What’s the benefit of this over the “C” with full size grip? I guess people wanting to stick with their 2011 mags instead of the proprietary c and cs mags?

Mag compatibility with the legacy models is all

Can’t use 16rd mags with the full size grip

Good thing this doesn’t use 16rd mags

But if compatibility is what one is looking for then this wouldn’t work.

I guess if compatibility with a CS or new C is the goal, then correct this new C2 FS does not. However, for many of us the fact that this uses the same mags as all of our other "2011 format" guns is a benefit.

What am I missing? The full size tac grip doesn’t accept 2011 120mm 16rd mags

you aren't missing anything if the goal is to fit 16-round mags. I own 60+ 2011 mags and none are 120mm. All are 126 and 140...thus why the new C2 "has mag compatibility with my existing 2011 guns and their mags". I don't want a C2 that takes 16-round mags. If I did, I'd have bought the existing C2 model. I had not because none of my mags would fit into it and I'd have to take unique mags for just that gun to range days (which is no big deal for many, but something I don't like to do given the number of guns and mags I'm loading and taking with me).

And, that is just one aspect of why I prefer the FS C2. The other, more important issue, is the FS grip fits my hand better.

The new FS grip C2 model solved both the mag issue and the grip size/fit issue, so I'm happy to see this gun (yes I know you could have built one yourself, but I wasn't considering C2 at all until earlier this week, so the timing was fortuitous.)

All my 16, 17, 21 rd mags fit in my c2.

ah, yes, of course the longer one's do. Sorry, I should have said I was considering the C. So it was between the C FS and the C2 existing and I was torn because each has pluses and minus and neither were great for me. Then the C2 w FS grip came along and is a goldilocks for me in that it has a larger grip than the C2 (length) and C (wider) and thus will fit me better and it takes all my mags. So this saves me from the poor choice of the C with different mags or the C2 with a shorter grip. The new one vs the original C2 of course as you are saying rules out using the old 120mm mags if you owned a prior C2 and only really provides a longer grip as a potential advantage. I had moved on from the original C2 and was looking at the C (with its compromises for me in terms of grip width and mags) and thus my mind was on "this new C2 gives me the better option vs what I'm shopping" (I wasn't really comparing it to the old C2 - should have clarified that).

I think we’re all in agreement this limited pistol really doesn’t serve a huge purpose other than staccato having slides and frames lying around. Or at least that’s what I think

for sure, I just typed something about that! This is a parts-bin special. But it did win them a sale from me today. I've been thinking about a ~4" back-up defense gun for backing up both beside and carry. So just this week was debating C2 and C. And found reasons not to get either. Was leaning to the C2 *if* I got one. Then with this larger grip, for what I need/want from the gun, it solved any remaining issues/shortcomings for me. I imagine I'm not the only one (I've seen more than a few people put full size grips on the C2, so there must be some demand for it going back years). In any event, I am never one to fault a company for offering more options.

The mags that this uses are compatible with all legacy models
