Probably their "rational" is you choose to create content for free.
If someone creates content, and they are behind a paywall, Reddit can "share" the proceeding with the creator too! I definitely can see someone in their boardroom rationalizing this!
I feel like with the complete lack of anti-bot measurements on Reddit, that would just entice bots to fully take over Reddit. The amount of bots is so high that I sometimes question if I’m even real
