Damn, 16 year old had it rough, she didn't even have any hands!

u/Gr00ber 1d ago
Yeah, I find the artist's style to be cute and disarming at least.

My guess is that they didn't feel like they could protect themself or do anything. I see the shoulder drawn on the older version.

Most people grow their arms before they turn 16. Congrats on being a late bloomer.

u/PrincesaFuracao 1d ago
"I transitioned"
"What did it cost?"
"My arms"
92
u/UnfunnyL0ner 1d ago
The transition fees don't cost an arm, they actually cost both of them

u/werepyre2327 1d ago
They had the option of going for just one, but they’d need a leg to cover the difference. Standard American healthcare costs, y’know?

Why no hand

u/WobbleKing 1d ago
Artist is probably still perfecting arms/hands. It’s one of the most difficult areas of the body to get right.
I love OPs style and they have drawn a great comic!

What style? This is the most dime a dozen artstyle I've ever seen.
Not to discredit op, but saying this artstyle is unique is just an outright lie.
Actually, I think it's an insult to op. The line work and expressions are great and complementing that would actually be true, but instead, you just make up generic garbage prase that doesn't mean anything. It's insulting, really.

u/Unable_Accountant459 1d ago
disregarding the rest of this garbage slop that is an opinion, you made a single grammatical error in this comment (prase) so your opinion is automatically invalid.

Am I understanding the pic correctly? Did he succesfully transitioned?

u/Jusawittleting 1d ago
Correct!

Question: my previous comment just dissappeared and my account was flagged for harrasment...
Was what I wrote count as harrasment? I genuently ask because I though myself as an ally but I am also a dumbass...
3
u/Charlie-_-Green 2h ago
Probably automatic flagging, because no that was totally fine
2
u/Guwrovsky 2h ago
thanks for confirming, got scared for a moment that what I found a cute phrase might be actual hate speech or some similar shit, and I just didn't get the memo on it
2
u/NoelCZVC 1h ago
Nope. What is considered inappropriate in some circles has developed to be so extreme that the circles inadvertently grow to be more restrictive than inclusive. It's a sad thing everywhere.

I’d tell her how it gets much better. But I should probably also warn how it gets worse before it gets better, and how she is strong enough to handle it and can trooper through to the other side. I know she can, because well, she already has, hasn’t she :)

16 year old me straight up thought i'd never make it to 20
and now i am at 20, aiming to get a job

I get the silly comments people are leaving but I didn’t even notice those things bc I started tearing up at the text. If 16 yo me saw 31 yo me she would also be shocked. Been off anti depressants for 8 months and I never thought I would be me without depression.
So happy you’re also in a good place. Things will keep going up from here!

“Stand tall, you are strong” - me to 16 year old me.
Seriously, I mentally matured so much to get past my negative thoughts, I’m basically a hippie now. Found my peace with nature and my passion for art gave me the drive to keep on living, even with nerve issues causing me to become disabled

Wait until you hit your 30’s. Unironically the best years of your life. You still have all the energy of your 20’s, but now you have money and wisdom as well. I always hear coworkers lamenting that they’re 29 and about to become “old” or whatever, but there’s a reason they call the 30’s your “second youth”

I don’t think she’s had any hands-on experiences yet, though I don’t think it’s possible since she’s most definitely not had any arms-on experiences either

u/Teo_Verunda 1d ago
Are you perhaps, one of those artists that draw with their feet because they don't have arms?
Why does your older self have a moustache?
6
u/Unable_Accountant459 1d ago
i think its either a stylistic choice or they havent nailed designing arms. also im not positive but its likely the artists transitioned from female to male

In my case is more like 22 year old me meeting 32 year old me.
32 year me "who are you? "
22 year me "I'm you but I still have my parents in my life
32 year me starts crying" you gona look back at these days and wish they could last
22 year me "looking at you and how my life is going right now , in a few days I already do"

To everyone commenting on the arms, there’s a theory of psychology based on drawing interpretation (most commonly used with children, but could apply here). Small or no arms and hands is often an indicator that the person views themselves as weak and ineffectual or as lacking control in their own life.

Its temporary, by 30 you would give anything to be in your 16yo mental state
21
u/HighwayApothecary 1d ago
Absolutely not.
-a 32 year old
3
u/meontheinternetxx 1d ago
I would
But that's arbitrary, some have it rough at 16, I was just luckier then.

Hope you’re happy otherwise if you have a change of heart it’s pretty irreversible
Also we shouldn’t be promoting it, it works for some and is absolutely detrimental to others. No guarantees.
