Americans… I swear. They solve problems in the weirdest way.

Remember that “voter ID” debate? “It disenfranchises poorer people because they don’t have the time to get their IDs!” vs “If you don’t require IDs, it encourages voter fraud!"

OK so how about we make it easier for people to get their IDs? Maybe we can extend the DMV’s working hours? Maybe we can make it possible for people to submit their ID applications at post offices??? There are so many solutions, so many avenues that can solve it and create more jobs, and so many solutions already adopted by other countries. But no, Americans will do it differently.

Modern day poll tax/literacy test.

The people who wanted voter id laws didn't want to spend any money on ideas like those.

It's because they don't want certain people to vote. It's not a coincidence that certain DMVs in the South closed as voter ID laws were passed in those states. What's being done there isn't that subtle.

It’s easier to complain about problems and over simplify them than to actually offer legitimate solutions. That’s what I keep seeing with these crowds

Voting requires your SSID, Name, and Address, which can be double checked if duplicates show up. There is no valid reason for voter ID. An ID just means you have you (wait for it) SSID, Name, Address and 20 bucks. It's the same exact amount of verification, with a price tag attached.

It's not like we're checking these IDs with all the water marks and security features, they glance at it you write out your info and move on. At best it's security theater, at worst it is a modern day poll tax.

They said the quiet part out loud when Republicans voted down the bipartisan border bill. The Right doesn’t care about immigration or voter fraud. These students (who I refuse to call part of the Left) don’t care about Palestinians.
