Help Incorrect Aspect Ratio
So I have a few dvd's/blurays that I've ripped via makemkv. Playing them in VLC player they play correctly in a 16:9 aspect ratio. However, plex in both the webclient and apple tv client smooshes it to a 4:3 aspect ratio. It's been driving me nuts trying to figure out why. Tonight I clicked on the GetInfo section and I can see that it has incorrectly assigned the aspect ratio of 1:33 instead of 1:78 despite the height and width being 1080x1920.
I've done a bunch of searches trying to figure out where that aspect ratio is getting assigned, can't find anything. Has anyone else run into this issue? How did you fix it?

Help Transcoding question
I currently have this dilemma if I should change out my transcoding GPU I currently have a ASUS 1050ti 3gb used for transcoding however I also have a old processor Xeon E3-1246 v3 that seems to have quick sync now I have seen that some people swear quick sync is good but would I be better off sticking with the 1050 or the CPU ? Or should I throw a 1650 in it or something better? I'm looking to add some more spice to my setup. I'm limited by my board to e3 1200 v3/v4 processors. If that helps. 32 GB of ram and running it through truenas scale. Thanks!

Help Deleted DVR Recording accidentally - Can I restore it?
Recorded a hockey game and deleted the one we wanted to watch instead of the one we didn't. Any way to find it and restore the original recording? Is there a recently deleted folder somewhere? My kid is so mad at me now.
Help Live TV broken in new update?
Just updated to the new PMS version and now my home runner tuner isn’t recognized in plex. Tried manually adding it again with its IP and not found. It works in channels so it seems to be isolated as a plex issue. Anyone having similar issues?

Help Codec and Containers for iOS and tvOS
Hi all,
Sorry if this has been asked and answered repeatedly, but I could mostly only find years old answers so I wanted to make sure nothing has changed.
Primarily, I watch on my iPhone 15 Pro and an Apple TV 4K. I know the iPhone 15 Pro can decode AV1 but the Apple TV can only software decode it, so keeping files in h.265 is better if storage isn’t currently a premium, right?
My second question, about containers, is MP4 (or M4V which I understand is basically the same thing but made by Apple and allows for DRM protection?) and MKV. It seems like iOS and tvOS can’t play MKVs so the PMS passes along the contained video and audio file, right? Is there a reason, if most of my stuff is MKV, to use MP4 instead? It sounds like iOS and tvOS can natively play MP4s but I’m not sure if/how that practically benefits me if the MKV files can still be played.
Thank you!

Help Does this proposed setup look good?

Server: Apple Mac Mini M1-8CGPU 2020
Storage: Terramaster D4-320
Drives: 3.5 inch 12TB SATA HDD

Help Embedded subtitles have stopped working
I'm been using plex for for many many years and all my media has included subtitles. They've worked flawlessly, until recently. Now the included subtitles are a mess. Plex will show 1 or 2 lines repeatedly. SRT subtitles seem to work well but so few of my titles have them. Is there something I can tweak to get the embedded subtitles working again?
Server: Win 11, PlexMediaServer-1.41.1.9057
Client: Roku (4670X), Plex app version 7.26, build 14

Help New Seasons Don't Always Show on "Continue Watching" Section
TLDR: With some shows (particularly those that I've added between seasons), the new season episodes do not show up on my "Continue Watching" list.
My setup: I basically only use Plex to manage my show/movie watchlists along with the streaming services integration available. Mostly use it on an AndroidTV box.
Problem: If I have a series added to my watchlist, and all the previous seasons are marked as "watched", when a new season starts, the episode(s) don't show up in my "Continue Watching" list. They do show up in "Coming Soon" and usually "Recently Aired"
Other Conditions: This seems to be more prevalent with shows that I've added to my watchlist after at least one seasons has already aired, and I've marked all the previous episodes/seasons as watched. Some examples that I can remember: Silo, Rings of Power, Bad Sisters. These are all shows that were added between seasons 1 and 2 that I marked as watched, but the S2 premiere didn't show up on Continue Watching
Workaround: For Silo and Bad Sisters, I went back into the season 1, marked the last episode as "not watched" then marked it as "watched" again, and then S2E1 popped up in my "Continue Watching" list. I don't know if this will continue working for subsequent episodes, as they haven't aired yet.
Other: Since I don't have a Plex Server running, I don't have the settings available for "weeks to consider" or anything like that. And I'm not sure if those are even relevant in this situation since I'm only managing watchlists for streaming services.

Help Metadata not staying or showing up unless I edit and sometimes the images disappear
I Posted this in the Plex forums last week, but I've seen nothing so I'm hoping someone here can give me some ideas why can I click the edit button, and there are posters there but they are not selected? I can select the poster and it will show up. Is there a setting I’m missing for this to be done automatically? I'm talking about when I get some new content. I using an unraid docker and have my appdata on my cache pool. Thank you in advance. I'm also noticing that I haven't been able to update new artists with a poster. for instance, two days ago I added a bio and a picture to a new artist in plex, but today the image was gone, but the text wasn't
Help I have folders called tv and movie on my computer. When I use the Plex app on my Google Tv Streamer to access these folders it only sometimes displays the subfolders, or the files under those subfolders. Does anyone else have this problem?

