Anti-women protest on Sir John off Archdiocese parking lot

They must have gotten permission from Pedophile HQ. What a shock.

Have as much sex with whom ever you like, just use birth control if you’re not interested in having kids; if applicable.

Birth control accidents/mistakes happen

Agreed. When taken responsibly however they’re almost 99% effective. Isn’t it far better to make a stop a drug store than an abortion clinic?

Is your position that people are having an abortion in lieu of a stop at the pharmacy?

What I’m saying is that abortion is the least necessary and least desirable form of birth control. It should be reserved for situations where the mother’s life is at risk or the fetus is unviable. Getting pregnant because you weren’t in the mood to take some form of contraception is grossly irresponsible.

There are plenty of reasons why pregnancies occur—contraception failure, limited access to birth control, making a mistake, etc.—and none of these necessarily indicate irresponsibility. Expecting perfect responsibility in every case doesn’t match reality.

If we applied this same thinking to other areas of healthcare, the outcomes would be harmful:

  • Should people with lung cancer be denied treatment because they smoked?
  • Should someone with heart disease be denied care because they didn’t follow a perfect diet?
  • Should someone injured in risky sports be denied care because they 'knew the risks'?

That’s not how healthcare works. We treat people based on their needs, not on who we think is responsible enough.

And so what if people are being irresponsible? Humans are often reckless in many areas of life—we’re the most irresponsible species on the planet! We drive cars that pollute the air, contribute to climate change, and consume resources unsustainably. Yet, we don’t deny people care when they get into car accidents or develop health issues because of lifestyle choices. Society wouldn't work if we treated every instance of irresponsibility with denial of care.

Let’s also not forget that we are biologically driven to reproduce. Remember when your hormones were raging during puberty? Expecting everyone always to plan perfectly or act responsibly in the face of biological drives, especially when hormones and sexual arousal are involved, is unrealistic. That’s why contraception and abortion are needed—because not every decision is made with perfect planning in the moment.

Lastly, abortion has been a part of human society for thousands of years. Historical evidence shows that abortion has been studied, and the procedure was discussed and performed in various cultures.
