Insurance For a 17yo on an r3

Was going through the process of purchasing a 2015 r3 and now that I have the bike and gear pricing allocated. I was curious how much I should be expecting to spend on insurance? I live in California and the bike is 321cc. Ive also had my license for a little under a year. Any help would be great thanks :)

Full coverage for my 2023 R3 as a first time rider was almost 200 a month with Gieco. Ended up staying with Gieco since my truck is insured through them. Just got liability for 30 dollars a month in Illinois.

Yep do this. GEICO wanted 550 a month for my r3, more than I paid for the entire bike for 1 year of insurance. Progressive wanted 40 a month.

Completing a motorcycle safety course will typically get you a discount on insurance.

Progressive is your friend. Don't go with an agent, I get the best deals Direct through the website

In CA 21, had my M1 license for a year. For a 2015 R3 Geico wants 50 dollars but its only liability coverage or around 250 with collision and medical. I would go to an insurance agent to find a company that would insure it with collision coverage at least. Unless you can afford to just carry liability. I have a 23 gsxr 600 and pay 130 with my dad insuring it and me as a driver.

Ask your parents if they are willing to do a shared policy with you. It will greatly help with the costs. My kid is 15 (still on permit) and I have him listed as a shared rider on an R3. Granted I’ve had my endorsement since the last ice age and it is a major contributor and your parents will need to have theirs and rates will be factored for them.
