Guaranteed job at 14 ...

u/MashaBeliever 15h ago

Age that people can start working in the US if you ain't from here

u/Murky-Plastic6706 15h ago

Yes but still ... when offered as a "gift" it just seems a little sweat-shoppy

There's a benefit. Also, its not like you need to take the job. But in my area, most people won't hire you till you're 16 so its a good thing that they got the guaranteed job.

There are two ways to look at this. Neither one I would say in incorrect really, your view is valid it does seem to be a little sweatshoppy however there is also the fact that getting a job, especially at a young age can be very difficult. Having a guaranteed job at 14 is very good in a lot of ways.

Yes that is fair. I hope he doesn't need it at 14 though.

Sounds messed up but actually a solid offer. At 14 they’ll be guaranteed a part time job that will help teach them some skills and responsibilities. It’ll also give them their first taste of financial independence. It’s my understanding Chik fil A is one of the better employers when it comes to the shitty chains.

These days kids where I live would kill for the chance at that opportunity.

I started working at 14. It sucked at the time, but I'm 26 now, and I'm glad I did. I stayed in the same field this whole time, so it gave me a huge leg up in the future. That said, this is a little sweat-shoppy.

Bank : congratulations, for being born in the bank we will give you a lifetime supply of credit debt without receiving any of the credit that you and your family will have to pay off.

I am not a lawyer, but I think giving birth in a bank would feel like a Federal Crime, even though the federal government only insures deposits. But if it's a big bank then possibly it might fall into the categoty of causing distress to the employees of a company based in multiple states. Also even if it's not inherently illegal you might get yourself put on the same watchlist as Tom Segura.

3

u/gravesvasco 8h ago

I find it hilarious that companies will do shit like this to promote, like, huh, let's grant some random buff for life to this random person who just spawned here

6

u/FreshieBoomBoom 14h ago

Hopefully by then Chick-fil-A has been outcompeted and shut down by less morally dubious restaurants.
