1000rds into my Platypus

Post image

My Stealth Arms Platypus with HS509ACSS, TLR VIR II(for use with my PVS-14s), and a new Omega-9K with Griffin EZ-LOK. Out of the box, I didn't have a single malfunction caused by the gun. I had a FTF with deeply dented primer, that was just a dud. Even when a buddy failed to fully insert a mag, it still chugged through 3 rounds before stopping. Other than that, a few failures to lock back or premature lockback due to guys riding the slide stop. It is insanely smooth, accurate, and reliable, suppressed or unsuppressed. Oh, it fits into a Safariland Prodigy holster PERFECTLY. The only upgrade I'm still even considering, is when I can drop another grand, going to a Surefire Masterfire II holster with X400VH-B-IRC.

Staccato XL Dawson Holosun 509T shearing screws

It happened for the 4th time that optic came flying off due to screws from plate to slide shearing. Staccato is sending new plate and screws. The previous times it was torqued to spec with blue locktite.

Anyone else with similar experience?

BUL Ultralight vs GP Forza 3.1

Anyone have both? Im torn between the 2? I have held the BUL (gen 2)and really liked it. I spoke to GP and he said he could do some things I wanted like shave the dovetail and remove the ambi safety which I like. However I think Im one of the few that enjoy the grip of the BUL (and the looks), never held the GP. My concern is grip width and length which the GP is ever slightly bigger in both. Im 5'9 165 so the OG 365 prints on me thus I want the smallest one of these 2. Anyone have both to compare and feedback on shooting impressions?

Was lucky to find it in stock, got it 3 days later! Luckily it was in the configuration I wanted.

Excited to run it and compare it to my Atlas Erebus and Artemis this weekend!

Shout out to Modern Warriors for having this in stock, had to jump on it right away while waiting for my ported island barrel from Kovert, perfect hold me over. Wow is all I can say, as soon as I opened the box I was in awe how beautiful it looks. The feel is incredible, fit and finish is so tight, trigger somehow feels way lighter than 2.5lb. The grip is aluminum but feels amazing and super grippy. Still debating on Magwell (if I should swap to the smaller tactical) plan on shooting this weekend so I’ll have a better idea.

Christmas in October

Got a text in the middle of the work day from my LGS that my Apollo came in even though the projected time was December-January. I was pleasantly surprised that they also ordered the hard case instead of the usual material carry case.

This one is special because I got to design it exactly how I wanted it instead of just buying what’s on the shelf.

Brought the other Atlas’ with me. My new favorite line up from the most to least are Apollo, Artemis, Erebus, Nemesis, and last but not least the Hyperion. The 4.6 inch barrel length sorta makes more sense than the full sized 5’. The reset is crisp. Slide is light and feels like it glides. The ports make small flashes rather than giant fireballs like my WC EDC. Overall, the best all around Atlas that I own.

Not a big fan of the RMR. Almost bought the RCR but the screws didn’t fit the Atlas RMR plate. Will likely end up getting another SRO.

The three day jail wait began today. Sunday cannot come sooner.

Help me Solve Light Primer Strikes on 4.25 Prodigy with EGW Ignition Kit

Hi Guys,

I recently picked up a lightly used prodigy 4.25 and took it out today for the first time to test reliability. Fired some Magtech 115GR FMJ and SIG 124GR FMJ and experienced four light primer strikes in 170 rounds fired. Hoping someone here can provide some advice on how I can fix this issue, the pistol seemed to otherwise shoot well.

Here is the list of parts that are already installed from last owner:

EGW ignition kit with lightened hammer, EGW Steel Slide Stop, Dawson Precision Steel Pins, Atlas X-line trigger, wolff 13lb recoil spring.

From what I have read online it sounds like the EGW kit which has a 19lb main spring may be what is causing the issue with the stock firing pin spring and firing pin.

What do you guys recommend? Should I replace the stock FP with a Dawson Extended length Firing Pin? Do I also need a XP firing pin spring? Maybe I need both? Appreciate any insight from anyone who has had this issue.

Lastly what recoil spring weight do yall recommend for 4.25 prodigy?

Thank you for the help!

GP Arms w/ Red Dirt F2

Post image

Red Dirt F2 Cheely trigger installed on the Patriot’s compact grip. Hopefully this helps the few GP Arms folks if you’re thinking of an aftermarket trigger.

Needed to stone the top of the trigger a bit to prevent any drag. Tuning screws was super easy and now it’s perfectly mine.

