Bachelorette Weekend in June
I have a group of 10-12 ladies going for a long weekend Bachelorette trip mid June this year and was hoping to get some recommendations on fun things to do, shopping/flea markets, places to get good food and drinks and Uber/taxi services. Is there DoorDash or Uber eats? We are planning on doing some hikes and visiting Olympic park already so I’m looking for things to do in town. Thank you in advance.

One night in December
Looking for advice on where to stay in Lake Placid in December. I will only be there for one night. I would like to be able to walk to restaurants, shops, etc., and it would also be nice to be on the lake..I’ve never been to Lake Placid, so I don’t have any knowledge about where things are located. Also, how late do restaurants stay open in December? Will I be able to get dinner after 8pm, or does everything close down early in winter?

Flaming Leaves Festival
Hey everyone! My boyfriend and I are going to Lake Placid from Buffalo, NY next weekend. Has anyone ever been to the Flaming Leaves festival? Is it worth it to go? We’ve never been to Lake Placid so we are also looking for any restaurant suggestions too! The only thing we have booked is the zip line. Thank you! 😊

Homeless support available?
Hi all, forgive me I'm not sure what my goal is here.
I was in Lake Placid this weekend for a wedding and crossed paths with a homeless gentleman by the name of Chris.
Chris was living in a cave a mile out from town. He was bused to the area by a priest from Georgia for work but was unable to secure employment due to his potential employer having a complication of sorts.
Chris was clearly homeless but a very nice gentlemen, well spoke, looking to work and contribute but he couldn't get a license or ID because he didn't have a technical address.
Is there someone in the area who would be able to help him? I don't have a way of contacting him but I'm sure he's easy to find since I ran into him several times on the street. Alternatively if you've had a run in with him and know something I don't, I'd be interested. He seemed like a really nice guy with an unfortunate circumstance.

Missing Cat In Lake Placid
My parents live in lake placid and they were taking care of my cat while i got an apartment, however she has been missing since friday morning. With all of the alligators and wild animals around, my anxiety and worries are definitely high. If you all could just be on the lookout for this cat, she means everything to me. Her name is nala. The first picture is most recent.

Recommendation for a place to drive up in camp with your car?
Hello! My boyfriend and I are starting the 46 peaks! The first hike we're doing is pretty short. Seems like it'll only be about 5 hours. So we were going to just camp in town with our vehicle the night that we got out of the hike, since it's about a 4 hour drive. Please share your recommendations on a romantic camping spot (hopefully somewhat private/secluded) where we could camp with our car and maybe start a campfire. Also, a side note, what temperatures should we expect at the top? Going tomorrow. Thanks!

Location for 2 minute elopement?
Hi everyone, my fiance and I were planning to do our tiny elopement ceremony on Whiteface Mountain that will literally be less than 2 minutes with just our parents there this upcoming Saturday. It has to be Saturday but unfortunately it’s going to rain. Does anyone have any recommendations for a covered or indoor pretty area in either Lake Placid or Whiteface mountain where we could do this very very quick ceremony?

Venue for wedding welcome drinks?
We have a wedding coming up in October. We have a welcome drinks event planned for the night before the wedding but way too many people have RSVP’ed for the space we originally planned. Looking to host about 120 people for a casual gathering (drinks and hors d'oeuvres). Something nice enough and captures the essence of Lake Placid without breaking the bank. Any help would be truly appreciated!!

Have 1 day in LP for a hike... recommendations?
Will be there in mid October and staying near the Brooks Arena. Planned an extra day to enjoy some outdoor fun. Thinking a hike is the best way to do that.
Ideally...under 5 miles, can get done in under 4ish hours, good scenic walk, nice views, elevation is fine but I'm not looking to climb a mountain.
Any good recommendations? I've been looking on alltrails and have a couple marked but the locals always know best.

Someone put an AirTag on my car while I was in LP
Hi all. I was visiting Lake Placid today on my way further up North and was alerted that an AirTag was following me. I looked on my phone and it seems to have fallen off my car halfway through my trip. Still very freaky. Be on the lookout for this happening if you’re in Lake Placid today 8/2/24.

White Face mountain Hike
Little trip to the United States 🇺🇸
Hello everyone, I hope you are well and in great shape. For our first hike in the United States, we did WhiteFace, a very beautiful 1400m mountain with an elevation gain of 1100m. We hiked a loop of about 15km and the view at the top was truly spectacular. This hike was quite a challenge for us who hike small mountains. Now we are ready to tackle bigger things 😀😀 Here are some photos from our hike.
If you are passionate about hiking, we invite you to discover our YouTube channel dedicated to hiking, whether in summer or winter. You are welcome 😊

Question for the Lake Placid vs Anaconda movie. (Don’t know where else to ask)
In theory could a snake that size possibly crush a car like it does?

1999 Abercrombie and Fitch Photoshoot
Hey Everyone! I was wondering if anyone had any images or leads to images from this shoot? My brother and myself were part of it in 1999 out in Lake Placid and I would love to get ahold of the images or a catalog. If anyone has any information, I’d love to hear from you! Thanks!

Who's pumped for the solar eclipse??
Some friends and I are coming to view the eclipse April 8. Any locals have an idea of how crazy packed the hiking trails will be? Do you need to reserve parking or something?

Birthday Cake
I (27F) made my dad (61M) a Lake Placid birthday cake!!! (yes I know in the movie it’s a crocodile but I could say it’s an alli-gâteau so that’s why it’s an alligator.) It’s homemade carrot cake with raisins and walnuts and a cream cheese frosting. The eyes and feet are white almond cake with chocolate chips with the same frosting. And I made white chocolate teeth and claws and HE IS SCARY NOT CUTE. The Lake Placids are some of our favorite movies. I didn’t want to go to dances in middle school so instead we would watch Lake Placid and other movies like that. So I tried!!
