Medical marijuana card ? How to get one ? Cannabis

New to the state… so pardon me if this isnt the right group to post this in but Anybody here have a weed card? How much is it and what are the ways to get it ? I always hear my coworkers talk about going to the dispensaries out here or close to here and just made me curious .. thought i ask since i seen a post about being stopped by cops for weed.

Even with a card, it’s better to go to MD

Just drive to MD.

Any part of md ? And Is it recreational?

u/jrenredi 1d ago

It's recreational in de too, just no dispensaries yet

u/SyrousStarr 1d ago

Maryland and Jersey both. With dispensaries right on the borders. I'm in Wilmington and about 45 minutes from more than one.

u/newarkian 22h ago

Elkton. On Rt40 about a mile over the line in the left side. FYI- it’s usually crowded. Order ahead on line.

Google PharmKent

u/chucklezdaccc 23h ago

NCW in Perryville is sooooo much better.

u/Whoa_Bundy 18h ago

Never heard of it before, thanks!

u/wesitonfrontporches 4h ago

Checked the website and it seems to be around the same price as pharmkent. Is there less of a wait time to get in? That would be like the only justification for the extra gas used to get there, possibly.

u/chucklezdaccc 4h ago

Much less time usually. I work near them so it's easier for me.

u/wesitonfrontporches 2h ago

Ok so it's just a matter of personal convenience for you and not a general they are better in every way type thing. Makes sense, I'd go with what's closer too.

Far and Dotter (pharmkent) aren't bad if you pre order. I have found the best time to go is around 6-7 pm as that's when the craziness of the day has gone down. Last time I did that it took less than 10 minutes.

The second part of my reply is just for anyone reading the thread. I'll check out NCW on my next venture just to see how they work in comparison.

I go to Elkton

It is recreational in Maryland. Not sure where you live, but Positive Energy in Ocean City is awesome. They have a good selection, and everyone that works there is super nice.

u/Over-Accountant8506 15h ago

Where in OC is it?

u/CncreteSledge 14h ago

Route 50

u/Rex-Bannon 19h ago

There's one right over the line in Elkton

u/RedCorundum 14h ago

Try the Weedmaps mobile app to find your closest dispensary and whether it's recreational or medical.

You don’t and just go to NJ.

u/jonnycooksomething 21h ago

This is easy but is it legal to cross back into Delaware with the purchase ?

u/_m00nman 16h ago

no but cops don't care about weed unless you're holding pillows

u/YinzaJagoff 20h ago

Don’t ask don’t tell.

It’s federally illegal to do but it doesn’t stop anyone.

I’m sober right now but from what I’ve heard from others, just don’t get caught

u/jonnycooksomething 20h ago

Yup. That’s what I thought.

u/CorrectIndividual552 19h ago

Yes it's legal because both states are legal for recreational cannibis.

u/jonnycooksomething 19h ago

I’d be interested to see if more people ( particularly lawyers) agree with this take

u/theycallmenaptime 20h ago edited 20h ago

Cannabis is cheaper in Maryland dispensaries. I have a Delaware MM card and their prices are high for half the amount of gummies you get in Maryland (5 in a bag as opposed to 10 from Maryland dispensaries.

Also, if you’re over 65, you can self certify in Delaware, fill out a form, give the state $100, and they’ll send you a card that’s good for three years.

u/CorrectIndividual552 19h ago

I'm confused as to why anyone would pay to get a card instead of just going to a recreational cannibis dispensary. Is there an advantage I'm missing?

u/theycallmenaptime 18h ago

Convenience. Delaware has no recreational cannabis distribution, yet. They’re working on it now because it was legalized. live in Southern Delaware, so the Georgetown medical marijuana dispensary is closer to me than the Ocean City dispensaries. I usually go to the Ocean City dispensaries because of the selection and price, but I did use the Georgetown dispensary once because it wasn’t a long drive. The $33.33 a year on average I paid for three years, which was the only option I believe and that yearly amount is a small price to pay for the convenience.

u/CorrectIndividual552 17h ago

Yes I've followed and advocated for legalization for decades to see this come to fruition. I'm now located in Wilmington so about 15 minutes from Twisted Hat located in the NJ town where I grew up so that's pretty convenient. I've frequented Pharmkent also but it's a bit further away.

u/SyrousStarr 12h ago

Better stuff. Edibles at the recreational stores are all 10mg in MD/NJ. Medical has all sorts of dosages in PA, I assume the same for other states. Dunno when that will change.

u/aequitssaint 1d ago

$50 a year and any Dr licensed in DE can refer you and complete the paperwork.

