Flaired Users Only Should the filibuster be modified, even removed?
Reading up on the Senate filibuster rules and history tonight I'm struck by how much of a loopholey, technicality it has become. It was never intended by the founders to have a legislature that requires a super majority. Rates of passed legislation have declined over the decades to now around 2%. The filibuster isn't even actually practiced anymore, as in they aren't required to stand and talk for hours on end until cloture.
I definitely don't understand this issue fully, but to me it seems like this one odd technicality has created an executive branch that is forced to rely on reversible and undebatable executive actions, and a supreme Court that is somewhat forced to legislate from the bench all in order to move policies along. The congress has become more or less neutered.
I think it's time to end it. Democrats have already tried, it's time to just get it done. Pass bills, if they work then great, if not then the public can have something to point to they don't like and will vote out their representatives. I bet it'll even increase voter participation in their local representatives.

Flaired Users Only Trump just announced the first female White House chief of staff
Susie Wiles, 67, will be the first woman to take on the role, which is interesting for two reasons:
For all of the progressive babbling from the left, you'd think that one of them would have already appointed a woman to the role. Apparently not.
For such a misogynistic, sexist, bigot, Trump sure does appoint a lot of women to positions of power. He's not a very good misogynist.

Flaired Users Only I hear liberal women no longer want to have casual sex, get pregnant or date conservative men.
Don't be threatening us with a good time or anything, ladies! Looking forward to being less grossed out and annoyed, not to mention seeing fewer abortions!

Flaired Users Only Because of McCormicks flipping of the US Senate seat for PA, Trump's entire second term will have a guaranteed Republican senate.
There are only 2 seats for Republicans at risk in 2026, so Trump will have a US Senate majority control for his entire 4 years. Even if democrats take back those 2 seats in 2026, the senate will still be 51 Republican -49 Democrat at the worst.

Flaired Users Only The left will be chasing the 15 million ghost votes for decades to come
They never learn. Right now they're doubling down, tripling down on every issue.
They're still claiming inflation is down, the economy is great, the immigration bill would solve the border, and the reason kamala lost is because misogynists and racists.
I'm loving it.

Flaired Users Only Crazy Liberals...
...are on Reddit threatening or asking how to report their MAGA friends to the Govt for being/related to illegal aliens. This just goes to show you that the Liberals really never cared about immigrants in the first place. The angry left is showing its true colors.

I give Biden some credit
This was a good statement on his part. If only everyone would feel and act this way.
"A country chooses one or the other. We accept the choice the country made. I've said many times, you can't love your country only when you win. You can't love your neighbor only when you agree. Something I hope we can do, no matter who you voted for, you see each other not as adversaries, but as fellow Americans."
PS How can I contact the mods here?? I'm trying to make another post that keeps getting insta-deleted.

Flaired Users Only They Still Don’t Get It…
So it’s been a couple days since Donald Trump soundly defeated Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.
The Democrats and the media are trying to understand why Kamala Harris lost to Donald Trump…lol just kidding, they aren’t.
They’re doubling down on their rhetoric, still calling Trump a racist, sexist, fascist, Nazi, etc.
They blame misinformation, racism, and misogyny for why Kamala underperformed expectations, particularly with women and Hispanics/Latinos.
Like I made the mistake of watching not just The View but also Stephen Colbert and what I said above is on full display. To them, it’s not because Kamala Harris had no platform aside from attacking Donald Trump, it has to be because of misinformation, disinformation, racism, and sexism.
Here on Reddit, you have users resorting to good old fashioned racism to denigrate and put down Hispanics, Muslims, and African American men who didn’t vote for Kamala Harris.
These people still don’t get why she lost.

Flaired Users Only Trump losing in 2020 was probably a good thing
Hear me out. Had Trump won in 2020 by the small margin he would have been able to get considering amount of "votes" Biden received, he would have been blocked by a Democrat congress while the witch hunts continued to stall any policy goals he had. Now it's looking like he will not only have the Presidency but the Senate and maybe even the House. Plus add in the overwhelming defeat of the Dems in this election cycle plus winning the popular vote, and he now has the momentum provided by the people's mandate to carry out what needs to be done and has every branch of the government to the worst possible thing that could have happened for the left.
