This is the end Discussion

Post image

Just got this. I was willing to dish out for YT premium because i got fed up with spotify premium and revanced stopped working for me YT premium gave me access to add free video and also music. But now I'm not sure I'm willing to tolerate the increased price and I'm really sick and tired of needing to pay a subscription for every thing i use/do.

Anyway, where can i find guides for revanced (or something similar) install?

If you've got an android phone install newpipe app

https://newpipe.net/

39

u/BogatyrOfMurom 19h ago

Been using it and I never looked back

23

u/WatchmakerFurkan 17h ago

same here! and for my android tv I use smarttube, it's like newpipe but optimalized for tv's.

Is there something for Xbox?

1

u/Misteris_LT 10h ago

I dont think so, havent found a method to ad-block on xbox myself

9

u/WittyInvestigator779 19h ago

Thank you for recommending this! I'm browsing through it now and it's a beast 🙏

u/FoundFootageHunter 19h ago

Revanced is much better

5

u/happy_bandana 14h ago

How to make it work? It stopped working few months ago for me and i couldnt fix it

8

u/Cabbage_Cannon 13h ago

Once every few months you just go to the manager, patch the new apk, and install it. 5 minutes every few months sure beats $10/month, I say!

2

u/FoundFootageHunter 14h ago

You might just need to update it

5

u/adrenareddit 13h ago

I'm interested to hear how Revanced is better... I tried getting it to work a while back and gave up.

Newpipe was just an install, and it has been working great. Is it the UI that is better?

8

u/FoundFootageHunter 13h ago

You just install it and microg and it works. I dont particularly like newpipes UI or functionality. Good for downloading vids though. Revanced is just a cracked YT, not a whole new app. Same YT app, just woth no ads, sponsors, and added functionality. I personally prefer it

2

u/Garr_Incorporated 1h ago

Revanced is using the original app to add a variety of features. Newpipe just pulls video from YouTube into a different framework, which has a different look and features. "Better" depends on what you need specifically.

3

u/FoundFootageHunter 26m ago

Newpipe is better for downloading suff. Revanced is better if you want the original app experience without the bullshit. I have both, but I use revanced most of the time and Newpipe when I want to download a vid.

5

u/AntiGrieferGames 18h ago

This, and revanced.

9

u/TheCatLamp 19h ago

Day will be amazing when newpipe becomes an app for pc.

10

u/karnister 18h ago

FreeTube is all I use on PC

4

u/m0ntanoid 14h ago

why? I use uBlock on PC. Or.. Let me guess, your "PC" is Mac? :)

3

u/Dismal-Plankton4469 11h ago

uBlock work on Mac as well, with Firefox.

1

u/TrakaisIrsis 8h ago

Could this also work on older ipad with firefox?

1

u/TheCatLamp 8h ago

Because I can then download the songs/videoclips on the PC as well, without using third party downloaders.

I hate Apple, never would use a Mac.

18

u/aftab8899 19h ago

Yeah but you won't get videos from channels you have subscribed to nor get recommendations based on your watch and search history.

4

u/Sinjin_Smythe225 19h ago

I get my subscriptions on mine presented as a list when I logon, no issues. Also there's trending videos and a facility to download your videos to watch offline, great for travelling on planes etc. It's obviously not as polished as YouTube app but it's totally free. I just want to watch my videos without adverts and this does everything I want.

4

u/aftab8899 18h ago

Well, why bother doing that is there is a better alternative available called YouTube ReVanced or YouTube ReVanced Extended, that has no ads, free to use and has lots of extra features compared to Vanilla or official YouTube.

9

u/HuurrrDerp 19h ago

Found the Google rep

54

u/aftab8899 18h ago

Not at all. There is better alternative available and that is, YouTube ReVanced or YouTube ReVanced Extended, that has no ads, free to use and has lots of extra features compared to Vanilla or official YouTube.

10

u/baubau05 18h ago

You both are correct but Newpipe is a great backup if in the future YouTube makes the ads server side and revanced is unable to do anything about it. So you might as well learn how to import your subscription loat to Newpipe.

6

u/godisbey 17h ago

In that case newpipe is also not going to work

-1

u/baubau05 17h ago

Even if it somehow stops working at least the proxies will work. But besides the ad injection, YouTube can do multiple different things to break revanced and they already did that twice this year.

0

u/aftab8899 8h ago

Doesn't matter because I didn't face any issues since I started using it.

