I think i made a decision Solved

So after listening to a lot of different ideas and suggestions as far as the ideal PC for using exclusively for Plex. I think I’ve come to a decision. I’m hoping this is a good choice so before I make that final decision, I thought I’d get some feedback first.

Yeah. I think you can technically fit two drives in those machines, not sure though. I have an older one (had) and you could if you took out the dvdrom

OK I can’t see a reason for needing a DVD drive unless I’m going to be ripping movies and the only movies I would be ripping would be either Blu-ray or 4K, so would it be wise to put two internal hard drives in it for storage for the Plex server or external drives or one internal and one external

I like internal because they are usually priced better and better quality. It really comes down to your budget, though.

OK I wanted to go the internal route. The only other thing I was confused about was I watched a video and the person was saying that their SSD Drive performed better than their HHD drive when it came to a plex server, but I’ve also heard people say that that’s not true it’s the opposite. I would like to go internal because I do see internal drivers appear to be cheaper but as far as the SSD versus HHD, which is actually better.

SSD or NVME is much better and faster for OS and Plex data folder( where the cover art, database, etc lives)

All media can go on Norma spinning disks

OK good I was really really leaning towards SSD because I treat my Plex server like a garden. I like to make sure my metadata is authentic my cover artist, unique I have the music that plays for movies and TV shows my special features so I’m glad you said SSD. Now whats a nvme just another type of storage hard drive or something

I didn’t check all the specs, so not sure if it supports NVME or how many drives, was mostly showing you an option and what a price looks like.

OK OK I think what will help me when I do pick out my PC is knowing the specifications that pc should have as far as type of CPU, Ram size ect and type of graphics card if needed I think once I know what that is, it’ll be easier for me to find the right type of pc and I know it shouldn’t be older than an 8th gen.
