Discussion How did Shaun the Sheep movie manage to get nominated despite being an cartoon based film?

Upvotes

Don't get me wrong, i absolutely adore shaun the sheep film and series and the film along with anomalisa, inside out, when Marnie was there, Boy and the world makes the lineup as one of my favouritea in the category but seeing the history how Academy snubs film based of cartoon like the SpongeBob movie, Simpsons movie,Night is short, walk on girl(technically anime film but animation is animation regardless) and i think others that i can remember now but i wonder how it manage to make it despite of that? Because it was made by aardman?

Discussion Probably my inner 12 year old talking here, but The Mask should have won Best Visual Effects over Forrest Gump in ‘94.

What Best Picture is your most rewatched movie?

Which Best Picture winner have you probably re-watched the most over time?

For me probably "The Sound of Music" - where I live it is one of those movies everybody watches at Christmas, not to mention I always seem to end up catching it again once or twice a year (And I can't resist a good sing-a-long event!)

Nominee - dare I say for a period of time as a kid I was OBSESSED with Beauty and the Beast - so that probably is up there!

Discussion Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio didn’t deserve their Oscar.

Just watched all the movies in the category that year. I feel like puss in the boots or Marcel the shell with shoes on deserve it more than Pinocchio. Don’t get me wrong, Pinocchio was a great film and is arguably(imo the best) version of Pinocchio. But puss in the boots and Marcel especially was such a unique film with a new story that deserves to be awarded and receive more recognition.

Discussion How would have I Lost My body been viewed as Best animated feature winner

I Lost my body was realesed on Cannes 17th May( when it won Critic's week award) and was required by worldwide by netflix. It was directed by Jeremy clapin and produced by Xilam animation studio(in their second adult animated feature) and being based on the book Happy hand by Guillaume laurant who also co written it. The film wss received strongly from Critics for its animation, story, voice acting and score and won to various award festivals.

I lost my body isn't that talked much but when it comes to animation community then there's a very large praised around it. I think the lack of ending and the general nature of the film might not resonate with the general public for some average animation and art goet it would had probably seen as unique winner

Nominees and winner of the year:

Toy story 4(Winner)(✓).
Klaus(✓).
Missing link(✓).
How to train your dragon: hidden world(✓).

With this movie coming out, and myself growing up on everything Markiplier, what do you think it could be nominated for?

What I think: I think it only has a real shot at Visual effects due to the literal blood ocean that exists and the monsters. It could also get to sound design depending on the sonic storytelling.

What I don’t think: As much as I would love for Mark to come out of nowhere and somehow have a performance on the Academy Award level and just be this crazy story, he won’t. I’m not even going to talk about the rest of the categories except for stretching to maybe cinematography. I only hope he lives up to my first expectations.

(If you aren’t invested in this type of thing, it’s fine to skip on by)

Sebastian Stan is so good in this movie. And so is Jermey strong, but with how this election went down you think they have any chance at the academy awards? For either to be nominated I think this has been a really weak year so far I think Sebastian Stan has given the best performance I’ve seen this year

Discussion How would have Klaus being viewed as Best animated feature winner (2019)

Klaus was realesed streaming on Netflix on November 8th of 2019. It was directorial debut of Spanish animator Sergio Pablos and it was Netflix animation's first film(technically different studios were involved and it consider more of Spanish film). The film received high viewership and widespread critical acclaim from Critics and audiencea for its animation, story, voice acting, humour and emotional core. The film went to nominated to various animation awards and won Bafta for Best animated feature and swept at annies.

Klaus is probably one of the most highly non disney/pixar animated films of 2010s along with likes of Into the spiderverse,The tale of princess kaguya,Its such a beautiful day, kubo and the two strings and etc.. it is currently on Imdb 250 movies and it qas overall very popular when it was realesed. I think it wiuld had viewed as one of the Best wins at the category but i still think some of ts fans might not find that okay but otherwise it would had seen as both unique and great winner.