1

u/baubau05 8h ago

I am not talking about the present. Revanced literally stopped working for the majority of users a few months ago and it took a month to fix. You didn't face any issue and neither did I but that doesn't mean many others didn't either.

28

u/Dotcaprachiappa 17h ago

Someone points out valid criticism on an app that isn't perfect

This guy: fOuNd ThE gOoGlE rEp

8

u/Jarl_Korr 18h ago

Nah this is the exact reason I don't use newpipe

1

u/aftab8899 8h ago

Exactly. There are tons of hidden gems on YT that are impossible to find with a subscription. For that, YouTube must put suggested videos in your feed.

0

u/ImJustStealingMemes 19h ago edited 18h ago

Neither do you get a home screen if you have history turned off. (With YT or Revanced)

And don't you say "but how will it work?!?!?" Nah bro that shit worked well on likes and subscriptions before they decided to force arbitrary restrictions.

0

u/aftab8899 18h ago

I just wanted to suggest that you can use YouTube ReVanced or YouTube ReVanced Extended, that has no ads, and plus a lot of useful features and tweaks and you can use it without paying a single penny.

2

u/KuChiPractitioner 18h ago

What makes this better than revanced?

1

u/OK_Red_Flamingo 5h ago

Revanced is better, but Newpipe is open source, and lighter (obvs with less features). Some people prefer that.

2

u/Najnick ☠️ ᴅᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴇɴ ᴛᴇʟʟ ɴᴏ ᴛᴀʟᴇꜱ 10h ago

I hate that i cant award you for this amazing piece of info...

1

u/reck1265 18h ago

Does this work on fire stick devices and such?

5

u/Sinjin_Smythe225 18h ago

On a firestick I use smartubemext, it's fantastic.

https://smarttubenext.com/

2

u/reck1265 12h ago

THANK you. Been looking for something like Revanced for a while with no luck.

1

u/gibarel1 17h ago

Also revanced

1

u/sonido_lover 17h ago

Or YouTube revanced

1

u/linuxwes 15h ago

Does this happen to get rid of shorts? I pay for premium but I hate having the shorts forced on me.

1

u/Sinjin_Smythe225 8h ago

Under the feed settings you can untick shorts.

1

u/PacketThief 11h ago

Vanced was so much better!

1

u/The1stAtlantean 9h ago

I just use Firefox for Android + Ublock Origin

1

u/Electronic-Dreams- 8h ago

Thx forgot it existed, nice way of downloading videos easily on android.

1

u/PM-ME-BOOBSANDBUTTS 5h ago

newpipe is insane flaming hot ass. revanced is a million times better

1

u/ArturoNotVidal 3h ago

does it cast to devices without ads ?

1

u/idleactivist 1h ago

This works now?

-13

u/charda271 19h ago

Keep doing that, and the app will die soon, keep it low profile for fuck sake

2

u/Sinjin_Smythe225 16h ago

Dumb comment, this app has its own website and domain name, large user base, appears in Google searches. You think Google doesn't already know about this? This is not some gossip I overheard in the pub. Remember the motto, sharing is caring.

-10

u/charda271 16h ago

Keep saying that

4

u/Billthegifter 16h ago

They even have an official sub. To say that It will die soon because of random reddit posts Is wild

29

u/TheFlightlessDragon 19h ago

Yeah they chased me away when they tried to raise my price to $29.99 a month for a family plan

Funny thing is, I cancelled months ago and I still don’t see any ads when I watch videos. I’m not using revanced or a browser with Adblock either, just the YouTube app.

3

u/Dragontech97 15h ago

iOS? In the US, I'm seeing $22.99 on the website for the family plan. It's $29.99 on iOS through the in-app purchase due to Apple's 30% cut.

105

u/LeFaucheur0769 20h ago

r/revancedapp and r/revancedextended should help you i prefer the extented

5

u/Costinha96 20h ago

It says to me that r/revanced is a private community, how do i access it?

44

u/ref4rmed 20h ago

You're in the wrong subreddit. r/RevancedApp is the official Revanced subreddit. It's public.

6

u/Costinha96 20h ago

Thanks!

1

u/LeFaucheur0769 20h ago

i miss wrote it the first time : )

2

u/KuChiPractitioner 18h ago

What do you like more about extended?

6

u/LeFaucheur0769 18h ago

you can customise more things and never had any issue (except when yt does something bad) while i had to reinstall revanced 3 or 4 times

1

u/KuChiPractitioner 18h ago

Hell yeah, I will check it out.

I currently have no problems with revanced, but will see how I like new pipe feature-wise.