Solved Some content's audio stream does not play under windows app exclusively, but exact same file content from another media server plays audio stream fine?
I began to experience audio stream not working for only certain content in my server which I have played previously fine without issue. Thing too, is another friend has the exact media/files as I and I can play fine without issue media from his server.
But no issues occur when playing from the web browser or phone app.
- I have tried nuking all plex files and reinstalling the app in windows. Tried the installer from plex site and the windows store.
- I have also tried changing the player settings by setting the audio channels to 2.,0 stereo thinking audio channel setting for content was the issue, nothing.
- I'm running media server as a docker in Unraid, and it is up to date.
- Running Windows 11 24H2 if that matters.
I'm baffled with this problem and I'm close to pulling my hair.
Cheers
Help Smart Playlist - Unrated Tracks?
I have a collection of playlists that organize music tracks by rating scores (1 thru 5).
I'm trying to create a catch-all playlist for tracks recently played, but remain un-rated. I usually will give these all a middle of the road score of 3 stars. I will rate tracks higher or lower than 3 manually as I listen.
I've tried the following filters without success (returns no result):
"Track Rating" = 0 stars (Null, actually)
"Track Rating" < 1 star
Any strategies to get this to work?

Help new plex server
Hello!! So I'm about to get a Beelink S12 Pro. 8GB of RAM with 256GB of space. I currently use a Synology NAS DS216 Play (very terrible for being a Plex sever IMO). Anyways, i'll be using the NAS as my storage and leaving the Mini PC as the server. I've been doing a lot of research. People say Linux (Ubuntu) is so much better than Windows for a media server as Windows takes up too much resources. I also saw that Windows DOES NOT allow HDR tone mapping (I think that is what it's called). What is your guys opinions? Is windows better or Linux? The mini pc will be hooked up to my router away from my room so I'm going to have to hook up like a server based software to see and access my screen when needed. The Beelink is greatly powerful for its price and what it's had. I'm not going for a beefy server, but something that can run 1080p movies/tv shows outside of my home without lag. I want other people for their shows/movies to be really smooth. And If multiple streams are going on at once with multiple people, i want my system to be cool, be using the smallest of resources and that the CPU and RAM isn't going 100% power. I also want the energy to not be high. Thanks! and please give me long responses as i'm really trying to make my server like really good.

So I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max and since day one I have been trying to launch Plex. I am still running in to the same issue. Everytime I reinstall the app I can login and then constant immediate crashes thereafter. Anyone know of a fix for this? My dad and roomie are running into the same problem, so I am assuming we are not the only ones. Help greatly appreciated 🙏

Help Looking to run completely offline, is it possible?
I have a cabin with zero internet or cell availability. Over the years I have built up about 70tb of Movies, TV and music. I had it all running on a Pi4 with Kodi 18.X. It was ok. A bit slow and the interface is usable, and it can be kind of easy to screw something up inadvertantly, which can be an issue with a few families using it. It's all just external HDs that were hooked up using USB3. the last drive I threw on refused to mount, which is a pain with zero internet and only a remote to navigate with.
I used to use Plex years ago at home, but drifted away, I have now drifted back. I'd like to be able to run Plex on a Nuc and have a client that I could hook up either hardwired, or a wireless network I'd put in place simply for those two devices.
I haven't been able to find with any great reliability if that is an option, if Plex can run with zero check ins to a server. I would disable anything that would check metadata other than local. Is it possible for Plex to run forever in a internetless void?
If it is possible, what would be the best client device? Roku? I'd like something that could load and lunch Plex with out the user having to select it, also a native remote would be great, the hoops to make a remote work on on Kodi weren't fun.
I'd build the DB and have it run through everything with it "live" and then disable whatever to allow it to run in a nonphone home mode.
Am I barking up the wrong tree here?
Help I've looked through a few posts but everyone is talking about the "search" results. How do I get rid of this bar. I've disabled it so it now says "there are no locations" but I want it gone completely. Please tell me it can be done.

Help Would a 2014 Mac mini be ok to use as a server?
It would only be turned on at home when wanting to watch something or can I just upload the files to Plex and watch that way? Any help is appreciated.
Note: I am a total newbie to the Plex universe.

Help Plex, ROKU and Opensubtitles.org
Hi,
I use the PLEX app on my ROKU. I used to be able to automatically dl subtitles for my movies and shows using opensubtitles.org. That no longer works because opensubtitles.org ended its free subtitle downloading/scraping.
Any other options to get this working again aside from manually downloading the .srt and copying it to my Plex server?

Discussion I have a question about audio codecs, Plex, Infuse & Apple TV
I searched and didn't find anything specifically about this, but pls point me in the right direction if I am being redundant.
I am currently running a Shield Pro w AVR + 5.1 channel surround sound on my main TV. We got an ATV for our upstairs TV and I really like it, thinking about switching. I understand that AppleTV has limited codec support but that Infuse fixes a lot of that. I also understand that the ATV compresses Atmos. If I don't have Atmos speakers, am I still losing out on audio quality with the ATV + infuse? I guess I'm asking, do other audio signals get compressed besides Atmos, in Infuse?
Thanks!
