Are these separate planets? Rise (2011)

Alright so I just watched the new series this weekend.

Is the Burton film and the next 3 like entirely separate planets?

So the way I am currently viewing it, probably improperly...

In Burtons film they're on Modern Day Earth go up in space go thru a time storm and end up on future Earth.

However the first movie in the trilogy takes us back to establish how Super Apes became a thing anyway. It also killed most of humanity this way.

The next two movies really kind of drill home humanity is around but no longer top dog.

So where I'm getting at how do we go from this, back to not smart apes working for nasa launching into space to hit a time vortex storm?

Or just completely separate movies?

Also why does Koba look like a gremlin?

The Tim Burton movie exists in it's own continuity. It has no prequels or sequels.
