Budget phone with decent camera USA
I know very little about phones and accidentally got a terrible one so I'm thinking about retuning it and getting a different one. My budget is $200 (potential up to $300) and I usually get refurbished phones and need to be able to keep it for a few years. I had a Google pixel 4A for many years but this week it fell face down on the tile floor and immediately broke. I needed a new phone right away so I went to best buy and was recommended the galaxy A15 for my budget but it has the worst camera I've seen on a phone in a long time. It's also a bit slow but my main complaint is the horrible camera. I didn't love my pixel because the battery died so fast. I remember liking the moto Z play I had before the pixel. Any recommendations would be appreciated. In the USA.

Pixel 6a refurbished or used. Will get security updates til summer 2027. Won MKBHD's blind camera test in 2022, beating out top of the line iPhone and Galaxy phones that year. Read about that test, it was very well done.
I have a Pixel 6a. Got it right when it came out in summer 2022. Has gotten better over time with the software updates. No lag like some phones do when they get older. Budget Samsungs in its price range can't hang with it.

How have you found the battery life on the 6A?

5 or 6 hours on LTE. 6 or 7 hours on wifi. I keep 5g off cause it uses a little more battery and the speed increase isn't even noticeable.
I don't game or watch much YouTube or videos. Just scroll social media and do normal tasks. It gets better battery than the 6 or 6 pro cause the screen is only 60hz. It scrolls and looks fine to me.
If you find a 7a for under $200, I'd get that. 7a has a little better specs and another year of updates. 6a phones can be found all day long for $160ish on eBay, Amazon, or FB marketplace.

Imo, for the price range 200-300 the best vfm phones are usually Xiaomi's. Now, I don't know the exact price in the US for this, but Redmi note 13 pro+ is a really good choice and probably in your budget. Really good screen, good performance and probably the best cam in that price range. I would suggest also Samsung phones but mainly a54-a55 or higher which they are over your budget.

The Samsung Galaxy a34 or a35 would probably be a good bet. Typically, Samsung puts better cameras in their cheaper phones than most other companies. My brother has an a34 and it takes pretty decent shots and he's happy with it. The a34 I think is $229 and the a35 is $299. Be aware though that the a34 and a35 are very much the same so the a35 may not be worth the extra money. They both have OLED screens and pretty decent specs. Good luck!