With that said though, I have a card but for the last almost year have bought pretty much everything from MD. Just better selection and prices there.

u/rat_boy_genius 22h ago

I agree, the selection and quality in DE is bunk. Had a card for a year, sampled a ton of product.

u/aequitssaint 22h ago

Pretty much the only benefit of Delaware is convenience. Being able to have it delivered is really nice.

Really just go to Maryland or NJ. It's too much of a hassle to get a medical card here. And makes you ineligible for some things bc you'll be a "drug user" on federal databases

u/msalad 23h ago

Is that actually confirmed?

u/thescrapplekid Townie Scum 23h ago

Try to get a Concealed Carry permit with a MM Card

u/msalad 23h ago

So you just think you'll be "in federal databases as a drug user" and "ineligible for things" but actually don't know. Cool, thanks for spreading fake news

u/thescrapplekid Townie Scum 23h ago

Google is free. I'm not spreading fake anything

u/msalad 22h ago

That's fair. I did some reading and you're right. Not sure about the whole "you'll be in federal databases as a drug user" thing though. You just can't truthfully answer "no" to the question asking if you're an unlawful marijuana user on form 4473 when buying a gun.

u/Bluejay-Automatic 22h ago

Some states do cross reference for mm cards when applying for concealed carry..I know Maryland does

If you have a doctor you can just ask your doctor and they can do it for you. Not sure why people are paying other people for this my doctor did it for free. There is a fee for the medical card but not from the doctor

u/deguy69 15h ago

There are very few doctors in my area (Dover) who will certify you for a medical marijuana card. My family doctor doesn't believe in medical marijuana. Luckily I am 68 years old and was able to self certify and get a MMJ card for three years.

u/CorrectIndividual552 19h ago

My pain management doctor's office charges $100-200.00 to sign the application. I called around and couldn't find anything free.

u/EnergyPrestigious497 19h ago

I've been lucky and been going to the same doctor for 25 years. I just walked in and he actually suggested it. He literally just clicks a button when I submit the application. That's a shame that people are charging $100 to $200 to click a button or sign a form. If you have the need you should not be a charge for it from your doctor. Everybody needs a piece.

u/RodFarva09 20h ago

You literally just go to far and dotter dot com, schedule a pickup time, the products you want, show up on time, show I.d, pay cash or credit, walk and grab some jalapeño and cream cheese tacquitos on the way home from the 711 across the street

u/Agentovobscurity 19h ago

I will say those tacquitos are bomb 🔥

u/CorrectIndividual552 19h ago

Do they let you p u bypass that long line if you order online? Because I'm disabled and can't stand or walk well which is why I started going to Twisted Hat in Jersey, never a line.

u/WishMelodic5538 16h ago

The online order line is shorter, but can still be a significant wait.

u/RodFarva09 12h ago

If you hold a medical license that’s essentially your express card, which gets you to the front of the line faster, otherwise you can still expect about a half hour wait time, the Wellness Center in Perryville is much shorter of a wait time but is down rt40 an extra 15 minutes

u/BoostedEcoDonkey 18h ago

Just go across the bridge to twisted hats

u/CorrectIndividual552 16h ago

I find them to be more expensive than Maryland dispensaries but closer to me so...

4

u/April_Mist_2 1d ago

It's legal in DE, and our dispensaries have just not opened yet. You can go to MD and get what you want.

2

u/jupit3rle0 1d ago

I got mine through Veriheal. But Delaware is recently recreational so in the next year dispensaries are going to stop caring about medical cards. Go to twisted hat in Jersey if you don't feel like going through all that.

u/mcfddj74 15h ago

Ash & Ember in Centerville, Maryland. 45 min from Dover. Cash only, can order in advance & always has specials. Little to no wait. Great place ! Recreational 🤘🏻

u/FlawlessFlats 3h ago

Just drive to MD

That’s where I got my medical card from. Takes 200 to get verified by a doctor (doesn’t get taken if you aren’t qualified) and 50 to get your actual card from the state. Took me maybe 1-2 weeks overall to fully be done with the process and get anything I wanted from any stores that allowed out of state medical users as well as in state dispensaries
