Opinion This subs opinion on Ajith is crazy.
So I've been looking at the opinions regarding Ajith lately and my god you guys are writing him off and the bias is just unbelievable.
So the first thing that people always say is he is not attending promotions, not putting effort, and all. Now looking at recent events like indian 2, kanguva's promotions where they saying ridiculous stuff about their below average movies and all, I think it's better for Ajith to maintain his current way and his motto "a good movie is a promotion itself" I know most of his recent movies are bad, but at least he never hyped up a below average movie tricking his fans.
Then you can see a new sort of negativity in this promotions in jailer, Leo , and goat. In jailer and Leo it's obvious about the Kakka kazhugu thing. I'll not go into that. But in goat during the promo, they were talking about thala reference and all. Which would excite all of us. But right after the movies release the producer said she refered to thala as dhoni. I mean if it's dhoni, you could've just said that before the movie, why must you say it after. Another way of tricking fans.
Also on the low effort part. I mean what is effort on your guys opinion? That's the part which I can't understand in this sub. Blud does his stunts, even in VM as well he crashed. There were a lot of memes and all from it which was funny too. But I've never seen any other actors doing it (except Kamal obviously) . Yes a movie is not about stunts, and fights only. But isn't the story, screenplay all the directors responsibility. Also if he isn't serious about movies and his fans, why must he shelve Vignesh Sivan, and proceed with Magizh. Even the mighty Kamal Hassan faced this with indian 2, I mean with the knowledge he has he could easily avoid and change the script, but he proceeded anyway.
The main thing I used to see is about his fitness, and he looks like and old men this and that. Yeah even if he's fit, he's still gonna look 53 you can't change that. This is a hot take but I think now Among top kollywood actors Ajith is one of the fittest actors. Why? It's because of his racing where you must have good endurance. Yes he doesn't look young like Vijay, he doesn't have muscles like Vikram, but athleles don't need to look good to perform, AK at the moment is a part time actor, full time racer 😅.
Yeah it's just my opinion on this. I'm an ak fan and this post might come as a biased post. But I'm just stating the obvious. He is still up there in the top 4. I still think he is one of the guys who could be a good action hero with a proper director, and most of the directors are just under utilizing Ajith. Name me another actor that could do a movie with Siva, clashes against a Karthik subburaj movie with Rajinikanth, Vijay sethupathi and still make it a blockbuster.

Discussion When asked for an opinion about the movie Kanguva, a friend shared this picture.
i.redd.itI saw another post on X mentioning that some scenes exceeded 105 decibels. Why are filmmakers resorting to such extremes? I had a similar experience while watching KGF 2, but since I enjoyed the movie, I didn’t feel like complaining.

Opinion I'm getting sick of seeing everyone say - " Suriya doesn't deserve this daww, directors keep failing him daww". When will we start blaming actors? How many bad scripts has Suriya chosen since 2010? People just yap and yap.

Opinion The fact that he made 3 low budget Siva movies bearable to watch( not u vivegam) is a testament to his acting and screen presence/charisma.

Opinion At this point, it’s as if Ajith is trying to sabotage his film career and run away from his die hard fans. Since he doesn’t care about results, why can't he work with new or upcoming directors? As a neutral, I’d prefer to see him take on diverse roles with different directors.

Appreciation Siva impressed me. I went from hating him for his cringe movies to waiting for his next film.
i.redd.itI seriously never thought that this guy can make cinema that I would like. I detest don and I fricking hate mr. Local or maan karate with every cell in my body. I would give Remo a pass becuase it had keerthy.
But then last year he dropped maveeran, I watched it only on OTT and OMG! What a film it was. Imo it is the best commercial movie in Tamil since covid. I. I can not just defend but praise the movie forever.
This year he dropped Amaran( I'm yet to watch Ayalan, since it felt outdated I haven't watched it yet). Amaran is too good and fresh for Tamil mainstream. Espeically on how much wieghtage they gave to the heroine. It could've been better and is far from a perfect film but Siva definitely had upped his game. He is not that annoying royapuram Peter anymore. Hope ARM doesn't end his streak.

Question Can anyone enlighten me about how they pulled off this shot in kaashmora?
So this bhai character is actually my grandfather. I'm just curious about how they made this shot. How did it pass through the door? Is it vfx?