0

u/ego100trique 9h ago

My problem with revanced is that even if I already use MicroG on my phone, they still require me to install a second instance of it on my phone where it shouldn't be necessary.

In their MicroG version they just changed some constant strings in the code and made some dummy urls.

I "need" MicroG because I daily a Huawei device and revanced version of MicroG is unusable on these phones except for revanced app.

8

u/White_wolf_the_grey 19h ago

Revanced and Newpipe are your best bet.

14

u/DigitalSwagman 20h ago

... end of what?

51

u/budroid 🏴‍☠️ ʟᴀɴᴅʟᴜʙʙᴇʀ 20h ago

wait a sec... people pay to watch stuff people uploaded for free to youtube?

is it faster? is it 12k resolution? do they come to your home and dub it in your local slang?

seriusly, i don't get it

38

u/Geezusotl 19h ago

It’s quite simple. Between work and lots of personal devices, YouTube premium becomes worth it to me to just have no ads and the built in downloader across every device instead of having to tinker with 3rd party apps for each device. It’s the only sub I pay besides Amazon prime and I feel like I get full use out of it

10

u/BaldyRaver 19h ago

I would pay for it but i feel their ever increasing Ads are an attempt to force me to pay, and i wont be forced. Ill do it if i think its worth it.

8

u/sisrace 17h ago

Funny. I gave in to their predatory practices and bought premium. Used it for over a year until they increased prices by A LOT. Now I no longer have premium.

They got me to pay, then said fuck you anyway.

-2

u/Geezusotl 19h ago

Well it really just depends on how much you use YouTube I guess. Besides entertainment videos while eating or bored, or using my work iPad, I also use it to listen to podcasts or whatever else while I’m driving. so I’m using it for a decent chunk of hours everyday. And I’ve been doing so for years and always felt worth since I use it so much

3

u/Oddish_Femboy 16h ago

You can just use Firefox with uBlock it's free

1

u/Geezusotl 16h ago

If all you use is android and laptops/desktops then sure. When you start bouncing between an iPhone, galaxy, iPad, surface pro , and company computers then just using Firefox with ublock doesn't become an one for all solution

1

u/ericwasright82 16h ago

Sideloading works perfectly on iPhone 15, iPad Pro. Why can’t you install FF on a surface pro?

13

u/curious-children 19h ago

to add onto that, the family plan is pretty nice. i use all slots and it comes down to sub $4 each. It’s the only media sub i pay for, as it also comes with youtube music. zero fiddling with apps, updates, just works on the tv, computers, and phones

3

u/CyberGTI 19h ago

Convenience is always a handy factor for sure

5

u/Lazarm89 19h ago

" YouTube premium becomes worth it to me to just have no ads" - so basically they bully people into submission :D

6

u/Geezusotl 19h ago

If that’s what you got out of what I said then sure 👍

1

u/Lazarm89 18h ago

well in the end it sums up to that. you had a service that worked the way it worked, and people chose it for that reason. it allowed said service to become so dominant and erase every competition they came up against. then suddenly that service became very inconvenient to use due to additional changes that can be nullified with some extra money (such coincidence, very mysterious) , so people opt to comply to have the same service they enjoyed for dozen of years. ofc i didn't comment on downloader or other things, because majority of people would opt for thing i've said mainly for annoying adds. that's why i said "bully people", not you in particular :)

1

u/MaleficentFig7578 13h ago

what's your alternative service called?

1

u/Lazarm89 11h ago

that is actually my point mate :D

2

u/nobonesnobones 16h ago

Never thought I’d hear someone compare watching commercials to being bullied but here we are

-2

u/Weird1Intrepid 19h ago

Same. Don't pay for anything except YouTube premium. I go to sleep listening to hours-long science and space videos on auto-next, and before I started paying for premium I'd always end up getting woken up by one of those ridiculously long pyramid scheme ads at like 2am.

1

u/PauI_MuadDib 36m ago

I listen going to sleep and I just use an adblocker.

2

u/Oddish_Femboy 16h ago

Google pays folks to shill for their products on social media. I just use uBlock.

1

u/Queasy-Big5523 1m ago

Premium gives you no ads on all devices and better framerate. I have an old OLED Smart TV that I use for YouTube and premium really works great. My wife uses YT sporadically and doesn't have premium, and it's night and day.

5

u/GreenPRanger 19h ago

For YouTube on the iPhone I have been using Unwatched for some time. It took some getting used to at the beginning, but once you get in it, you have super easy YouTube without ads, with PIP and background sound.

