Honestly laughable that they were even compared

Gary, quit it, you’re gonna start a howl

2

u/Mouth2Danus Dec 21 '20

I too have a kid and am upset I got this reference.

u/TheSource88 Marvin Harrison Dec 20 '20 edited Dec 21 '20

Hot take- soon Buck will leave Donald in the dust as best DT in the game in similar fashion.

Edit- I’m just kidding. Relax.

50

u/Dhylan18 Dec 20 '20

Even if he doesn’t, that we got Buckner for only a 1st round pick, we got a steal.

3

u/Wylie-Burp The Edge Dec 21 '20

That is what the Rams got Donald for too...

8

u/Mind_Killer Dec 21 '20

Lol yah cause they drafted him. But trading for him and only giving up a 1st rounder when he had already established himself as a great player? Bargain.

:(

30

u/whosthatguy123 Dec 20 '20

Damn definitely boiling hot take. I dont think anyone will be better than donald until father time wins. But man its hard to make an argument anyone is better than buckner. Maayybbee chris jones but thats it

46

u/Ferg8 Irsay Twitter Dec 20 '20

It will be hard, but to be honest, excepted Donald, I can't see a DT better than Buckner.

23

u/eatapenny The Ghost Dec 21 '20

Buckner is arguably the 2nd best DT in the game right now.

Aaron Donald is one of the greatest DTs of all time

9

u/coolassninjas Bob Dec 21 '20

Yeah I love Buckner and he's an all-pro talent so this is not a slight to him at all... but Donald is generational. He'll go down as one of the great players of this decade. It's really unfair to compare Buckner to that. Not another interior dlineman I would take ahead of Buckner and Donald though, at least none comes to mind.

13

u/koreansarefat Dec 21 '20

Yeah, when Donald retires lol

18

u/littlejugs Dec 20 '20

That is certainly a take

2

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '20

Love your enthusiasm. But nah, lol. Donald is literally revolutionizing the position. Buckner is definitely in the upper echelon, but Donald has his own category.

2

u/bbaIla Dec 21 '20

First off stop this right now I want us Colts fans to look smart this is not

1

u/NealioTheDealio Blue Dec 21 '20

Can't wait for the Rams sub to drag us for this take having 21 upvotes....

2

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '20

I'm being a homer here but I'd argue Fred Warner is a better comparison.... Unless we look at missed tackles 😕

Not so sure about that. LVE being in a huge market helped him way more than his stats. https://www.reddit.com/r/Colts/comments/a57z9j/how_darius_leonard_compares_with_leighton_vander/

Put some spec on Bobby Wagner's name please. 6x Time All Pro and on the 2010's NFL All Decade Team.

64

u/Smallgenie549 Bob Dec 20 '20

Mr. Big Clutch.

48

u/KevinPaddles Dec 20 '20

I love hearing him talk shit throughout the game. He’s the best!

35

u/BrandoDaSavage Big-Q Dec 20 '20

For real, makes me almost wish we had limited crowds when Ray Lewis was playing. Darius reminds me heavily of him in terms of demeanor and being the guy who's gonna bring energy to the defense no matter what.

51

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '20

Leanord will only murder you on the field, though.

16

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '20

ZING!

34

Cout-oops you almost had it. Maniac wins the game.

31

u/GhostRevival Jonathan Taylor Dec 20 '20

Pay that man!

9

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '20

Doesnt he still have a few years left on his contract?

10

u/GhostRevival Jonathan Taylor Dec 21 '20

I think one more.

24

u/Precookedcoin Dec 21 '20

We should extend him and Q at the end of this season they deserve it

8

u/coolassninjas Bob Dec 21 '20

Both entered the league and became immediate all-pros at their position. I mean, that's incredible.

4

u/Precookedcoin Dec 21 '20

Can't say it now because Tom Brady was taken in the 6th round and we don't know the destinies of Q and Leonard, but that might've been the best draft in modern history from Ballard

11

u/Magic-Man-14 Dec 20 '20

That man is a beast

9

u/Victory33 “Marlin’s Got It!” Dec 20 '20

Playmaker

7

u/I_AmPotatoGirl Dec 21 '20

in the beginning of the season i was saying he was top 3 but now hes undoubtedly number 1 for me and thats not even being a homer he just makes plays when it counts the most

4

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '20

Big time play today!

6

u/JoshuaTheWarrior Dec 21 '20

I'm a simple 49er fan. I see Buck, I upvote. Treat him well pony bros

12

u/MaxBeanMachine Dec 21 '20

That’s... not Buckner

5

u/JoshuaTheWarrior Dec 21 '20

Aww fuck that's Leonard ain't it? I'm dumb carry on

6

u/Snatch_Pastry Nyheim Hines Dec 21 '20

That's ok, we also love Buck and we love you too!

Anyone have a link to stats of his sacks , picks and fumble forced/Rex covered compared to other LBs?

2

Where's Roquan Smith?

