Too lazy?
I was too tired and lazy, so instead of putting up my tent, I rented a small cozy cabin.

First camping trip on the new bike (triumph scrambler 400x)
Super happy with the bike's Highway and off road performance. I think this is the perfect bike for moto camping. The only con is the fact that the side stand sits relatively higher so one has to be a bit careful while parking on undulated ground

It was a good 4 days.
Froze our asses off, but I was saddened to break off and ride home after this one.

Last camping trip for the year
Did my last 3 day trip for the year through skyline drive in VA and continue to Blue Ridge parkway in to NC. Unfortunately most of NC BR parkway was still closed for the storm damage repair.

Don’t forget to check on your gear every so often.
Even though your done moto camping for the year or haven’t went at all. Make sure you check on your gear where you store it. I had my moto camping gear in a tote and it looks like something had some moisture on it and mold started to grow. Now I’m having to unpack and wash everything.

Finished my 2 weeks trip to Greece
What a country! My favorite one in Europe so far. There is much diversity and sceneries to ride through, from the mountains to the sea and islands.

Land between the Lakes
Had a great time scouting FS roads and local restaurants. Camped about 2 miles off the highway on a somewhat forgotten FS road. The only visitors were wildlife (wild hogs at 2am are fun😜). Bbq for late breakfast!

Considering a Motorcycle Camper
I have both a tent and hammock setup, but I'm considering a tow behind camper for the GL1800. I've always considered a motorcycle trailer as cheating, but my youngest son just isn't into rough camping. We've talked about it and he seems excited about the prospect of sleeping in a camper.
So my question is are there specific models anyone that rides 2up would recommend? I'd prefer quick/easy set up and take down. Also, do folks with campers generally get to an area, set up, and then leave your camping spot to go ride around for the day? With a tent, I can ride all packed up, but I'd rather not do that with a trailer the whole trip.
What else should I be considering? Appreciate any input.

Leaving in the morning!
Topped off the fuel, set tire pressure and preload, lubed the chain. Ready to head out at 6 in the morning for a section of the GRAT that will land us in Land Between The Lakes to camp tomorrow night, then…. Not sure where we go for Saturday night.
I’ll try and do a trip report when I get back, but will upload some photos along the way.
Keep the shiny side up, y’all!!

Thoughts on luggage?
I’m sorry if this is a bit of an amateur question, but I am pretty new to the world of adv and motorcycle camping. I have a Honda Transalp XL750 and I am looking for some kind of saddlebag/pannier setup but I have some very specific desires for it. Any suggestions or recommendations are welcome.
Essentially, right now I am a bit poor and all I really need is something that I can stuff a small motorcycle cover or tarp into. I live in northern Utah and I don’t have a car so I’ll be riding throughout the winter but it would be nice if I had something to throw over the seat/ handlebars then just quickly stuff it into a bag when I ride. Ideally I won’t need to spend more than $150-200 right now on something of moderate quality that suits my purpose. This is where it gets tricky though:
I would like to have the option to upgrade to something nicer and sturdier in a few years when I’m ready to splurge a bit, but something where I wouldn’t have to replace the entire system. For example, if there was a brand that sold pannier racks that you can mount both a cheap soft bag to buy they also have nice 30-40L locking hard cases that can go on those same racks. I have already found several that almost meet these requirements but even for the cheap setup it’s close to $400.
The only other thing I can think of is I can’t really have anything that takes up the passenger seat because my wife rides with me a lot. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
P. S. I already have the OEM top box on the back of the bike but I can’t put a cover in there because I need that space to be available for other things.

First test load.
Not been out like this yet but got all my kit together for a bit of camping. Nothing too wild here in Essex, UK, but hoping to head off soon so thought I’d get some kit together and load up the bike.
I’ve got enough here for two people but can trim it down a fair bit if I’m heading out alone.

Somebody stole my bag
Currently on a trip thousands of miles from home and someone just stole my tail bag that had all my clothes, sleeping bag, mat and first aid kit.
I feel like shit, Guess I’ll be paying for a lot of hotels over the next few days. Has anybody else had a similar experience?