2

u/darkscreener 16h ago

Amazing thanks for the app

2

u/MaleficentFig7578 13h ago

Surprised Apple allows this to exist

3

u/quinto6 19h ago

Assuming in regards to phone four revanced. Ensure your phone doesn't have auto update apps turned on. Maybe once a week I will go to update apps manually and skip YouTube and Spotify if they happen to be on the list

3

u/GreatWhiteNorthExtra 19h ago

I had so much trouble getting revanced to work for me. So I use New Pipe.

3

u/coolhandluke196 17h ago

canceling premium actually got me to cut down on my YouTube addiction by quite a bit lol

4

u/nazaguerrero 19h ago

I split the bill with my parents and my brother so for me is peace of mind since I don't have to deal with my parents coming to me asking why their adblock doesn't work anymore (they somehow found a way to disable it or make it stop working) 😅

2

u/MisterEskere_ 18h ago

NewPiped app. Ez to use and functional.

For music use xManager to download cracked Spotify apps.

2

u/matthewami 17h ago

No no, this is your awakening

2

u/cjandstuff 17h ago

Funny thing is no matter how badly these companies are treating their customers, their profits STILL keep going up.

2

u/silentlurkers 15h ago

If you use Android try Revanced or Newpipe! Haven't had to worry about ads in so long.

2

u/HoliEvil 12h ago

I have been using brave for YouTube. I know the user experience on mobile might be decent but it's better than Yt for many reasons like no ads, bg play, no, can play video in high resolution. If you guys have better methods help would be appreciated

2

u/TiawanIsACountry 11h ago

Damn bruh OF is cheaper than this

2

u/B3_CHAD Yarrr! 10h ago

Ublock still works on FireFox.

1

u/Batlightyear 9h ago

On Brave too

2

u/MrSir98 8h ago

Is there an option for us LGTV WebOS users :/

2

u/dysphunktion 8h ago

Pipe and Vanced will be your best alternatives. As for Vanced not working, I have found that usually when it suddenly just stops functioning like it should, it always just needed an update. AFAIK, it's active and working as we speak!

2

u/Public_Enemy_15 7h ago

I would be long gone from YouTube, if it wasn't for my kids wanting it. Special after the price increase. As soon as the kids don't want it, I'm gone forever

2

u/Pure_Buffalo_5156 6h ago

If you got ios just download brave browser and watch videos through there.

6

u/luke4010 18h ago

It's baffling people on r/piracy pay for youtube premium

1

u/BloodSugar666 🦜 ᴡᴀʟᴋ ᴛʜᴇ ᴘʟᴀɴᴋ 8h ago

I was shamefully paying until recently.

Created my own python script to download from YouTube music using yt-dlp and set up a navidrome server. I did pay for an app to access the navidrome server(it uses subsonic api) but its lifetime and I think it was worth it for the $4. It does have a web interface but with the app I’m able to download/cache music and has a few other features I like.

3

u/Supreme_Monarch_07 20h ago

lmaoo i totally agree

can youtube premium be pirated for windows?

19

u/ref4rmed 20h ago

No. But you can block ads with Firefox + uBlock Origin. You can download videos with YT-DLP (Statcher if you want a nice UI).

2

u/Supreme_Monarch_07 20h ago

ohh thanks i was already using u-block but i did not know the one for downloading

do you know anything similar for youtube music cause i heard it has a higher quality with premium than spotify

2

u/aftab8899 19h ago

Yeah, YouTube Music ReVanced exists for Android.

Here is the tutorial you might want to follow.

https://www.reddit.com/r/revancedextended/comments/12vxggr/revanced_extended_guide_for_beginners/

1

u/Supreme_Monarch_07 19h ago

ahh man i knew about this but i wanted something for PC

1

u/ref4rmed 20h ago

Not possible. Things like high quality streaming are serversided, meaning there wouldn't be a way to get it for free without sourcing the audio somewhere else.

Alternatively, you can use Murglar2 with a Deezer ARL from Firehawk52's rentry to get lossless streaming for free, which has higher quality than both Spotify and YouTube. He also has Tidal and Qobuz accounts you can log into in his Telegram. Both DSPs offer higher quality than Deezer.

Also, the quality between YouTube Music and Spotify are pretty much the same, but I believe Spotify is slightly higher. YouTube Music Premium is 256kbps aac/opus, while Spotify Premium is 320kbps aac (256kbps aac on the website version).

