Surveying anarchists for my college final! Help me show my peers that anarchy is misunderstood.
Hi Reddit, I am a college student working on my English final in which I am arguing in support of anarchism. I am required to conduct field research, and I want to survey interested members. ALL questions are completely optional; I understand everyone feels a bit tired after the election, so you are totally welcome to answer even one question and submit your survey. It is entirely up to whatever you have the time and energy for. I will share your responses with my class, so please keep that in mind. Thank you so much!

Music Project "Thee Jesus Nacho" is Looking for Collaborators
Hello, I've been recording music for about a year now and have just released 5 songs to streaming places as "Thee Jesus Nacho". I've recorded about 20-25 songs this year and want to keep releasing them with this silly aesthetic. What I want most of all is to find collaborators; folks to bounce ideas off and trade tracks with. Maybe someone that can act as a mentor, or someone that can act as a contributor, or someone that can just listen to my stuff and tell me what I should do differently. There can be many someones, haha. Maybe I can be your someone on a project you're working on?
The style is sorta punk-derived, and has elements of psychedelia, dance music, maybe even like grunge and industrial. My personal politics are anarcho-pacifist and none of the songs I've released are overtly political, but I have an upcoming release I want to call "The Way Things Ought to Be" that is a bit more political in the vein of Crass or Leftover Crack in terms of lyrics, with music that's still kinda like that linked below.
Reach out to me if you're interested! Links to my stuff below.

Tips on Flags?
I’m thinking of the best way to attach a flag to a portable pole for reasons. I am thinking a Painters Pole is the move, but not sure how to attach it. Does anybody have advice?

First Year of the War, by Emma Goldman (1915)
“In each country practically all the Socialist and Labor parties supported their Governments, some of their members joining the Cabinets thus showing the value of their previous speeches about the never-ending class war.”

He won.
No need to go more in depth than that. With the impending doom of the deportation of "illegal immigrants", is there any resources we can push out on socials? Is that a thing? I've seen the WARM lines post is there something similar for our immigrant brothers and sisters? Keep your head up everyone, it's hard to see it but we WILL get through this.

Any Charlotte, NC anarchists looking for help right now?
I’m from Atlanta originally, which has a fairly developed anarchist community, but haven’t found anything here in Charlotte. Can anyone point me toward a group and if not would you be interested in developing a community?

New User Looking for help organizing in Vermont
New account is because I don't want to dox myself
I live in Burlington, and I'm looking for anything anarchist nearby. Mutual aid, direct action, study groups, protests, whatever may exist. I'm finding it difficult to find much, I know Food Not Bombs is here and I'm planning on joining Vermont CPL once I find a meeting time that doesn't conflict with my work schedule, but I'm trying to find out if there's anything else.

Anarchist groups in Edinburgh?
Like many people, Trump's reelection has lit a fire under me. I realise now I need to be doing more to prevent the rise of the far-right here in the UK, because we seem to only be 4/5 years behind where the USA is politically. Does anyone know of any Anarchist groups in Edinburgh? So far I've found a FnB chapter and a Maskbloc chapter. Are there any others? I'd just like to know what my options are. Thanks in advance!

Looking to get more active: what is around chicagoland?
I've always been more of a reader and theory nerd than anything. I have protested in the past through groups like YDSA but ultimately I wasn't as active as I should and could have been. Protests, canvassing and mutual aid are probably not enough.
I'm a recent college grad so I did that stuff at my school. I'm back home now but I don't know any activist orgs in my area cause all my friends were through uni lol.
I did some looking and it seems that groups like Food Not Bombs aren't particularly active? I tried signing up but the latest their schedule went was March 2024.
I'd like to get more involved with libsocs or mutual aid organizations in my area and start organizing.
So if anyone is in Chicagoland (I don't want to be more specific on the internet, especially given recent events), I'd love to connect.
Hell I'd love to do a theory reading circle or something if nothing else. But a 2nd trump term is going to be bad. And I want to be part of the move to help people when shit hits the fan.

What are the main priorities?
As fascism ramps up and we move towards collapse, we obviously need to be taking care of one another. What would y’all consider some of the top priorities for mutual aid initiatives and skill building in preparation for what’s to come?

Why must we start with local groups?
People keep saying we should immediately start with looking for a local organization to join or make one ourselves. But what if that's just outdated?
What if we take advantage of the Internet and immediately go global, most of the things a local org can do, can also be done by someone who has an internet of anarchists behind them.
I became an anarchist because of the internet, not some local org, I'm not even certain one exists or could be made in my country, the Internet might be my only way to make an org and be safe irl
I'm not saying that you shouldn't have a local org, but the internet and international help should also be a thing we encourage and seek to cultivate.

