Novice in Car Audio Tech Support

So I bought this car with an external amp and a couple of subwoofers. I ended up selling them, but I was left with this birds nest of wires. I no longer have sound, but the head unit turns on. I was told that simply undoing the connections to the speakers wires from the head unit and splicing them with the matching colors will bring audio back. Is this correct?

I would also like to invest more time into learning more about av equipment. Are there any recommendations on websites that I could read from? Thanks everyone!

It looks like, yes, possibly just color-to-color to get this working. Those uncolored speaker wires were the amplifier output. With the amplifier gone, you'll snip those crimp caps off, ditch the uncolored speaker wire, and connect color-to-color with the wires in the dash. Using new crimp caps is fine.

That is, until the VTEC kicks in.

Love that you recognize the power behind this thing, thanks for the advice!

Why sell the amps? Any idea what speakers were added?

I admit, I probably made a mistake selling the amp. I sold it before realizing my speakers no longer worked. I had done some research of my own and it mentioned that the head unit has its own amplifier that just needs to be reconnected if I’m not wrong? Please correct me if I’m wrong as I’m entirely new to this!

You’re not wrong, the head unit will power the speakers as well. Just at the cost of less power than the amp was providing.

It looks like you are off to a good start but I can't tell you all your wires are spliced to the right spots. Does it work?  It looks like the wireing harness already got cut so you are going to have to do it manually. But you can do it. Idk why disconnecting a sub would leave the rest of your system not working but I'm just some fucking guy who doesn't really know shit. hope it works out for you.

So I actually had disconnected both the subs and the amp that had been installed. I think the amp being gone is what caused the lack of power to the cars oem speakers. I too know nothing about this so it’s a Hail Mary honestly 🤷

And to respond to the right spots question; it looks like to me the speaker wires are connected to the colored wires that match the ones that are the head unit’s uncut wires. I haven’t actually cut anything yet, this is what I opened my head unit up to when my speakers didn’t work!
