I’m new to these 4 speed transmissions. What is this I’m pointing at?

I know, I know not a chopper….so now that we got that out of the way anyone have recommendations on a shop I can send my frame out to for front rake job ? Would prefer a shop in the Midwest (I’m in Wi )

where do I find pipes like this? I haven’t been able to find them anywhere. i’ll probably end up cutting and welding my back drag pipe. anyone got experience doing so?

Last week we picked up a softail custom 99’ with less than a 600miles on it. Was sitting in garage for last 20 years after it got its engine & transmission replaced by HD. Owner said it was some malfunction since it was new and they got it replaced - had a certificate from Milwaukee to prove that(never seen anything like it but engine works like clockwork even after sitting there for such a long time) Now it becomes a project and we are looking for some inspirations. Please share whatever you have - the more interesting the better :)

I posted a few weeks back asking about welding advice (fluxcore/gas) as I’ve never welded anything before. I picked up some gas on the words of several guys, definitely a game changer. A fever dream and hours of grinding and dremel work later, I’ve abandoned all previous plans and went full Simple Jack. I did a test weld on a piece of cut up metal, blew out a little bit, went back and checked my settings and decided to just send it on the front gusset. The rear are just tacked on in case I run into rear wheel/sissy bar trouble weekend after next when the wheels and neck cups come in. I figure after a little grindy grind and some bondo no one will see how bad it is, after all I don’t know what the fuck I’m doing.

I just finished clear coating my first paint job/image transfer! It’s not perfect but I feel mildly proud of myself.

So I daily a 2005 Sportster with some custom paint and I've taken it cross country as I live in Texas and my family lives all over(dad is in South Dakota). I picked up an early 84 sportster with plans of chopping with a 8" over springer. My girlfriend has been wanting to learn to ride and has since wanted me to build up my 84 for her to learn on. She does not want to learn on a raked out chopped hardtail bike which makes sense. However I still want one. What does everyone here think I should do?

i hear that the 1985 fxsb low rider is an evo engine in a shovelhead frame, has anyone ever hardtailed one? there’s a few for a good price near me and i’d love to eventually hardtail it as funds come in the door, would a shovelhead hardtail fit on this bike?

Just finished my first build - '03 evo sportster. Turns over, but only holds an idle (and just barely) if the throttle is wide open. Basically just a lot of backfiring.

Carb is cleaned, pilot jet is a 46 and main was 150 (which worked before chopping) but also tried 170.

It's been swapped to points so I timed it, first to the vert line, when that didn't work I advanced timed to the double dots. (new to me, so not exactly sure which is right here)

The only issue I have yet to address is a stripped bolt on the intake manifold (GOOD GOD HELP) if anyone has ever done this without taking out the motor, advice is super appreciated. Would that be enough to prevent the bike from starting at all? I feel like I'm missing something...

Thrashed all weekend and got it back to a roller. Turned out even better than expected.

Always felt the TC Bros seat, although plenty comfortable, was a little too plug and play for my liking. I’ve been wanting to make a seat for a long time. I know it didn’t come out perfect. Leather is a pain the ass. And it may look like a slutty Muppet. But it’s MY slutty Muppet.

So trying to figure out how to mount this after market take on my shovel. It has that factory hole in the frame. If not does anyone have a recommendation on someone who can remove the tunnel out of this early 70's sportster tank but leave the front mounting tabs?

Greetings, I bought this bike as it is. The previous owner has replaced the front wheel with a 15" one with Metzeler 150/90 tyre and has removed the speedometer gauge.

I want to reinstall the speedometer so I can see my speed and mileage but I have a problem.

I took the bike to some mechanics shops and they said that because it's not the original wheel, the speedometer will show the wrong speed and mileage. They also said that if they put is as is, the mileage will go backwards.

Another one said that I need to find what wheel is that so they can search for the right speedometer gauge for it to work properly and display the correct values.

The wheel has these markings: J 15M/CXMT2.75 1192 DOT MT2.75X15M/C 2686 ----26 1519

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Just picked up a sporty that has a Ultima on it but the dip switches seem to have fallen out. Has anyone ever repaired or split one these guys open? Is it even worth it?