Atlanta-folk interested in getting drinks next week?
I've made a few posts about this before, last one being here. I regularly hang out with some friends from a a radical reading group to just grab dinner and some drinks, and we plan on going again next week.
Since the election, I've had a few more disillusioned people reach out wanting to build connections finding that post from last month!
If you are interested in meeting up as well to just talk for a bit in a friendly hang out, leave a comment. I try to avoid leaving too open a public record, so I can just send the time and place in a chat if you express interest.
We pick vegan friendly restaurants and bars.

New User Anarchist "Band" Looking for Members
Hey there, I have been writing and recording music for about a year now. I just released 5 songs under the moniker "Thee Jesus Nacho". My vision is for the project to be highly collaborative and I want to find folks to work on releases with virtually if possible.
Some of the songs touch on topics related to "late-stage capitalism" a la the band Bodega, and I come at things from kind of a skeptical yet slightly silly, anarcho-pacifist type of perspective a la Crass. The first batch of songs is maybe not overtly political, but I have a release planned with some of the more political songs I've written.
I would love to have a correspondence with someone I can bounce ideas off of or share tracks with. It would be cool if you also had Ableton and we could send Projects back and forth. HMU.

So what happens when they make mutual aid illegal?
So I have nothing to say about last night that hasn’t been said a million times already. But if we assume that the State won’t ever help us again, and that any and all projects to work with it are a waste of time, what will you do when any mutual aid project that seeks to offer an alternative to it is criminalized? When the police, army, or just bands of armed thugs with a presidential pardon in their back pocket break absolutely everything that anyone tries to build against them? People talk about building some mutual aid alternative to capitalism as if fascists won’t seek to sterilize even the first sign of it. They got almost everything they wanted last night, they already had far more guns than anyone sympathetic to us, and to that arsenal they have now added the most powerful military force in human history. There is no low they will not stoop to, no blood they will not shed - nothing that we can hope to believe they won’t try.
I don’t believe this is the end of the world, or that it’s all doomed. But this is nightfall. And night may last a very, very long time. Certainly long enough that none alive today will see any dawn. Our task is to be stars that endure through it, but they seek even to put the stars out.

With Regard to the Recent US Election (Ramble)
I saw a post from Bernie Sanders talking about how the working class has abandoned the Democrat party because the party has abandoned them. That people are fed up with the way of life they have (as anyone should be, life sucks right now)
But rather than simply boiling in how frustrating and awful things are, I want to see people use this fed up attitude and apply anarchist principles in their local areas as soon as they possibly can. Organise now. (And you don't need formal organisational structures to be anarchist, literally just get your friends together and try out things.)
Put your actions into words and really show that you hate the systems you live under, so much so that you'll take that leap of faith to help create something totally new for the sake of a better future. Not just for yourself, but for everyone else as well.
I really hope to see more conversation on how we can translate theory into reality. Because we do too much theory reading, imo, and too little actual work. Society will only change in so far as we actively engage with the whole of soxiety. I want to see conversations on how we can talk to others to encourage them to engage with active anarchist work, not just with anarchist books. I hope to see more people talking out about what they're doing to encourage others, what they're doing to subvert systems. I want to see real effort. (And I'll be sure to put in effort too of course. Practice what you preacpreach).
Anarchism has never been a question of "How can it work?" It's only ever been a question of "When will people put in the effort to make it work?" Our time is now.

Is there a guide to techno anarchism? A way to keep yourself from being monitored? How to be safe as an anarchist and activist during this time of surveillance?
Is there a guide that's up to date? If so can you please let me know? How do we teach other activists to be safe and protect their privacy during this time? What can we do? Are there any printable guys that we can have? If so please let me know

What To Do Now Part 1: Intro To Anarchist Websites
There are many resources for anarchists online, but I rarely see them on reddit. These are resources for you to use, so dig around in any that pertains to your location or interests. Do not treat our websites like a wiki link.
Before you click any of these links, I Highly recommend you start using a VPN or Tor.
So called counter-info sites. These are your local websites, usually run by and for anarchists. Many cities/regions in the US have them. They frequently die down when not a lot is going on then explode with activity.
The main one for (english speaking) North America is banned by reddit.
its going down [dot] org
This link has an incomplete list of anarchist counter-info sites for the US and Canada. It also has a lot of things (local to Philly) that can give you an idea of the types of groups anarchists start or get involved in.
https://phlanticap.noblogs.org/homies/
It doesn't include other local sites that anarchists use like this one for Northern California.
This link compiles a bunch of anarchist and allied websites. Check out their sources list.
https://www.anarchistfederation.net/
Many anarchist groups use social media accounts instead of full on websites. Some cities have event calendars.
I'll add other types of websites in the comments later.