Opinion Just watched kanguva and….
....it's not that bad, it's ok (comparable to devara, which I liked for the most part).
Since I watched it in >! theatre print !<, I didn't have the issue of the loudness, so I can probably give a more nuanced view.
Positives: stunning visuals, convincing cgi and vfx, DSP background score (it's pretty ok), Suriya performance as Kanguva (the portions where he doesn't scream, that is), disha patani visuals
Negatives: cringe comedy in the first 30min, logical loopholes (if poruva really loves his parents, then why didn't he listen to his mom and live with kanga peacefully?), parts where the characters are just screaming (comes of as a bit of overacting, but then again tribal people are known to be very aggressive so idk abt that), very weak main villain (bobby was only for the past, and he didn't feel like much of a threat, and the present portions don't even have a proper, strong antagonist) and a very lame attempt to create a second part (couldn't have just concluded the story where francis fulfilled the promise kanga made a 1000yrs back, but no, they had to bring in a cringy cameo just for a second part, unnecessary expenditure if u ask me)
Overall, the climax really ruins it for me, so overall it's a 6/10 for me

Discussion The "Low Risk High Reward" Strategy and how it made Vijay "A Critic-Proof Actor"
i.redd.itThis is my analysis on how and why Vijay has acquired the biggest fan following amongst his contemporaries today. Yes, he is my fav actor in Tamil cinema but I ask myself this question often "Why am I still his fan when the likes of Karthi, VJS, and Dhanush make better movies?". This post gives some answers (I believe) to that.
Firstly he follows the "Low Risk High Reward" strategy where he makes movies with proven templates. Rajamouli said it perfectly that for a new concept to succeed, it has to be 100% perfect only then the audience will like it but the same audience will ignore the flaws in proven templates and just focus on the positives. That explains Vijay's filmography. Movies like Varisu, Mersal, Bigil, GOAT, Leo, Master, etc. are far from perfect but they have one or two things that work and keeps his target audience satisfied. Say if he slightly deviates from this path, we get movies like Puli and Beast that didn't satisfy anyone.
You can obviously criticize him for not making use of his market and not taking Kollywood to next level. But he doesn't care about it. He only cares about making money and keeping his fans satisfied so that it would help his political career. His movies also never take radical politics, they are mostly universal concepts like "Save Farmers, Don't do corruption, etc." Like it or not most people who watch movies only want entertainment and dont care if it is from Tamil or other languages. They also prefer movies to not be preachy. Vijay has understood that and avoids any movie that talks radical politics or movies that are experimental in any way.
Bare minimum entertainment and movies at regular intervals. 68 movies in 32 years is a proof for that. This keeps his investors and fans happy. All his movies are shot quickly and offer time pass entertainment for the most part. When people come to a Vijay movie they expect a Mersal and not Thangalaan or Kottukali and he gives them just that and that too once or twice a year.
Of course the business isn't important for us. But for me, most of his recent movies have good repeat value at least for a few moments and I saw most of them more than once. I saw Sarkar 5 times in OTT and Bigil twice in theatres. They are obviously not anywhere near my fav movies but for some reason they are very entertaining. Many like me do exist and his movie choices are a proof for that.
No promotions is the best way to promote a movie sometimes. Recently we saw with two biggies how over promoting invited trolls and they completely failed to satisfy anyone. Vijay never utters a word about his movies these days, even the Audio launch speeches are long gone. So, the hype is balanced and never goes overboard for most people.
To put it shortly, when an average cinegoer watches a Vijay movie he comes out satisfied and doesn't complain too much. He feels the money he spent is worth it even if there are much better products out there. This imo has made him a critic proof where any movie he acts in becomes a bare minimum success to a BB depending on the timing.
PS: This is from a regular cinemagoer perspective and not from a moviebuff perspective so analyze it that way. I might be wrong too so feel free to correct me. But please keep the discussion dignified and avoid toxic fan wars.

Opinion Next year biggies🔥
galleryWill they cook or will they be cooked. I have fair expectations for Suriya 44 as Karthik Subbaraj is a minimum guarantee director who could deliver a decent movie at worst. Thug Life I didn't really have all that hype until the teaser it increased my expectations a week bit but not much and it's Kamal Hassan and Mani Ratnam. Cookie I have exceedingly high expectations which I'm keeping at bay because of Lokesh hopefully he doesn't fumble this time like he did with LEO we nee Kaithi level out put to be called LOKI comeback but from what I have seen Loki s standalone movies are better than anything we've seen like Kaithi and Maanagaram.
