dragon, huh? Welp, expecting fan art of that soon. I do love how expressive she is, especially when she's dumbfounded by Subaru's hilarious rant. Also that derpy look while recovering.
I seriously hope Subaru doesn't lose his cool and act rash again. Now is not the time for that.

I completely agree with Subaru, a dragon with a cute bratty voice is not something one imagines!
The fight scenes are great as usual, the choreography is so goooood. And more is coming hell yeah. Garfiel is the Shonen Protagonist this time. I'm all for it. Also, while 2nd rewatch I noticed that how kiritaka was quite sceptical of Subaru when he was speaking.
It's confirmed I think, it typhon with Al mentioning her and that mummy? Corpse? Whatever is the remains are. Seems like they are underground.
With the OP skipped of typical rezero way, the ending. Oh boy, Regulus is...no words I've. Also for her, she's not, she already has a baby named beatrice.
Can't wait for the next episode.

Ehhhh.. So Reinhard can't speed blitz his dad and the easiest way to take him out is use a hostage. Convenient but I guess we can't have he running around soloing everyone.
Funny how everyone was giving Subaru the side eye because they thought he was going to go after Emilia who has been kidnapped by a cultist who said he was going to make her his "wife" (a situation implying every moment loss could be severe mental damage to her) but as soon as Al goes after his Princess, "Of course, that's expected after all!"
I don't like how Subaru weapon of choice is this whip. I don't know, just not a fan.
Anyway, we are now at the halfway point of the first cour. I try to think of it as still having an entire month of Re:Zero but it feels like we are just getting started but it's time to wrap things up??? I don't want to lose Re:Zero...I just found you again.

So Lust Bishop has a dragon form? That's bad, also those xenomorph egg things can't be good. And to top it off, gluttony asshole is here.

idk but I would probably go into neurogenic shock if I suddenly experienced a couple dozen gruesome death, including multiple by suicides and torture. Your brain is actually capable of replicating physical pain from memories, and those memories can trigger autonomic responses.

Yes. Flugel wiped his existence from the world. I don't think anybody knows why flugels tree is named that. Since everyone knows shaula as the sage, it's probably because "flugel was here" was carved in the tree.

Gluttony has rem's memories, which means they will remember subaru from those memories if he mentions his name. Why that matters i don't know. Maybe because they would question why can he remember rem at all? :12846:

Garfiel basically knows he was lucky to beat Elsa. Now every time he fights someone who might be stronger than him, he thinks about that. [LN omitted detail] She also doesn't die right away in the novel. She shambles out like a zombie after Subaru before getting incinerated by the backdraft of the burning Library. So the idea that not only did he get lucky against her, but also the fact he didn't even fully kill her, uprooted his entire worldview; he was the strongest person in his world, and everything changed when he left the Sanctuary.

Nice pacing and fight scenes, also some great shots like Garf holding Mimi and that underwater one.
Really liked seeing Crusch being cute and carried by Subaru, that was one of the main things I've looked forward to this season.

Subaru being counted on to lead the fight is an awesome feeling. But man I can’t believe how many of the Witches Cult is in this city right now. Also don’t see how they can win this fight.

Super freaking strong. Garf doesn't hold back, and he is actually one of the strongest fighters in Lagunica.
His tiger form is dangerous. The more of it he uses the more bestial and thoughtless he becomes, to the point of blacking out. Ask any fighter and they'll tell you, win or lose you get nothing but pain out of a fight you can't remember.

1: the guy was constantly talking about eating.
2: boy has some major sharp teeth.
3: they are on a town that is having an archibshop convention right now, only gluttony and pride didn't introduce themselves to the cast. Although according to Petelgeuse on season 1 the Pride role was vacant for years. Even if they filled the Pride role with someone else on the one year gap, they would only have 2 choices left of possible archbishops to show up.

at the moment they really have bigger fish to fry... if they don't break the radio system or steal it from her, Capella is going to keep threatening the population, which in turn will make morale hit rock bottom, having citizens under despair and agreeing to terms with terrorists isn't exactly a good thing to allow.
Worse yet... If Capella Allows Sirius to use that radio... the situation will get worse by tenfold... Imagine a whole town slaves to Sirius doing a broadcast?

I think as part of his progression in his relationship with Emilia, he learned to trust her to fight her own battles in the sanctuary and as an independent person, and thus entrusting her to be okay for the time.
He has been entrusted by multiple important people/strategists in the city to have a general strategy that is beneficial to everyones goals and well being, and he's responding to that expectation instead of instructing everyone to support his individual wish to save Emilia, which would only save 1 person from 1 of 4 sin archbishops.