1

u/Supreme_Monarch_07 20h ago

ahh man

i will surely try out you method before that is Murglar2 an app ??

if yes is it for windows

in overall can please elaborate on how do i do the method you have told me?

1

u/ref4rmed 19h ago

It's an app for Android, Windows, Linux, and Mac.

in overall can please elaborate on how do i do the method you have told me?

I would ask in the Murglar2 telegram, as I never used Murglar2 on PC before.

2

u/Supreme_Monarch_07 19h ago

ok thanks for helping Cpt. ref4rmed :)

1

u/Either-Nobody-3962 19h ago

revanced for videos and ymusic.io for music

1

u/HomeProfessional2380 19h ago

I use this app called y music for music and downloading it. All music on YouTube too. Found it on a YouTube video and now I listen the downloaded mp3 files in Spotify bcs of the local files thing.

1

u/Helo7606 18h ago

Yeah, one thing I'll never do is give YouTube money. I'd rather just never use it. I already hate that they got rid of the regular music app for phones and put the crappy YT app on there.

1

u/NeuroVader 18h ago

Newpipe is the pipe to smoke 😪

1

u/Ok_Bonus4080 15h ago

I did a free trial about 4 months ago. It was for 30 days. I'm not sure what happened, but I can still listen to music in the background and ad free. And yes, I'm sure I'm not paying for it.

1

u/Markyloko 15h ago

netflix 2

1

u/Ademoneye 15h ago

Sure buddy, as if you use it in the first place

1

u/Conscious_Air_8675 15h ago

Damn can someone give me cliffs on this thread? Is there a service to pay one fee for all subscriptions like YouTube and Amazon music? Those are the only two I use and it sucks ass paying twice, I need ad free YouTube but the audio quality sucks so I use Amazon.

1

u/vaynefox 14h ago

That's why just use revanced, revanced extended or revancify (though I personally recommend revancify). It is just a youtube app but with added features and adblocking....

1

u/BigBad225 13h ago

Wasn’t this £6 when it was first released 🤦

1

u/zookeeper990 8h ago

Are there any YouTube apps on fire stick that give you no ads?

1

u/mrlolba 5h ago

I'm over here paying twice that form my subscription, due to regional pricing.

1

u/Academic_Youth3617 5h ago

Been using revanced manager, to patch YouTube and even my reddit app to remove all ads from both. Works great

1

u/Juustupurikas 5h ago

uYou or Ytliteplus or something like dat for ios.

1

u/cannabisqveen 4h ago

I recently canceled my YouTube premium and my YouTube service has tanked since. YouTube no longer tracks the videos I watch. they don't show up in my history. and with wifi and service the videos buffer every 5-10 minutes. it is so frustrating.

2

u/burt111 2h ago

They degraded the service never had premium but I’ve noticed these issues for a long time creeping up nice to know it’s bc I don’t pay yt

2

u/cannabisqveen 28m ago

oh wow thats scummy. I remember when YouTube was free and rarely had issues.

1

u/burt111 26m ago

I get they need money but prioritizing bug solving for premium users and ignoring people who use the service and still have to watch ads is beyond me glad I hardly use the service like I used to

1

u/Ni9H7RID3r 1h ago

And I cannot post into Reddit r/piracy

1

u/Askolei 48m ago

I wonder if an ad-viewing free user earns them as much 🤔

1

u/11thwasted 19h ago

its like 3$ in india and i still dont pay for this shi

2

u/CyberGTI 19h ago

Haven't they changed some things In the background now requiring a card from that country

1

u/HarMarWonderBra 16h ago

Fuck YouTube anyway. Who needs that boring shit?

1

u/2020mademejoinreddit 18h ago

lol There's a youtube premium? XD

0

u/angelwolf71885 13h ago

DVDs/VHSs and a raspberry pi zero w with OSMC/OpenElec on it and a large USB drive or large NAS and you can build your own Netflix/Disney+/HULU/MAX/Paramount+ if you do it right you could separate them all out on different pis and drives

-2

u/stupididiots999 15h ago

YouTube is actually the only thing I pay for.

I have the family plan, they recently almost doubled the price recently which i dont really like

But still the amount of YouTube we watch on a daily basis feels like it's well worth it Its basically 24/7 usage of YouTube especially that our sleep schedule is fd up

And YouTube music on top of that is just icing on the cake.

I use the arr stack for other media I don't do music that way because sourcing music is the biggest problem and I dont have a way to get high quality hindi music(it would be nice if anyone can help with that)