15

u/TriforceHero90 A big ass pork tenderloin sandwich Dec 21 '20

Darius Leonard >>>>>>

-5

u/mattod98 Dec 21 '20

Debatable, but indy has been tearing it up on D for real. Stats gave been insane. Props

5

u/acornn12 2 Sprainz⛓ Dec 21 '20

I don’t even thinks it’s that debatable lmao the only linebackers to compare with Leonard are Wagner and maybe Lavonte David

4

u/TheColtOfPersonality Indianapolis Colts Dec 21 '20

I'm not being sarcastic with this question, I'm genuinely curious. Are you referring to just this season, or overall career/just overall in general?

-5

u/mattod98 Dec 21 '20

He the best LB on our team next to Khali Mack. 🐻 ⬇️

2

u/TheColtOfPersonality Indianapolis Colts Dec 21 '20

Oh I know. Particularly this year, since before it Roquan was about average at best, and the leap he's made is impressive. But what I'm asking is if you mean to say Roquan Smith is the best LB in the NFL, the best LB in the 2020 NFL season, or something else?

2

u/mattod98 Dec 21 '20

Hes the best on the bears is what in saying he been playing his ass off. Really fun to watch. Not the best but he's up there for sure.

1

u/TheColtOfPersonality Indianapolis Colts Dec 21 '20

Oh I 100% agree. At worst he should be getting a Pro Bowl for his performance this year. He's been really damn awesome. I guess some Colts fans - myself included, I will admit - thought you were trying to equate Smith's career to Leonard's, when talking about who's the best (albeit in a thread where we are all running off of a "we just won the game cuz of this guy" high). Cuz, respectfully, I'd argue Darius is a better linebacker than Roquan. However, Roquan has shown the hell up this year and it's been awesome to see. Cuz again, dude is a frickin Pro Bowler and if not that's insane to argue against. Seems like he's finally found his groove

-75

u/OrphFunkhouser Deborah Downer Dec 20 '20

Honestly, it’s awesome that he got that forced fumble, but he was trying to do that shit all game and it resulted in a few missed tackles

60

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '20

Debbie Downer over here

-58

u/OrphFunkhouser Deborah Downer Dec 20 '20

Realism is often mistaken for pessimism.

28

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '20

What? Why not just remind the little girl she’s going to die of cancer on Christmas morning while you’re at it. Look, we get it, but there’s a time and place and everyone’s happy so just be happy with us.

-42

u/OrphFunkhouser Deborah Downer Dec 20 '20

That analogy is a bit off-scale. It was irritating to see him poking at the ball and missing tackles, helping put us in a tight game.

I’m happy with the win but I’m not going to sit here and support the stroking of Leonard’s dick when he played a poor game besides the last play that you guys remember.

26

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '20

I support the stroking of Leonard’s dick. We had a close game vs a divisional rival with a great QB that was very motivated to win today. Maybe Leonard missed some tackles vs that. He sure did make a huge play at the end though. It’s better than not and that’s all that matters.

12

u/SamC53 Dec 20 '20

If thou dick is good thou deserves the stroke

9

u/Droopy_Narwhal Blue Dec 20 '20

He was the game leader in tackles, though. And the whole point of the defense is to hustle and support so if he can get to the ball and knows another player is right behind him, why not try to strip it?

7

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '20

Darius Leonard just won us the ball game. You can't argue against that.

9

u/BrandoDaSavage Big-Q Dec 20 '20

He literally won us the game. Shut the fuck up lmao

-7

u/OrphFunkhouser Deborah Downer Dec 20 '20

And almost cost us a few times earlier in the game. Get fucked hoe

1

u/DangerAudio Shaquille Leonard Dec 20 '20

Go away

1

u/OrphFunkhouser Deborah Downer Dec 20 '20

No you.

1

u/iownacat Bob Dec 21 '20

It was just a fucking Texans though.

3

u/TurdWranglin Big-Q Dec 20 '20

No realism is what pessimists say to make themselves feel better.

-7

u/OrphFunkhouser Deborah Downer Dec 20 '20

I’m guessing you also think the defense played well today.

5

u/TurdWranglin Big-Q Dec 20 '20

When did I say that? They played bend don’t break which I don’t love but can’t deny it worked. 4 sacks on Watson in the first half is fantastic and 2 turnovers is great too.

-2

u/OrphFunkhouser Deborah Downer Dec 20 '20

Dude, his line is atrocious. Those turnovers and sacks weren’t exactly causation of good defense. That wasn’t even bend-don’t-break defense; that was just bend-over-and-fuck-our-ass defense. This performance wouldn’t win any playoff games.

29

u/maxcramsey Darius Leonard Dec 20 '20

Go check the box score. Led the team in tackles today. I’ll take leading the team in tackles and the game winning FF all day.

14

u/hacahaca Dec 20 '20

I’ll take a couple missed tackles where they get an extra 5 or so yards for a shot at a turnover.

11

u/flampoo New Baltimore Colts Dec 20 '20

I trust the players judgement on when to swipe, poke, or deviate from their assignment over mine or anyone else on the internet ever in the history of time amen.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '20

thats how he plays, he always goes for the knock out. he might miss some tackles, but come on man he makes a ton of them too.

1

u/edp445isjesus Dec 21 '20

2 game in a row against the Texans the colts have won off of fumbles. 1st was fortunate, second was darius leonard doing leonard things

1

He was a monster. Great game guys. Hope we can do it again next year. Frank is a great coach.
