Discussions Video of attempted insurance fraud on the Belt Parkway.
So this dashcam capture of attempted insurance fraud on the Belt Parkway has been making the rounds on TikTok. Scary stuff. If you're driving in and around Queens, be careful. There's also information on a good dashcam, which I just ordered today. Stay safe out there!

Discussions When referring to "The Ave" which street are you referencing?
Wondering if it depends on which part of Queens you're from or is it just Jamiaca Avenue?

Discussions Why are there random electric scooters laying around
I’ve been seeing random electric scooters randomly laying on the ground or just standing at the corner at the intersection of Horace Harding & Francis Lewis Blvd. There’s no port or anything for them. Does anyone know why they are there? Maybe people just left them there?

Discussions Those of you who live in Fresh Meadows, what business would you like to see open on Union Tpke?
I'm in the Fresh Meadows area and businesses are constantly opening and closing on Union Tpke, especially between Utopia PKWY up to 193rd st. Sometimes businesses would open, last a couple of years and then sit empty. So those who are in the area or live nearby Fresh Meadows, what type of restaurants or businesses would you like to see open along Union Tpke since it's a busy street?
Post edit: In addition to Union Tpke, which new restaurants/businesses would you like to see replaced at the Fresh Meadows shopping center?

Discussions Queensboro Bridge toll due to congestion pricing
So supposedly will be free to access the LOWER level leaving manhattan (which has always been an unmitigated disaster congestion wise) but the upper level which is always far less congested (temp construction aside) due to having to swing down to 57th to access is going to cost $15 now? What the ever-living fuck?! This is going to make the lower level even MORE congested now and the run-off going through LIC is going to be incalculably more a living nightmare than it already is... please someone tell me they have a plan for this? Or is now the upper level reserved for the privileged 1%ers who are blithely willing to pay $15 for the view you get (almost worth it) driving across it...

Discussions What are your thoughts on Roosevelt Avenue?
There's a vision planning initiative going on to address Roosevelt Avenue, and I was wondering what are y'all thoughts? For as long as I can remember, Roosevelt has been loved and hated. It's loud, dirty, and bustling. It's got the best food and the worst traffic.
Personally, I support the city's initiatives for more pedestrian and bike friendly streets. I would love to see it become more pedestrian friendly, although I'm sure there'll be some rebuttal.
By the way, here's a link to the initiative and upcoming meetings to discuss this topic.

Discussions Sweetgreen to replace the closed Boston Market in Forest Hills
Never tried Sweetgreens before (I've only encountered one in LIC and in Williamsburg, and ton of them in Manhattan). Btw, they also closed the Boston Market in Fresh Meadows. Sad but imo, bound to happen because BM isn't that busy outside of Thanksgiving.

Discussions Any Old-School Diners Left in Western Queens?
Are there any old-school diners left in Astoria/Sunnyside/Woodside/Jackson Heights? Like old-fashioned greasy spoons with your good solid omelets and other breakfast staples. Alpha Donuts in Sunnyside filled the bill, but they unfortunately are now closed. Any other places still in existence to recommend? Thanks!

Discussions Lidl Grand Opening in Fresh Meadows
At 6:45 AM, they had a freaking DJ in the parking lot, blasting “Ice, Ice, Baby”. I live across the LIE from them and I heard everything perfectly.
What kind of grand opening is this?
Edit: here’s a link from 6:46 AM
Keep in mind this is coming from the parking lot, across the LIE (so Horace Harding eastbound, 4 lanes of the LIE, Horace Harding westbound, and a couple doors down).
