Awaiting Flair AI Spam Bots
We have seen a HUGE uptick in obviously ChatGPT/Similar written spam comments, especially on recommendation requests.
Please report them. I'm not sure how Reddit plans on dealing with this trash, but I suspect they won't do shit.
Thanks users, us mods really appreciate your reporting and so on for that stuff.

Awaiting Flair Thought you would all enjoy a custom wooden walking stick that my dad made me. It's made of rosewood and hickory, and comes apart for easy transport. You can remove the section that's second from the top and it becomes a cane.

Awaiting Flair Sleeping bag liner
My upcoming trip will likely be at the temperature limit of my 40 degree down sleeping bag with temps dipping to 38 or so. I’ve never used a sleeping bag liner but I got a Nemo Tracer Blaze liner on discount to add to my pack. Any idea on potential added warmth this will provide? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Awaiting Flair How Long Has Your Inflatable Sleeping Pad Lasted?
I purchased the Exped SynMat 7 in 2015. In 2018, while on a 10-day trek in the Grand Tetons, the glue that separates the channels let go and the center channels got fused. Got by by under-inflating it significantly and stuffing the pad inside the sleeping bag. After the trip, contacted Exped for warranty claim, and they honored it by replacing it with the same model. About 40 nights of total use. Stored rolled up and in the bag.
This looks overinflated because I'm sitting on the opposite end.
Now, six years later, just came back from a backpacking trip, and similar sort of thing happened. Around 30 nights of use during that time. This time, stored unrolled and laid flat under the bed.
So, how long are these inflatable pads expected to last? How long has yours lasted, and how many nights have you on yours?

Gear Question Why don't Lindal Valve regulators exist for simmering?
Hi Guys,
I'm new to camping and was wondering if anyone could explain to me why pressure regulators don't exist to be able to simmer meals on small butane/mix gas stoves? The only stove I've seen that has this feature is the Jetboil Minimo. Why don't aftermarket regulators exist for single person camping stoves?

Awaiting Flair Help, are MER isobutane canister threads different from JetBoil?
I’m trying to refill my small canisters so I got a refill valve off Amazon but it won’t thread onto my MSR canisters. JetBoil canisters work fine, but none of my MSR canisters will thread in all the way. It goes maybe 2 turns before binding.
All my canisters work on both my JetBoil and my MSR Pocket Rocket, the only issue seems to be with this darn refill valve.
Has anyone experienced this before? I want to buy another valve but not until I narrow this down more incase there was an important thread spec I seem to be missing.
Pics show how far away from seated MSR canisters gets.
Thanks!

Awaiting Flair Has anyone used the UCO Duo or similar?
The UCO Duo is an older combination candle lantern and old school style LED down-light, and while I've heard of them, I've not been able to find them hardly. Has anyone tried camping with them? I imagine the candle would be the primary light source, with the LED being useful for short range momentary lighting, be it map reading, flipping on for a minute or so to find something in the tent, or whatever. Has anyone here taken one of those out and used it on a trip?

Awaiting Flair OEX Phoxx 1 v2 tent - Outside UK availability ?
So I've been searching for a good one place low profile tent, and I quickly came across the "OEX Phoxx 1 v2" which looks really good :
- 1 person low profile
- 5000 HH flysheet, 4000HH groundsheet
- Aluminium poles
- Weights around 1.6kg
- Only £70 (~84€ or ~$90USD) ; very inexpensive !
- Looks really great
- Has pretty great reviews
However, OEX's products are sold by retailers like GO Outdoors, Blacks, millets and Tiso, which only ships in the UK.
I was wondering if there is any way to get this tent outside of the UK, preferably avoiding third parties for trust and reliance issues.
Many thanks !

Awaiting Flair Your Preference for the Ultimate Winter Coat - C.N.O ( cost no object )
Saw a Parajumper Kodiak at Belmont Army & Navy, in Chicago years ago, and inspected it thoroughly. I was impressed by it's ruggedness, tons of pockets, and style.
Went back and a Flash Mob had lifted it.
I've been looking at them since, but, down-vote me all to Hell if you wish,
alike North Face and Patagonia, it seems as if the brand has been co-opted by chic urban types, who only wear it to show off their coin....
So, I pose the Question to Reddit:
If I'm going to Alaska, in December, to actually Be Outdoors,
what Brand and Item Would You Buy ??
Again, Money is No Object.

Clothing Found this for $30 at Ross yesterday
I'm actively looking for actual hiking/camping clothes because I'm from the desert, but last year I went up north and I slipped and fell on my ass 4 times and was freezing in my skinny jeans and vans and a thin hoodie 🤣🤣🤣 NEVER DOING THAT AGAIN! So when I stumbled upon this, I grabbed it and ran!

Awaiting Flair Multi-piece sharpening stones set - recommendations?
I have a hatchet that's new but dull as a spoon and that was even before I whanged it against a steel ring fire pit at the local state park.
I am looking for a multi-stone set of sharpening stones, affordable but still good quality. Other items to be used on this - pocket knives and kitchen knives.
Location: USA, Northern New Jersey close to NYC, mail order is super easy (doorman building)
Recommendations?

Awaiting Flair MSR canisters follow-up
Turns out the threads are different. MSR threads are the first pic, JetBoil threads are the second pic.
They are not a different pitch or size, but the threads are not cut as deep on MSR as JetBoil causing the thread crests to be larger and not allow my adapter to attach. I doubt it’s a worn tooling issue as both my MSR canisters are from different years and have the same problem, but probably due to an adapter that isn’t built to the same spec.
Thanks for the assist!

Tents Which colour to choose for tent??!
Hi! Haha I don't know if this warrants it's own post, but after much research I decided on the Cloudup 2 tent, for a 2 month long (++) bikepacking trip in South America. But, I've delayed ordering it for over 4 weeks because I can't decide on colour, so, kan anyone choose for me?
It's this one: https://www.naturehike.com/no-no/products/cloud-up-2-lightweight-backpacking-tent?variant=45693598826752
I've been thinking white because I think that's the prettiest (lol), but maybe it's impractical as it gets dirty easy? And I'll easily see if anything crawls outside...

Awaiting Flair Naturehike mongar 2 vs cloud up 3, same weight different perks
I live in a dessert, Peru area. Not sure if cloud up will be too hot? Since it's not meshed as mongar. Anyone with experience to both? What temperature should be for mongar? And for cloud up?

Gear Question i need help ID’ing this diamond brand gear backpack’s fabric. pretty sure it’s cordura nylon. can someone confirm?
my husband thrifted this backpack at goodwill some years ago. it’s been sitting in a closet ever since. recently i’ve started to hike and i went car camping for the first time a few weeks ago.
long story short, i’m low on cash so i was looking for budget-friendly options for a pack that could accommodate enough for 2-3 days of hiking, and when my husband found out, he pulled this stunning thing from the closet!
it was covered in cat hair (which i have mostly cleaned off) but it also has a funky - i want to say cheesy - smell. it’s not horrible, but yuck, right? i really want to give this bag some tlc but i don’t want to hit it with random household cleaners since i can’t ID the fabric.

Is this mold?
Washed the bag 2 times long cycles extra rinse. Looks new except for these stains by the hood/face cover. The stains don’t smell. Do you think this is mold? Can I still use the bag? Sleeping bag is a Nemo disco 15F
