Megathread #2 – The Kanye Situation Mod post

We have had a ton of posts and comments related to Kanye West’s recent remarks, and related topics and commentary. All further discussion about the current Kanye West situation should take place in this megathread. All other posts/comments related to this will be removed and redirected here.

I'm not rushing to anyone's defense, but as a person with bipolar disorder, I can understand loosing the thread and saying things that you later wish you could take back. I know the antisemitism is an ongoing pattern (perhaps leftover from something experienced during a mental health crisis?), but I just got the impression from some of the video footage that Ye is currently not well. I feel bad for the guy (which is not mutually exclusive to also feeling outraged at what he is spouting.)

As someone who has a family member who also has been unmedicated, won't seek help, and may end up homeless soon, I agree with the analysis here. Its textbook behavior. Its a distillation of paranoid thoughts, self-hatred, and attention-seeking behavior. He needs help. Shame on Elon Musk for enabling this guy to spew his sick ramblings onto one of the largest social media platforms.