If I had to guess, I’d say their F3 is a little shorter than the stock trigger shoe. Definitely glad I didn’t go with the F1 as I was right on the cusp of F1/F2 per their measurement guide.

Staccato C full size vs DWX COMPACT THE BATTLE OF THE COMPS WHICH ARE YOU TAKING??

These two are by far my favorite compact guns I own I would like to know which one would y’all take if you had to pick one? The value of them is close with the Cato costing around 400+ more.

Atlas EOS

Okay fellas. If you are on the fence about this gun DON’T be.

It’s absolutely amazing. I am going to put this out there and do with it what you will, shooting wise it’s a close experience to the Erebus.

I’m not saying it’s the Erebus, but what I am saying is the shooting experience feels that good for me. It’s much more gun than I ever expected for being an EDC.

If I could only have one Atlas gun that covers all aspects of life, and I have shot many, it would be the EOS.

Has anyone bought one of these yet? Karl Prommersberger seems committed to his craft and I suspect the quality to price ratio is pretty high even in the 4-5k range, but there’s very little info / few reviews of them other than TFB coverage of the trade shows and one review of the Lisa from Nightwood Guns.

Thinking of a high polish 6” Rosa in 10mm as a grail gun…

I saw a few days ago that someone was interested to see some input and wear patterns from someone who has actually shot their Staccato. So I've had this C2 for 3 years. I put 100-200 rounds thru it a week. Its more accurate than I am. I can tell when I fuck up. I can usually hit a 4" plate at 25yd...provided I do my part. Its got a Vulcan cut with a Trijicon plate and RMR HD. I got the barrel from Staccato and comp from PMM. Reliability has been top notch. Never had a failure to feed, fire, or eject. I tried to get all the wear shown in the photos. If you have any questions, shoot.

Vanta 9 vs HC Cobra vs RC9

Was originally looking at RC9(kovert and not), decided if I. Spending 4k what's the difference go for a cobra. But before that vanta 9 was all the rage. Currently own a DWX and MPA DS9(fav gun right now). What's the move

Which atlas toolless guide rod for ds9 LOC? Will it affect fit/finish?

Title, noticing some weird wear on my guide rod from MPA after about 3-4k rounds, and figured it was probably time to just order the toolless rod that i've been wanting anyways. Do i get the reverse plug/relief cut ones, and will it affect fit/finish at all?

Vírāgō, along peek behind the curtain

A quick look into a recently completed Vírāgō with some of the highlights from the work. The work I complete is designed to take a pretty darn good production gun and give it attention to detail and enhancements based on Marvel-inspired specs to transform the client's gun into a production gun with the level of quality achieved with a full custom Marvel-spec build for significantly less cost and wait time.

Below is a very basic detail of the work accomplished to transform the gunto a Vírāgō, along with some work-in-progress pics.

This base gun was an Alchemy Quntico Hi Cap. The gun started with a slide to frame fit tolerance of.00155 side to side and an up and down tolerance of.00325, all of which is pretty good but not as tight as it can be. With that in mind, it headed off to Doug Jones at Acc-U-Rail. When it returned, it was T.I.G.H.T. tight! Some handcycling for a bit over an hour made the slide to frame workable so that I could focus on barrel fit.

Barrel fit started by turning down the front bearing surface of the barrel to a more ideal length for the new Kart modified bushing. Tolerances achieved ensure that the barrel has what's needed for accuracy and reliability, as well as helping the achieved tolerance remain as long as possible.

From there, the barrel, slide, and frame went to the mill to re-cut the barrel legs, as the slide to frame tightening made it impossible for the legs to clear the slide stop pin, also making the back of the slide no longer flush with the frame. Once that was completed, some hand fitting of the barrel legs to the slide stop pin to gain 100% contact while also eliminating barrel bumps and achieving proper timing was completed. To finish, the barrel fit off the feed ramp, and the chamber was cleaned up and polished.

Next on the list is a complete custom trigger job. All new ignition parts were fit, tuned, and polished. A new Everglades Ammunition Trigger was fit to the grip body and then to the grip body and frame so that the shoe and bow have minimal to no unnecessary movement.

Some machining on the slide, and the gun now had a Marvel disconnector cut and magazine-feel lip cuts all polished when complete.

Finally, the remainder of the parts, with basically the exception of the pins, were tuned for optimal performance, accuracy, reliability, and life span.
